Chapter 41: Psyche Of Monochrome [5]

With an otherworldly aura surrounding her, it felt as though the blind girl had become someone else entirely. I-It felt as though she had become a divine entity.

However, it was only a fleeting illusion brought forward by her divine blessing. Notwithstanding, the effect it had on her was nothing short of astounding. Breathtaking even.

With cold, eerie white eyes devoid of all signs of emotions, she stretched her hand forward, and then, tightly clenched it together.

In that moment, almost as though she was squeezing the entity’s heart through some mysterious esoteric means, the nightmarish entity coughed out a mouthful of blood. Its eyes widened as it fell to its knees, face paling further.

"Kgha, kgha!"

It spat more blood, bloodshot veins creeping across its sclera.

Tak—!

Right about then, she stepped forward, and the surroundings grew darker. Except this darkness was one of absolute divinity.

Tak--!

She took another step forward, and the nightmarish entity could only watch in fear as she inched closer.

Coughing profusely, as it tried to rise to its feet, it once again heard the nightmarish voice.

"Break,"

The blind girl whispered, her voice fully depicting what it means to be an Arcanist.

Reality.

It was bending to her will.

Step—

She took another step forward, and the stifling silence grew in intensity.

The sounds of bones cracking resounded through the darkness, accompanied by screams of someone, or rather, something experiencing... hellish agony.

The sound was unlike anything that should have been produced by a vocal chord.

With cold, white eyes, her voice tore through the quiet night:

"Die."

All the pent up emotions and pain within her was being unleashed with each command. And with each step she took, the nightmarish entity felt a solemn fear unlike anything it had ever felt before weighing down on it.

Fear and despair crawled their way into his mind. His bones squeezed and contracted, and his organs felt like they were being clenched by an invisible hand.

...However, just at the last moment, just before it busted into a morbid pile of blood and shadows, a terrifying profane aura erupted forth from within him. As though it were a ferocious entity, it devoured the divinity that had fallen upon the world of nightmares at a terrifying pace.

The blind girl’s face paled, the consequences of using such a horrifying ability finally catching up to her. Spitting out a mouthful of blood, she fell to her knees, eyes twitching continuously.

In that moment, the grim realization settled in.

Half of her soul essence had been wasted, and the interference of the profane blessing only added to its intensity. Right now, she was barely left with a quarter of her soul essence. And even if she was being blessed and her soul essence would rapidly recover. The rate at which it would do so wouldn’t match the rate at which she was expending it.

And to make matters worse, she could feel her vitality slowly slipping away. One of the fatal consequences of using the divine blessing was creeping in faster than she had expected.

...There was no doubt about it, even if she hoped otherwise, she knew she would be the first person to give in. However, even with that, she didn’t stop nor did she give up.

She couldn’t...

Rising to her feet, blood seeped out of the corner of her lips. In her divine blessing form, she could sense everyone’s vital energy.

Every single one of them were clouded in a world of light and divinity. All except for two figures.

The nightmarish entity and... Dean.

They both radiated a deep sense of evil and malice. However, the difference between the two was that Dean also had this faint sense of divinity emanating from him.

With a grim expression, she turned to face the nightmarish entity. In that moment, amidst the dire situation, she only had one thought in mind:

’They all needed her now.’

Tok—

With a grim look of resignation, she stepped forward, her face losing all signs of youthfulness. However...

Tak--

After all they had done for her, this was the least she could do, to finally be of help.

Drip! Drip--!

As something wet trickled down her eyes, she stretched her hands forward.

The nightmarish entity who was already beginning to recover suddenly felt its heartbeat accelerate tremendously,

Ba- thump, Ba- thump!

An uncontrollably sense of dread suddenly held onto its heart. Its eyes widened in fear.

’I will protect them. Even if it’s the last thing I do.’

Amidst the pain that clung onto her, to the invisible force of reality pressing down on her, she spat out coldly in numerous sequences.

"Break."

Tok–

Its hand broke.

"Break."

Its leg broke and her face became paler.

The nightmarish entity was being dismembered with each word of hers. However, there was something she didn’t know:

"Die!" She was starting to get desperate, coughing out a mouthful of blood as she staggered back.

Pain. It was used to.

The nightmarish entity grinned.

Pain.

It fueled his adrenaline, making him even stronger.

That feeling.

’Hah....’

It was probably the most pleasant feeling in all of existence.

Struggling to its feet, the blind girl gave out a command once again. Its bones broke, skin of shadows and flesh hanging loosely from its body, just as its organs ruptured. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Yet, its grin only widened. Before long, it grew into a wide... smile.

A devilish smile.

One that sent cold chills running down her spine.

Gritting her teeth as her body shivered from the cold, she attempted to speak again. However...

"....!"

In that moment, it felt as though the force of a single world slammed onto her.

Her vision blurred as she spat out a mouthful of blood. As she fell onto her back, time seemed to slow down as tears slid down her pale, white eyes.

Drip! Drip!

’She had failed. S-She’d failed them all.’

The tears came faster, the pain in her heart intensifying as she fell.

She expected the harsh, loud, crashing sound. However, all she felt was a cold-warm hand embracing her. The hand was soft and strong, embracing her into a world of light.

The figure placed the blind girl on the ground, a plethora of emotions flickering within their eyes.

From her divine senses, a blurry form slowly blurred and twisted, forming a concrete image of sort.

"Mia,"

The blind girl whispered softly, her voice hoarse as blood streamed down the corner of her lips, her face losing all semblance of youthfulness.

Mia smiled.

"It’s okay."

Gripping her sword tighter, she said:

"I will take it from here."

Staring at Livia who shivered and groaned in pain, Mia felt a surge of emotion coursing through her.

They were blazing wildly and burning furiously.

The starlight flame- it was feeding on her emotions.

On her anger. Hatred.

It was feeding on them all.

...She knew she was treading on thin ice. However,

"..."

Glancing at the nightmarish monstrosity who was now back on his feet, his body back to its peak form as though he hadn’t just gone through the most harrowing pain he’d ever been fortunate enough to encounter, she grimaced.

...And continued, allowing herself to sink further into their embrace.

Whoosh-!

A violent flow of wind suddenly spread across the entire dark space. And as it stared at the crimson haired lady, a cold chilling wind ran down its spine.

There was something about her current form that unnerved it in ways it couldn’t really quite place its hands on.

Tilting its head to the left, it wondered:

What exactly could it be?

Just then, its eyes widened. The ground beneath Mia fractured, and before it could do so much as to blink, she was already before it.
