SSS Technology System: My Talent's Name Is NanoForge-Chapter 34: Corporate Meeting
Nex Industries
Conference Room 1A
Conference room 1A was the most secured room in all of Nex Industries, it was cut out from the building’s main offices, and only authorized personnels were allowed in the room.
In the room was an oval table, stretching over at least five meters, and around the tables were several men, women, all seated according to the name tags on their seat.
It was the same room the CEO of Nex Industries — Alexander, held a meeting with the two scientists and the vice leader of the Syndicate.
But this time, they weren’t around.
Those in place of their seats were several established figures in the city. Managers and owners of various enterprises, ranging from cosmetics to tech industries, to food and drinks businesses.
And of course, Shawn — the manager of Lady Impulse, was present.
A translucent panel lit up from the center of the table, and the footage from the morning news played.
They all watched with focus. No one dared to blink, no one dared to smile. No one even dared to laugh. What played out in their presence was something they never expected, something they never thought possible.
The video paused.
"Ahem." Alexander cleared his throat, then aligned his fingers. "For those who aren’t aware, that mutant in the footage, is no other than Jackson — the One handed Demon Of The Purple Syndicate."
"What!?"
"Absurd!"
They all couldn’t believe their ears, Jackson was a hired agent they all had employed at least once. There was no way the disformed mutant could be him.
"I assure you, it is him. He used the Gene Matter Serum."
"The Gene Matter Serum!?"
"What are you trying to say Alexander? Surely that cannot be the results of the Gene Matter Serum that created our heroes?"
"Dr Reginald." Alexander called on his right hand scientist, and he stepped forward from the shadows.
"The Gene Matter Serum is indeed a drug that creates heroes, but at the same time this is only the case when the conditions are fulfilled." He began.
"Conditions? What conditions?" One of the managers spoke up.
"Comparability. When the serum was first discovered, we ran a few experiments and had... An unexpected outcome. However, in the course of our research, we discovered a vital component that was necessary for the bonding of the Gene Matter Serum, and that component led to the heroes you see."
"What!? Why did you keep this a secret from us!?"
"Alexander! Explain yourself!"
They were all enraged.
"Calm down, as you can see, such information wasn’t relevant, even now. We warned Jackson of this, but his drive for revenge against the Vigilante led him to do the unthinkable. But that’s not the issue here."
Alexander fast forwarded the video, and paused it to the duration where Night Hunter used the anti particle matter to completely disintegrate the rapid regenerating super monster.
"Dr Reginald." He called out to his right hand scientist.
"Yes sir?"
"Days ago, you speculated that this Vigilante, this kid, wasn’t a threat. Am I correct?" He picked up the cup of tea besides him, then took a sip.
"Yes sir."
"Well then, what do you call this?"
Dr Reginald simply pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose, he hid his frustrations. After all his miscalculations and underestimation cost them.
"A threat sir."
"That’s right, a threat." He dropped the cup back on the table. "But I won’t blame you for your analysis back then, after all science is all about proven facts and hypothesis that exists is it not? And you never saw any of this that night?"
Despite their situation, Alexander remained surprisingly calm.
"Yes sir."
"Now then." He turned his attention to the managers of the other tech industries especially. "You mind telling me who gave this bastard access to such technology that allowed him to destroy a super mutant in one single blast?"
His gaze narrowed, and he revealed his anger.
It was utterly unacceptable.
"What?"
"What are you talking about Alexander?"
"Are you suggesting that we gave out our technology to some Vigilante?"
They were all agitated, especially at the accusations laid out on them.
"A jet propelled roller skate, third dimensional holograms, an invisible blast of kinetic energy I assume, that wiped out the super mutant, and left a huge hole in the ground. You expect me to believe that a kid designed all this in his parent’s basement!?" Alexander stood to his feet, slamming his hands on the table.
"Alexander." Shawn finally spoke up, with a grin on his face. "As usual you tend to overreact at matters that you cannot comprehend."
"What was that? You expect me to sit still while there’s a traitor amongst us? Thanks to this Vigilante, our shipment of the necessary ingredients to complete the Gene Matter Serum has been sealed indefinitely. The borders have been closed, and now he’s out threatening to take down this serum, and you expect me to sit still?"
"Like I said, you tend to overreact at matters that you cannot comprehend. Firstly, what makes you think we had anything to do with it? Exhibit A."
Shawn back forwarded the video to the part they all thought Night Hunter was finished, and he revealed the suit of armor.
