Chapter 229: My Sister

Aren headed out of the War God City, he kept his head low as he moved, worried that the guards would be out for him, but none of them were actually looking for him at all, and he managed to leave the city.

Stepping outside, he felt a bit free for the first time, the entire thing with the War God City had been extremely stressful and heavy on him.

Without hesitation, Aren summoned his shadow snake and got on it. He looked back at the city one last time, his friends were still inside there and now he was leaving, not sure of when he’ll actually be back.

The snake shot forward in the direction that the town was. He had no idea how long it would take, but he knew what direction the town was in, and he wasn’t stopping until he got there.

"What the hell are the both of you doing? Do you have a death wish?" he asked in a low, pissed off tone.

June and the young man groaned in pain as their faces were buried into the hard paved floor.

Kai let go of both of them and stood straight, "Get up now." He said, and they both instantly rose to their feet and then bowed their heads to him.

"Raise your heads," Kai said, his eyes drifting toward Athena, a smile formed on his face, "seems you managed to get her, impressive work June." Kai said, then he looked at the young man that had attacked June, "do you not have anything better to do with your time instead of attacking people randomly?"

"I’m sorry," the young man said.

"Tch, well since you have nothing to do, head to the academy, help them prepare for the test," Kai said.

The young man and June were stunned when they heard test, "is it that time already?" June couldn’t help but ask.

"Yes, the test will be starting tomorrow, and this year it seems we have some good prospects," Kai said and then turned away, heading for the main house.

"Come with me June, and bring along her." He said as he walked past Athena, he didn’t even bother to spare her a glance.

June walked up to Athena, "let’s go." She said and then grabbed Athena by the hand, pushing her in front as they walked to the house.

Kai pushed the door of the house open, inside was a magnificent place, grand and extremely beautiful, with floors made of heavily polished marble, with red carpets that had gold embroidery leading the paths.

Right ahead were the stairs that led above, and to the sides were a massive dining hall and then the sitting room.

"Sadly, the Patriarch and most of the family aren’t around now, the Patriarch is at that War God Tournament." Kai said.

Athena listened to him, she calmly summoned some courage within herself and decided to ask, "what do you want with me?" Her voice wasn’t loud, but inside this large house, it was loud enough.

"Hmmm, what do I want with you? Nothing really, but you are important to the Patriarch, niece." He said and turned around.

Instantly she froze, confused as to why he called her niece. "What?" She asked.

"I’m sure your mind must have already started putting two and two together. Your hair, your eyes, take a look at it, and take a look at ours, that beautiful blood red hair, it’s definitely suspicious that you have similar ones with everyone that’s here right?" Kai asked.

Athena looked at her hair, and then that of June and then that of Kai, indeed it was the same, but even then, her mind couldn’t fully register what he was trying to say here.

Kai saw the confusion on her face, so he stepped forward, standing a few feet from her and looked her right in the eye, "your mother was my sister, Athena." He said and instantly Athena’s eyes widened, she took a step back, "wha-what?" She muttered, she couldn’t even say the words she wanted to say properly, her entire mind was in a jumble.

"You are Blade, a member of a Royal Family." He said.

"Bu-but that’s impossible, I’m an orphan," Athena muttered, she refused to believe whatever he was saying, she couldn’t be one of them, that wasn’t possible.

"Sigh, I’ll not tell you the full story, that’s up to the Patriarch to say, but I’ll tell you a bit.

Your mother was my younger sister, not directly by blood, but she was dear to me. A Blade prodigy to be honest, and one of the fiercest persons that I have ever known.

But let’s just say, when the weight of what you have to carry gets too much, people tend to find a way out and that’s exactly what she did, and honestly I can’t blame her for it.

As for you, you are the result of her running away to chase happiness, and you are very very important to the Blade family." Kai finished saying, he looked at Athena who was still evidently trying to understand what was happening.

"June will take you to one of the empty rooms, whatever you need, just ask for it and you’ll get it." Kai said and walked away.

June frowned deeply, completely angry that she was stuck with some babysitting job.

"My rewards for this better be great." She said in anger before grabbing Athena who was still stunned by the hand and pulling her along. They went up the stairs and to the right which led to a large hallway with tons of rooms.

June led her to the very last room and pushed open the door, and inside was a pretty large room, with a queen sized bed neatly made, wardrobes, cabinets, mirrors and more placed properly into the room, it scented of flowers and alcohol perfume, a window was cracked open to allow some light.

June shoved Athena to the bed, Athena barely managed to stop herself from falling hard on the bed, she managed to land safely, she turned around and looked at June who was staring at her with pure malice.
