Chapter 1163: Scheme (II)

The first thing that Li Hao saw was a smear of orange light. His eyes focused on a set of orange armor. At the commander level, armor appearance could be customized according to one’s preferences.

This level was one level higher than division leaders such as Li Hao. While division leaders were also hailed as generals, they were major generals. Commanders were lieutenant generals, with some commanders of the main force at even higher positions. Of course, those were few and far in between.

Light flickered in the black eye pits of the orange armor, but it was very, very weak.

“General Pagoda, Guardian Turtle...” The reserve commander looked around the assembly and took a while to collect his wits. “Capsize Sea is also present, and... the Eleventh Division leader?”

His voice ended on a question. He could clearly sense Li Hao’s designation and see that the newcomer was of the reserve defenders. But he was also well aware that there were only ten divisions in the reserve defenders.

Where did an eleventh division come from?

But since this unknown entity was a right and proper division leader, it must have received the support of the two guardians, the army, and others when he was asleep.

“Commander Wu is finally awake!” The old turtle was immensely excited; some hints of mundane emotion also wrapped around General Pagoda. “It’d been so many years that we thought... Thank goodness you can awaken. This means your injuries are much better than before.”

“I thought I wouldn't be waking up again either. In fact, I thought the guardian’s voice was a dream when I heard it.”

They exchanged several pleasantries while the old turtle gave a brief overview of recent events. The commander was quite taken aback by everything that had happened.

“So it has been one hundred thousand years in the blink of an eye... I can scarcely believe it. No wonder the Eleventh Division leader’s sword intent is so high spirited, being the descendant of the Sword Sovereign...” Wu Peng paused with emotion. “Then, does this mean that everyone has come to revive me, in hopes of fighting the powerhouse that is possibly Zheng Yu?”

“I do suspect that he is Zheng Yu,” Li Hao nodded. “But I am not certain of it yet.”

It was simply suspicion. No one could be certain before battle was engaged.

“I am honor bound to take action since he is a traitor of New Martial! The two guardians and Sea Pacification Envoy are already willing to take action. If I resurrect, I will not shirk my duties!” Wu Peng continued, “The Ninth Division leader stands a chance to ascend to the Saint level with this resurrection. This increases our chances then.

“Except... the guardian just mentioned that the Eleventh Division leader’s Stellaris has broken. Will you be able to bring Saint level strength to bear? If you cannot, this matter is better off left to us. The gap between Empyrean King and Immortal is rather enormous.”

Commander Wu was a much more gentle person than the Ninth Division leader. Perhaps it was a result of him overseeing the reserve defenders. Being skilled in defense, he wasn’t as aloof as his comrade.

“I’m working on repairing Stellaris,” Li Hao responded. “While it will be difficult to kill a Saint, fighting a regular Saint is still feasible...”

“That’s good, the division leader is a descendant of the Sword Sovereign alright! You are an extraordinary genius!” Wu Peng nodded, his orange armor particularly eye-catching.

“Then we must make haste, Commander Wu,” Li Hao pressed. “We will immediately make preparations to revive the commander. I have quite a bit of Immortal power left. If we throw in Water of Life and large sums of energy stones, that should be enough...”

“Then... I thank the Eleventh Division leader!” Commander Wu laughed with ready acceptance. “It is quite a different sensation to wake after so many years and fight again.”

“Then... shall we do it here?” Li Hao flashed a smile.

“Let’s just do it here.”

“Sounds good!” Li Hao nodded. “But before we begin, I must trouble the commander to visit the new dao universe with me and obtain the new dao’s recognition. That will avoid some trouble after you leave the ruins. Having some of the new dao’s presence on you will prevent the world from targeting you too much.”

The old turtle hadn’t spoken of this earlier, so Commander Wu was shaken by what he heard. “A new dao universe? And the Eleventh Division leader can freely walk in and out of it?”

“Just barely.”

“That is interesting...” The commander turned emotional again. “To think that Silver Moon would birth a new dao after one hundred thousand years! It’s rather incredible. No wonder the Eleventh Division leader can reach such a high cultivation level at such a young age. With the dao universe as your basis of support, it won’t take long before you gain a deeper understanding of the great dao.

“However, will it affect you to bring me into the dao universe?”

“That’s alright. There will be no effect so long as the commander does not disturb the dao universe.”

“That I will not do! It is already quite a fortuitous occurrence that I can witness the new dao universe...” Wu Peng exclaimed, then looked at the others. “Have the rest of you visited it already?”

“I have once, it was quite magnificent!” nodded the old turtle. “I had some gains from it, but I know too little of the new dao and could only appreciate its vast magnificence. I would likely have to actually walk the new path myself if I wished to have tangible gains.”

“A new dao... The appearance of a new dao is gratifying indeed.” The commander inclined his head. “I wonder if the core origin universe still exists?” He looked at Li Hao. “The Eleventh Division leader is most generous. Most would fervently keep this discovery to themselves. You are the descendant of the Sword Sovereign alright, to be willing to show us around in it...”