"This suit of armor appeared out of nowhere, my guess is some kind of advanced nano technology that doesn’t require a large storage unit. Exhibit B."
He fast forwarded the video to the duration he used the magnetic fields.
"A force field and repulsor that completely obliterated the super mutant’s arm. We might have created some of the world’s most advanced technology, but creating something to cause this much damage in one suit. It’s far beyond our capabilities, or any other tech industry on earth."
"What are you saying Shawn? Alexander asked, sitting back into his chair.
"I’m saying that there’s no one in this room, who is capable of creating such a tech."
The room went silent, and Alexander speechless. With no answers left, he arrived at a viable conclusion.
"If that’s the case, this Vigilante. He’s not something we can ignore much longer. The more let him be, the stronger he returns. He has already thwarted our plans twice, and defeated one of the super humans created by the Gene Matter Serum. We have to take him out, before he takes us out. All in favor."
He raised his hand in the air, and one by one, the other managers and CEO followed suite. The more Night Hunter intervened, the more their future plans were affected, impacting heavily on their businesses.
They couldn’t stand it much longer.
"It’s decided then, Shawn, I’ll leave the Vigilante to you."
Shawn grinned. "He might a threat, but not one I consider greatly. I won’t be needing Blaze or the other heroes to take care of him."
"What about that faction you just assembled? What did you call them again? Nex soldiers?"
"You egoistic bastard, they are called Nexus Elites. And I won’t be needing them either, I know a few of my contacts who can easily dispatch of these so-called threats."
"Alright then, use them. And get rid of this Shadow Vigilante once and for all."
..
Mason tapped his desk lightly, he wanted a break, but not this kind, at least not one so boring.
Trigonometry.
It was one of his worst courses, and though he was good at it, it was just too demanding.
The bell rang signaling the end of class, and every student rushed out immediately, most especially him.
"Not so fast Mason." The trig teacher called him back, a look of disdain written all over his face.
"Is there a problem sir?"
The teacher pulled up his test sheet, slightly annoyed. "You got an A+ on the pop quiz."
"Uh, why do you make it sound like it’s a bad thing?"
"You know what you did Harris, you cheated."
"How’s it cheating when you had your eyes on me the whole time?" He scratched the back of his head, confused.
"I don’t know how you did it, but I’ll prove it Harris. There’s no way you could have gotten a perfect score on my quiz."
"Hm, suit yourself professor, good luck with that." He turned around and walked out of the classroom with his hands over his neck.
"Good luck proving that..." He muttered under his breath with a smug look on his face.
"Hey!" As he walked through the corridors, a voice pulled him back.
"Hm?" He turned around, and found a girl — most likely one of his classmates, approaching him.
"Who are you?" He didn’t recognize her. Not one bit.
"Mason? Mason Harris?" The girl — Sophia smiled. She has a pitch black hair, with a sparkling pair of black eyes. She wore a white shirt that cupped her large breasts, tucked in a mini skirt, with a thigh high socks and a pair of sparkling black shoes.
"Yes, I’m Mason, I’ve never seen you around here before."
"Oh, I just transferred here yesterday from another school."
"Transfer? In the middle of the semester? That’s a bold move." He slipped his hands into his pockets.
"Yes, and that’s why I need your help. You were ranked the highest in the trig test. So I really need your help catching up." She joined her two hands together. "Pleaseeee."
Mason stared at her, confused. He didn’t know what to think of it, but he shrugged it off with a sigh. "Whatever, I’ll help, but it can’t be today, or tomorrow."
"Fine by me, I’m Sophia by the way." She stretched her hand out for a shake with a smile on her face.
"Nice to meet you." He shaked her. "Well then, I guess I’ll see you later." He walked away, then glanced over his shoulders and found the girl still smiling at him.
’Hm, that’s one of the weirdest conversations with a girl I’ve ever had.’ He thought.
As he disappeared down the hallway, her smile faded. She glanced left, then right. Certain the coast was clear, she slipped into an empty classroom.
She lifted her hand, revealing a small circular device in her palm. In an instant, a translucent blue panel flared to life above it.
"It’s me."
[Kruulith, have you found what we’re looking for?]
A voice spoke from the interface.
"Yes, I have. And it appears to in the possession of a human."
[A human? Dispose of him and retrieve the D.A.C]
"It’s not that simple, it seems to have already bonded with his genetic code."
[Bonded with his genetic code? A human? Absurd. Retrieve the D.A.C, no matter the cost, Agent Kruulith.]
The panel disappeared, leaving only the irritated smile on Sophia’s face. "Mason Harris huh?"
