Chapter 203: Sister to Sister.
" I must emphasize that I’m in a bit of a hurry so if there’s something you need, please do tell me."
Esmeralda frowned not knowing whether her sister was telling the truth or not.
" I believe I’ll take your silence as a no then." Victoria pursed her lips. " Well, since that’ll be all, I’m afraid I must bid you goodbye." Victoria said before entering the garden.
Esmeralda frowned and followed after her but, she glanced around after entering the garden but couldn’t find her at all.
" Sister, since we were little, not once have I ever spoken up against your actions." Esmeralda stood in place, her eyes staring at her own feet, her trembling voice obvious. " Never once did i complain even when it was obvious to everyone that you always wished to outshine me." At this point, she bit her lower lip, her eyes moistening a bit.
" But this time, I’m afraid I can’t let you take him from me." She said before taking a few breaths to calm down. She then glanced at the clear sky where her little bird flew off into the distance.
" So for both our sakes, I hope it’s not what I’m thinking." Esmeralda said, on her left, her perception was that of the beautiful garden, while from her right, her vision was far more elevated, and was that of a little cloaked figure moving down below.
Victoria left the estate and arrived within the central district of the city.
She glanced around to make sure she still wasn’t being followed before she flagged down a coachman.
" Where to my lady?" The coachman asked politely.
" I need to go somewhere within the southern district."
" The southern district?" The coachman raised a brow, it wasn’t everyday he got such a request, since most in the central district shy away from the other districts.
The coachman briefly thought about it before speaking. " That’ll be 1 silver my lady."
" Keep the change. And please drive quickly." Victoria tossed the coachman a coin before getting in.
The coachman stared at the gold coin in hand, stunned. It wasn’t that Victoria was generous, but that a gold coin was the lowest currency she owned, being the daughter of wealthy noble household sure had its perks.
The coachman cleared his throat before putting away the coin. He then whipped his horse’s reigns and steered the coach around, south.
The drive took awhile but eventually, she arrived within the southern district. Victoria glanced through the carriage window before shutting the curtains.
" You can drop me off here." She said, though not Infront of Su Pings new home, it was rather close. As for how she knew he had a new home, one could say she was always keeping tabs on him through her own means.
Victoria got down from the coach and quickly blended in with the crowd.
’ It’s rather crowded here today.’ unlike before, she would brush shoulders with a person or two while walking by the pavement.
She also saw the happy looks on most of their faces which left her puzzled, as far as she remembered, her sources hadn’t told her of a festival or celebration being scheduled today.
" Excuse me. Sir. Excuse me." Victoria stopped and walked over to a butchers stall, calling the attention of the man behind the stall.
" Anything I can do for you missy?" The butcher took a glance at her cloaked outfit.
’ Looks like trouble...’ The man thought to himself, secretly putting up his guard.
" Pardon me but I’d like to ask. Would you care to tell me why so many people came out today and why it looks like they look like there’s a party going on?"
" Oh." The butcher paused, throwing out his earlier.
’ Looks like she must be from outside the city..’ he thought to himself.
" Well to be honest, I’d say today’s worthy of a celebration." The man chuckled, grabbing a slab of meat with his left before chopping down on it with the butchering knife in his right hand.
" Just this afternoon, everyone was relieved when all the missing people finally returned back to the city."
" Well I wouldn’t say all but most of them did." The man let out a breath before shifting the chopped meat slabs aside, then grabbed a new one.
" After the adventurer guilds and the city magistrate all failed to retrieve, no one expected one man to do it."
" If not for Mr Su, I bet you this place would still be covered in gloom."
" With their loved ones returned to them, of course this place would look like this." The butcher gave a hearty laugh at the end. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
’ Master solved the crisis?’ Victoria was stunned, she had a feeling someone like him could deal with it but she hadn’t expected him to act at all.
’ Why would he intervene when it benefits him more to stay put, wouldn’t it be easier for him to take over when everyone is in disarray?’ her brows furrowed beneath her hood, she just couldn’t understand why he did such a thing.
’ I need to find master and ask him directly. If he’s actually planning on changing his plans, then I need to know. After all, I’m his number one servant.’ at the latter part of her sentence, her lips curled up ever so slightly.
" I never would’ve thought." Victoria said. " Thank you for clearing things up for me."
" Your welcome missy. And hey, if you’re ever looking for fresh meat, be sure to come on down, alright. I’ll even sell you a discount, how’s 20 percent off sound to you." The butcher chuckled.
" Hahahaha, that’s very kind of you." Victoria glanced at the raw meat still with some visible traces of blood with some occasionally flies buzzing around.
" I’ll be sure to think about it." She said with a warm smile. She then bid the man goodbye and walked off, towards Su Ping’s home.
Victoria’s mood brightened when she saw the house at the end of the street, it fit perfectly with her sources description.
’ What’s going on...’ While walking there though, Victoria noticed another woman ahead of her, approaching the house.