Li Hao smiled and didn’t respond. He simply took a longer look at the commander. Commander Wu spoke in gentle tones, but was slightly wordy. The Ninth Division leader was the typical taciturn person who wants nothing more than to say nothing at all.

Time was of the essence. They needed to confirm the commander’s allegiance, resurrect him, and head over to the Tranquil Star ruin as soon as possible. Li Hao didn’t have too much time to spend on small talk.

“Since the Eleventh Division leader is willing to bring us in for a look around, I would not feel right turning your kind intentions down. Then... are we able to enter it now?”

“We can.”

“Guardian Turtle and General Pagoda, will you be coming with us? Will it harm the division leader if you bring in too many?”

“Just me and Commander Wu will do,” Li Hao said. “A bit too much pressure comes down on me still when I bring in too many Saints.”

The young man suddenly felt that this guy was probably a chatterbox in life. He talked too much!

Granted, it was normal if one wanted to run their mouth right after awakening from so many years of sleep. It’d been too long since the commander had had company.

Li Hao cut through the void once more; a universe appeared over his head.

Although he was yet to enter, an awestruck Commander Wu sighed when he saw it.

“I can sense how transcendent the great dao is before I even enter it! I would love to learn more about the new dao if an opportunity presents itself. I hope the Eleventh Division leader will be generous in your teachings...”

“Not a problem.” Li Hao set foot without another word. “Come, Commander Wu.”

The commander rose into the air as well and entered the fissure.

......

Inside the Hao Cosmos.

Li Hao’s faintly furrowed brow immediately relaxed. He reached out into the dark expanse and wrapped darkness around the immediate vicinity. Commander Wu stepped through in the next second.

The fissure disappeared behind them and the commander walked further in. He looked around him with puzzlement.

“Is the dao universe this gloomy?”

However, Li Hao’s brows began knitting together again. The void was shaking around him and a thunder tribulation seemed on the verge of forming. How could this be? This was the senior executive of Battle Heaven, the commander of the reserve defenders and the highest ranked official of the army at the moment!

Li Hao had thought that there would be no one on Red Moon or Red Dust’s side in Battle Heaven. But now, it was hard to say.

Could the commander be a similar case to Capsize Sea and accidentally come in contact with Red Moon power? Or... was this not an accident?

The young man had realized the second the commander entered that this had been an unwise course of action. The greatest indicator was that the pressure bearing down on him had increased by many times. Outsiders that were too strong would result in a great deal of pressure on him if he brought them into the dao universe.

However, a Saint who’d been asleep for one hundred thousand years and lacking a physical body shouldn’t be as strong as even an Immortal. Li Hao felt no pressure about bringing an Immortal inside.

The young man didn’t say anything and kept the darkness around them. The thunder tribulation was already stirring to life, but he forced it down.

“Please wait for a moment, Commander Wu,” his voice echoed through the void. “There will be a momentary traversing of spacetime when you enter the dao universe. You’ll complete the passage soon!”

“Mmhmm, I’m not in a hurry,” the commander answered forthrightly.

Li Hao frowned ferociously. He trusted Battle Heaven a great deal—he wouldn’t have continuously gone back to them among the eight cities otherwise. Resurrecting one more Saint would give him one more source of reassurance against that one. He’d wholeheartedly supported the resurrection of the reserve commander, but... reality ran counter to his expectations.

The young man said nothing more as he wrapped the dao of darkness around them. He disappeared from the premises, leaving various instructions behind.

“There will be some turbulence in travel and lightning might descend around you. This is a necessary process of piercing through the universe’s barrier. Please be careful, Commander Wu. You only need to remain unmoving in place. I will open the passageway soon...” Li Hao disappeared; Commander Wu soon sensed some disturbances.

A bolt of lightning descended before long and smashed into the orange armor with a loud crash of thunder.

......

Li Hao reappeared in the small building. The group blinked when they saw him return. That was so fast! Had they exited as soon as they went inside?

The young man was solemn as he looked at the old turtle and General Pagoda. He thought for a moment and decided not to keep this from them.

“There may be something wrong with Commander Wu... but I’m not one hundred percent sire! I may need a helper as I cannot support too many Saints within the dao universe. Who is willing to head inside with me?”

The old turtle and General Pagoda blinked at Li Hao’s words.

“That’s... impossible,” the old turtle said incredulously. “He is the greatest among us and I’ve been awake all this time. If he really was...”

Li Hao didn’t say anything. Perhaps you being awake all this time is the reason why he hasn’t done anything. If you hadn’t been, this may not be the situation we face now.

Everything being fine with the old turtle was the greatest assurance that Battle Heaven possessed. Because it was awake and was a Saint, no one from Red Moon or Red Dust’s side would dare take action even if they successfully infiltrated the city.

As for whether or not Commander Wu was compromised... he most likely was.
