SSS-Rank Extra: I Got a Chaos System-Chapter 7: How to Trick a Village 101
Chapter 7 - How to Trick a Village 101
Kazuki collapsed onto the dirt road, his entire body screaming in protest. The cool night air wrapped around him, a stark contrast to the nightmare he had just fled. His heart still hammered in his chest, the distant howls of the hydra echoing like a cruel reminder.
But it wasn't following him.
He had made it out.
Kazuki let out a long, shaky breath and rolled onto his back, staring at the sky. Stars twinkled above, scattered like fragments of shattered glass, oblivious to the poultry-fueled warzone he had left behind.
"Never again..." he groaned. "Never again will I trust anything with feathers."
His system chimed in response.
[System Notification: You have successfully survived an encounter with a Hydra.]
[Achievement Unlocked: The One That Got Away!]
[EXP Gained!]
Kazuki flinched. "Could you not? I don't need a play-by-play of my trauma."
Pushing himself up, he surveyed his surroundings. The dirt road stretched into the darkness, illuminated only by the pale glow of the moon. Tall grass swayed in the breeze, whispering against the silence of the night. In the distance, lantern lights flickered in what could only be a small village. Smoke curled gently from chimneys, the distant hum of voices carrying through the night air.
Civilization.
Kazuki nearly sobbed from relief.
Ignoring his aching limbs, he forced himself onto his feet and staggered forward. One step at a time. He was too exhausted to think straight, but he knew one thing for sure—he needed food, water, and a place to rest that wasn't teeming with monsters.
As he trudged down the dirt path, his mind wandered back to his absurd new powers.
[Current Class: Avian Apostle]
[Skills: Feathered Footwork (D), Egg Bomb (C), Call of the Flock (C)]
He exhaled sharply. "I'm basically a walking poultry disaster."
The thought made him cringe. He had barely scratched the surface of what his new class could do, and he was already causing large-scale destruction. He needed to get it under control—before it got him killed.
His stomach grumbled loudly, interrupting his thoughts.
"Right. Priorities first."
As he neared the village, he noticed a wooden sign at the edge of the road.
[Welcome to Eldenbury]
The village wasn't large, but it was lively even at night. Lanterns lined the streets, casting a warm glow on stone paths. A few late-night merchants tended to their stalls, while travelers gathered at the inn, sharing drinks and laughter. The scent of roasted meat and freshly baked bread drifted through the air, making Kazuki's mouth water.
For the first time since arriving in this world, he felt something resembling peace.

Kazuki barely had time to register the flood of notifications before something happened.
A brilliant golden glow burst from his body, illuminating the village entrance like a miniature sun. A loud chime rang out—not just in his ears, but across the entire village.
Kazuki froze. "Wait. No. No, no, no—"
It was too late.
Heads turned. Villagers peeked out from their homes. A group of armed guards near the town square immediately snapped to attention, weapons at the ready.
A small child pointed at him. "Look! A chosen one!"
Kazuki wanted to die.
The golden light faded, leaving him standing in the open, every pair of eyes locked onto him.
An elderly man with a long white beard—who definitely looked like an important village figure—stepped forward, eyes wide with astonishment. "A traveler blessed by the system... at our humble village's gates? This is truly a momentous occasion!"
The crowd murmured in excitement.
Kazuki, still glowing faintly, resisted the urge to bolt. This is NOT what I wanted.
A burly man with a blacksmith's apron crossed his arms. "So? What kind of divine power does he have? Strength? Fire? Lightning?"
Kazuki paled. Oh, gods.
A middle-aged woman clasped her hands together. "Could it be healing? Oh, heavens, we've been in dire need of a new healer!"
The crowd leaned in expectantly.
Kazuki's mind raced. Think. Think. THINK. He couldn't exactly say, "I summon birds and throw eggs at people." He needed something vague—something that wouldn't immediately get him exposed.
His mouth opened. Nothing came out.
His hands clenched at his sides. Sweat beaded at his brow.
He glanced at the guards, their hands still resting on their weapons. The villagers, waiting with bated breath. The little kid, staring up at him with wide, hopeful eyes.
Okay. You've bullshitted your way this far. Time to commit.
Kazuki straightened up, placed a hand over his chest, and took a deep, dramatic breath. His expression shifted—hesitation melting into something more composed, more purposeful. "My power... is one of divine guidance and protection. A sacred force... too overwhelming to be carelessly displayed."
The crowd gasped. Someone whispered, "A holy wanderer...?"
Kazuki continued, pressing his exhaustion into his performance. "It is... a power that must be used sparingly, lest it become too much for ordinary mortals to witness."
The elderly man stroked his beard, nodding sagely. "Ah, a force beyond our comprehension... Truly, the gods work in mysterious ways."
The blacksmith crossed his arms, skeptical. "So you can't show us a demonstration?"
Kazuki sighed dramatically. "Only when the time is right. For now, I must rest and commune with the divine forces to regain my strength."
He swayed slightly, letting his exhaustion do most of the acting for him. A faint shimmer of leftover system light pulsed around him—perfectly selling the illusion that his power was too great to control freely.
The villagers murmured in understanding. The woman who had wanted a healer clapped her hands together. "Then let us not burden him! We must provide for his recovery. Quickly, prepare a room at the inn!"
Kazuki barely suppressed his relieved grin. Holy crap, that actually worked.
The old man nodded. "Come, young traveler. Let Eldenbury offer you shelter."
As the villagers began bustling about to prepare his stay, Kazuki followed, trying not to let his knees shake from sheer luck.
He had somehow scammed his way into food, shelter, and rest... without revealing that his so-called divine blessing was actually exploding chickens.
