The beast master shouted as he was now visibly anxious, "Old man! We need to—"

A wave of oppressive heat exploded outward, silencing him immediately.

Fenix exhaled slowly as he cracked his neck. His smirk was gone, replaced by a cold, dangerous glare.

The playful demeanor he held earlier had vanished. His blade pulsed with fiery energy, and a flicker of something ominous flickered behind his eyes.

"Alright, no more holding back."

The old man's confident expression faltered. "What is this pressure?"

The eagle screeched in alarm, flapping its wings aggressively as if trying to dispel the sudden heat in the air.

Fenix raised his sword and intensified the flames as it wrapped around his arms like a living entity.

"Now then," he muttered, his voice dangerously low. "Let's finish this."

The old man and the eagle braced themselves, but deep down, they knew that the balance of the fight had shifted.

A crimson glow radiated from his body, his skin pulsing with veins of liquid fire. His presence intensified, the temperature soaring in an instant. The ground beneath him cracked, embers rising as if the very earth trembled in anticipation of his power.

"Infernal Ascendance," Fenix whispered, his voice filled with amusement rather than rage.

Flames erupted from his back, forming two massive wings composed of pure infernal fire. The night sky was bathed in the glow of his transformation, the sheer force of his presence alone causing the wind around him to twist and tremble.

The old man's expression morphed from frowning to sheer horror. The eagle shrieked and flapped its massive wings wildly, trying to gain distance.

"You—what are you?!" the old man stammered, sweat forming on his forehead despite his wind-imbued aura.

Fenix tilted his head as his eyes gleamed with sadistic amusement. "I thought you were having fun earlier? Keep that same energy."

Without warning, he vanished.

The old man barely had time to blink before Fenix appeared right in front of him, hovering midair, his eyes glowing like molten gold. He tapped the old man's chest lightly with a single finger.

BOOM!

The old man was launched backward like a meteor, crashing through several trees before embedding himself deep into a jagged rock formation.

He coughed violently as blood sprayed from his lips. His wind barrier, which had protected him so well before, was completely shattered by that single touch.

Fenix turned his gaze toward the eagle, which had just begun to dive toward him in a desperate attempt to strike first. Its beak glowed with compressed wind energy, ready to pierce through him.

Fenix yawned.

With a single flap of his flaming wings, he disappeared again, reappearing just above the eagle's back. He casually placed his foot on the massive beast's spine, pressing down gently.

CRACK.

The eagle screeched in agony as its bones cracked under the sheer pressure. It flailed in the air, but Fenix remained unmoving, standing atop it as if he were merely balancing on a rock in a river.

"Struggle all you want," Fenix said, crouching slightly before slamming his foot down.

BOOM!

The eagle plummeted to the ground like a broken kite, crashing into the earth below. A massive crater formed from the impact, dust and debris flying in all directions. The beast twitched, but its body refused to obey its commands.

Fenix chuckled, descending slowly toward the wreckage. "Pathetic."

The old man coughed up blood, forcing himself to his feet. His eyes blazed with desperation and fury. "I won't let you—!"

"Won't let me what?" Fenix interrupted, appearing right in front of him again. He grabbed the old man's arm and twisted it.

SNAP.

A loud scream echoed throughout the surrounding area.

Fenix sighed as he tilted his head. "You're screaming over that? I thought wind users were supposed to be graceful?"

The old man gasped, his body shaking from the overwhelming pain. He tried to summon a wind barrier, but Fenix flicked his forehead, and the force alone shattered the gathered energy.

"You were acting all high and mighty before," Fenix mused. "Let's see if you can keep that attitude up."

He grabbed the old man by the collar and threw him into the sky.

The eagle flapped its wings desperately despite its broken state as it tried to save its master's friend.

Fenix smirked and raised a single finger, pointing toward the ascending figure.

"Burning Slash."

A thin arc of fire shot from his fingertip, slicing through the air with terrifying precision.

SHINK.

The old man's arm separated from his body, blood spraying out like a fountain. He howled in agony, but the pain barely had time to register before Fenix moved again.

He soared upward, appearing right in front of the man's falling body, grabbing him by the throat.

