SSS Ranked Reincarnation: Dark Dragon Legacy-Chapter 345: Vermin
Leah’s eyes followed the blade. It looked like it held terror, but soon that terror changed into a smile. Her body crackled with lightning, and then she followed up with a powerful blast of lightning.
Mike was electrocuted and thrown back into a wall. He slammed against it so hard he nearly passed out.
"What do you believe you can do? What do you believe you can change, Mike? I’ve watched you, trying to be among them, trying to be like one of your siblings.
Your sister was born with an amazing ice legacy that would make even the richest people jealous, and your brother Quin—he managed to somehow awaken his own legacy.
Yet here you are, powerless, unable to even master the sword, watching them reach heights that you are unable to attain.
What do you really hope to achieve here? I am a hero candidate, possess a legacy, and am a step away from evolving. There is no winning here for you. There is only death at the end of this fight, so you can still the struggle and wake up to reality," Leah said.
"I preferred the former you. You didn’t blab so much. Now you just won’t stop talking," Mike said and got back on his feet.
"You see, the issue I have here is not that you turned against us, but that you don’t really know why you turned against us.
You are simply brainwashed and have no say for yourself. You don’t even make your own decisions, and that’s what pisses me off," Mike said and charged at her again.
"When will you learn that you are weaker than me?" she asked. She pulled her hand back, and a blade of lightning formed around her hand. She stepped forward and stabbed at the exact moment that Mike stabbed as well.
The lightning blade and the sword collided, causing an explosion, pushing both of them back. But Mike was quicker on his feet—he pressed against the ground and moved forward again.
He went into a flurry of attacks, landing combo after combo. Leah used her lightning blade to block and parry, but she was getting pushed back with every attack.
Mike made every slash stronger and faster than the last. He poured all his mana into the blade, reinforcing it severalfold to make sure that his hits had the impact he wanted, and he was getting a favorable result.
Her hand was being thrown back wildly after every hit. It was a sign of fatigue—that hand could no longer take the hits.
Mike had a good amount of battle experience, and because of that, he knew that Leah would attack him with a big flashy attack in order to push him back, to give her arm some time to rest and for her to change her strategy.
But that attack would be relatively harmless. It would not pose a threat to his life since it was instant and large. There was no way to cast a large attack in an instant unless it was a really weak one.
And just as he hypothesized, she did exactly that. She placed out her other hand, and a large and bright lightning web shot from her hand. This attack was meant to push Mike back, but Mike pushed through it.
His clothes got burnt, and a few burn marks showed on his body, but it was nothing devastating. He wasn’t seriously harmed.
Leah was caught off guard by the fact that Mike pushed through. She had already dropped her guard, figuring that this would be the time she would rest up and make a new strategy.
Mike’s blade traveled toward her at an amazing speed. She reacted at the last moment and moved to the side. The blade slashed the skin of her neck, drawing some blood but not digging too deep.
Mike still wasn’t done. He stepped in close, and with his other hand, he landed a punch right in her face. He didn’t even hold back a bit—he gave it his all.
Leah was sent flying. She landed like a sack of potatoes. Mike stood watching, his sword in his hand, ready to go again.
"What makes you believe that you are right in this situation? It wasn’t even your idea—it was the idea set in your mind by someone else.
What makes you think that you are right to come here and try to take down what we have built?" Mike asked her.

"Right? What do you mean by right?" she asked as she pushed herself up from the ground, her smile still evident on her face.

"There is no right and wrong. There is no up and down. There is only war—war against the vermin that walk this world.
It doesn’t matter the means used. It doesn’t matter the lives lost. All that matters is that we rid the world of their kind and show that humans are the superior race. That’s all that matters.
Every day I walked around, seeing Silva do whatever he wanted. He took whatever he wanted and tore down kingdoms whenever he wanted. I admired that, and do you know why? Because he understood.
Silva understood what it meant to deal with an enemy. Whether they were friends before, he dealt with them the right way and made sure they never came back to bite him.
Sadly, he had to be a demon king candidate. He would have stood by my side if he was a hero candidate," Leah said.
When she said the last part, Mike burst into laughter. He laughed so hard it turned into coughing, and then he finally calmed down. He looked at Leah and spoke.
"Silva, stand at your side? Don’t make me laugh. Oh, sorry, I already did. You are nothing to him. A weak hero candidate like yourself—why would you stand near him? Who would let you stand beside him?" Mike asked.
Leah frowned when she heard that, her hands crackling with lightning.
"I’ll have a lot of fun ripping your throat out of your neck and feeding it to one of the vermin you have walking this kingdom," Leah said in rage.
