Chapter 65: Giving Away?

Fei Chuan glared at her.

Bei Sangyun sighed. Why was it so hard to convince this stubborn man?

She fished out her own phone from her pocket and unlocked it. She passed the phone to Fei Chuan.

"If you don’t trust me, you can do the same thing to me and threaten me. Call that damn father of mine if you want, or the Old Master in the Lin family, I don’t care. You can tell them that I was bullying you and that you want to report me or something. Anyway, one word from you might cause me to be punished."

Bei Sangyun stared into his eyes, "Just let me fix this for you. Then I promise I won’t bother you ever again. You can hold that phone for leverage."

Fei Chuan looked at the phone that Bei Sangyun was offering. He let go of her waist and took her phone, putting it in his pocket. Then he answered Grandma Pei’s call.

It was better to have leverage against Bei Sangyun. This phone might come in handy in the future.

"The call suddenly ended..." Grandma Pei’s concerned voice sounded.

"I pressed it wrongly, grandma." It was Fei Chuan who spoke this time.

Grandma Pei: "Where is Little Sangyun? Is she still with you?"

"Yes, grandma, I am still here. About what I was saying earlier—" Bei Sangyun started. She had a long script in her head to convince Grandma Pei. After all, Fei Chuan was still in high school, and the treasured prince couldn’t just go with anybody.

"Of course! You can bring him with you. Young Master rarely goes out with his friends ever since he left the village. It will be good to have you around. I will send some of his things to your address then."

Bei Sangyun, who prepared to recite a long script: "...."

Just like that? Grandma Pei agreed?

Grandma Pei asked excitedly. "How many days is your overnight project? Should I prepare a lot?"

Bei Sangyun looked at Fei Chuan in doubt. Are you still the treasured young master of Grandma Pei? Why does it seem like Grandma Pei wants to give you away?

Fei Chuan also frowned. "Grandma, I will be only stay there for one night—"

"Two," Bei Sangyun suddenly interjected. She covered the microphone, "One day is not enough for your face to heal."

Fei Chuan: "...."

"Two days? Alright. I will send your things to Driver Wang. You can get them after your class. Do you need anything else, Young Master? How about your books?"

"No, grandma. Just a few changes of clothes is fine."

"Alright. I’ll also send you some snacks so that you and little Sangyun will have something to enjoy while doing your project. Oh, right, Little Sangyun, how are the cookies I sent for you?"

"Cookies?"

Fei Chuan stiffened. Bei Sangyun looked at him and figured it out.

"Ah.... The cookies. They’re as delicious as ever, Grandma Pei."

"Haha. I’m glad you still like them," Grandma Pei laughed happily. "Young Master, study well and have fun. Make sure to call me if you need anything."

Fei Chuan clenched his fist. Grandma Pei sounded so happy. He couldn’t let her worry.

"Sure."

When the call ended, a long silence lingered between them.

Bei Sangyun raised an eyebrow. "So? Do you believe me now?"

"That remains to be seen."

There was no way Bei Sangyun was doing this solely for his sake. What could her reason be?

He was worried that this might be another trap. However, as Bei Sangyun pointed out, he couldn’t return home with visible bruises on his face.

Regardless, he resolved to figure it out and maintain his guard. For now, the most crucial thing was not to cause Grandma Pei any worry.

"Geez. You really want me to open this for you, huh? Fine, young master," Bei Sangyun sarcastically remarked as she pushed the keys to the gym’s door.

The door swung open, revealing the spacious gym.

"You can take a look around. No one is hiding here. If I remember correctly, there’s a medical kit in the second locker. If you want to change your bandage, use that. You can also sleep on the bench. Just stay here while I arrange a place for you to stay for these two nights."

Fei Chuan scanned the gym but found no one. He inwardly sighed in relief. At least this place didn’t seem to be a trap. But then he paused when he heard Bei Sangyun mention an arrangement.

"What arrangement?"

"I have to look for a hotel where you can stay for two nights. Or don’t tell me you actually expected that I would let you stay at my house?"

Fei Chuan: "...."

He would never admit it had crossed his mind that Bei Sangyun might actually be letting him stay in her house. Although, he’d prefer to stay in a cheap motel than at the tyrant’s house.

Fei Chuan responded with a grumble, "I’m not that dumb."

Bei Sangyun watched as Fei Chuan took a bench to sit down.

He then retrieved a container from his blazer’s pocket. The cookies were all broken, but he had protected them well.

Bei Sangyun suddenly remembered what Grandma Pei had mentioned.

"So Grandma Pei still remembers me?"

Fei Chuan opened the container. The aroma of chocolate cookies calmed him down. The injuries in his body seemed to hurt less. Come to think of it, he hadn’t been able to eat because of those bastards.

Now he was finally feeling hungry.

"Grandma Pei never forgets about you," he casually replied as he took one cookie. But when he finished speaking, he paused. Did he just respond to her?

He frowned and harrumphed. He shouldn’t really lower his guard.

"Oh really?" Bei Sangyun took a seat on a nearby bench. "Grandma Pei seemed happy to learn that we are classmates. She’s still the same kind grandma."

It really surprised Bei Sangyun that Grandma Pei remembered her and seemed to have a good impression of her. If not, Grandma Pei wouldn’t have agreed to let Fei Chuan stay with her.

"You said you barely remember the past. How come you naturally recognized Grandma Pei’s voice?" the man sarcastically asked.

"I saw her name in the contacts."

Fei Chuan: "...."

Right. She did go through his contacts.

"But... isn’t she angry with me? How come she’s still friendly?"

Fei Chuan bit into his cookie. "Why would she be angry with you?" the man asked back irritably.

Bei Sangyun fell silent.

So, it means Grandma Pei was never angry with her?

But in the past...

Bei Sangyun’s mind wandered to the old woman in her memory....

She remembered that gloomy day. It was cloudy as if it would rain at any moment. On the silent grave, the cry of an old woman resounded.

’Young Master, she’s gone now. Why aren’t you letting go? The woman who made you suffer is no longer here, so why are you still suffering?’

She already had one foot in her grave. She looked worried and exhausted. But she could not leave while her dear young master was suffering under the shadow of a deceased woman.

That was the last image of Grandma Pei for her.

"Grandma blamed herself back then. You suddenly disappeared, and..." Fei Chuan trailed off. He muttered annoyingly, "But she isn’t the only one blaming themselves. But it doesn’t matter now."