"Let me show you what true despair feels like," Fenix whispered.

The old man's body ignited, flames crawling across his skin like a living entity. He screamed as the fire seared through his flesh, his wind resistance proving utterly useless against Fenix's flames.

Meanwhile, the eagle finally found the strength to charge again, its entire body glowing with wind energy, forming a powerful typhoon that surged toward Fenix.

Fenix sighed.

With one hand still gripping the burning old man, he raised his other palm toward the approaching eagle as he used his [Ashstorm Surge] skill.

A violent explosion of dark flames erupted from his hand, expanding outward in a swirling storm of embers and destruction. The moment it made contact with the eagle's wind barrier, the flames devoured it entirely alongside his master, twisting into a vortex of fire.

The eagle shrieked in agony as its body was consumed, its feathers burned instantly. It flailed, but its massive form was reduced to a flaming husk within seconds.

The eagle's and the beast master's lifeless, burnt corpses smashed onto the earth, causing a loud bang as the impact rocked the ground slightly.

Fenix returned his gaze back to the old man, whose screams had become weak whimpers. The life in his eyes had faded as his flesh had burned beyond recognition.

"Disappointing," Fenix muttered before crushing the old man's throat entirely.

A sickening crunch echoed as he let the body drop, the lifeless corpse falling toward the ground and landing right beside the ashes of the beast.

Silence filled the battlefield.

Fenix exhaled, his Infernal Ascendance fading as his wings dissolved into embers. He cracked his neck before glancing toward Cain, who was still seated on Nix's back, observing everything with an amused expression.

Cain clapped once. "Not bad. Took you longer than I expected."

Fenix shrugged. "Had to make it entertaining."

"You certainly did." Cain chuckled as he petted the excited little wolf in his arms. "How is it? Do you want to be as strong as him?"

Woof!

Woof!

Woof!

Little White barked a few times as if replying. "Yes, master! Little White wants to become as strong as Uncle Fenix!"

Cain laughed as he stroked Little White's neck playfully. "Alright, I will help you become stronger later!"

Cain shook his head when he saw the cute little wolf excitedly in his arms. He guessed that Little White must have heard from the little girls and Nix that he helped Nix become stronger instantly.

After Nix had taken their space rings and hop onto Nix's back, Cain immediately patted Nix lightly, instructing him to continue the journey as if nothing had happened, as they left behind nothing but ashes and burnt corpses.

As there was nothing that interrupted their journey, they finally arrived at the Flarehart family's mansion just a little bit more than an hour later.

"Welcome, Young Master Cain!" The patriarch of the Flarehart family welcomed them warmly as Nix landed on the ground.

"There's no need for such formality." Cain waved his hand dismissively.

"Do you want to have a feast while I explain it to you?" The patriarch smiled as he bowed his head slightly.

"I've already had breakfast before coming here. Let's depart immediately." Cain replied, shaking his head before making a gesture as if instructing the patriarch to get onto Nix's back too.

On the way to the forbidden place that the patriarch had mentioned to Fenix previously, he explained to Cain how he could have stumbled upon such treasures in a place where almost no sane person would go.

When Cain heard it, he shook his head as he hadn't expected to meet someone this lucky.

He thought that the patriarch's story was really similar to the lucky person in every novel out there where they stumbled upon a treasure unexpectedly.

However, he didn't care much as his objectives here were mainly for the patriarch's request and the source of the crystal mine.

As Cain had read a lot of eastern fantasy novels, he was honestly quite skeptical that if he didn't keep his promise, he was afraid that he might have a chance to not be able to go further because of a heart demon or something.

At that time, he might even regret it because of this small thing and could only cry since the patriarch or even the Flarehart family might not exist anymore.

That's why he wanted to play it safe and spend quite a little bit of time even though he was busy rather than regret it in the future.

While on the way there, Cain also finally had a deal that if what the patriarch said was true and there was an untouched crystal mine, they agreed that Cain would keep 90% of them and give the 10% to the patriarch.

Not only that, Cain would also help the patriarch to upgrade his Fire Lion to reach the Conqueror Rank Beast.
