Chapter 1192: An Empyrean King Falls (I)

Five powerhouses advanced on the last Saint at the same time; despair dawned in his eyes. He suddenly looked at the old turtle, “I am...”

Bam!

Li Daozong pierced through the void with this sword, both sword intent and killing intent soaring to the heavens. We know who you are!

They’d recognized the traitors as soon as the latter erupted with power. So what of it? Death was the only thing in store for these backstabbers!

Li Daozong’s sword intent was sharper than Li Hao’s and his blow was stronger than before. Power collected in his body and he shouted, driving his sword incontrovertibly forward. The world seemed like it would be ripped to pieces!

Boom!

Space cracked as one sword became thousands, all of them heading straight for the target. The last Saint paled with horror and brought all of his strength to bear in a final punch. Li Hao had disappeared moments ago, but now reappeared with his sword leveled in a blow as well!

Capsize Sea brought its hooves down on the ground and shook the world with its trampling. Everyone on the battlefield fell this way and that!

The Saint bore the brunt of the quaking and was nearly outright shaken to pieces. General Pagoda sent countless branches through the air when it saw the Saint’s condition. The world was almost ripped apart by opposing forces!

KABOOM!

The Saint fractured and exploded, reduced into dust. Even his mental strength was eradicated.

Li Hao hovered in the air and reached out with a hand. The void disgorged three avenues with a tremble, like there were three people suspended there.

Apart from the old turtle sighing to itself, no one else cared or felt regret—not Li Daozong. Li Hao, or Capsize Sea. They took to the air and darted into the avenues of core origin.

CRACK!

The three avenues snapped at the same time, alongside the three Saint’s final screams of agony. Their great dao had broken! This meant their final death. Unless New Martial returned and the Human King paid the price to resurrect them, they would no longer exist in the world.

At the same time, Yu Hai’s sword descended in the distance as he killed the last desolate beast. He heaved for breath, blood splattering his face. He’d paid a slight price to kill the five Saint level desolate beasts so quickly, but it wasn’t worth mentioning compared to the end result of five dead Saint desolate beasts.

Both he and Li Hao had used the fastest speed possible to kill their opponents. Nine Saints were dead in the blink of an eye, but Yu Hai continued to frown. Why... was the chaos still present? Based on his thoughts, the chaos should have retreated after the desolate beasts were dead. It might even outright disappear, they should be enveloped by heavenly will instead. The second awakening should’ve spontaneously begun.

But why... was the chaos still here? Was it because the other desolate beasts still lived? There were still quite a few doing battle with the Silver Moon powerhouses. Was it because these non-Saint desolate beasts existed?

Yu Hai was just about to shift into a further offensive when the void trembled around him. Powerhouses appeared in the blink of an eye.

“Congratulations, senior,” Li Hao smiled. “You’ve entered the Empyrean King level, haven’t you?”

“It was a happy, fortuitous circumstance.” Yu Hai nodded with a smile, the look in his eyes dancing around. “I just so happened to ascend to Empyrean King...”

He looked at the desolate beasts to the rear. They were incurring high casualties as well, and frantic after seeing their Saint leaders die. The desolate beasts quickly lost a few more after that.

“King of Barren Dynasty, help Skystar eliminate all of the desolate beasts!” Li Hao turned with a yell.

The Barren king was astonished beyond belief. He knew that he’d been taking a gamble, but hadn’t thought that the six Saint level desolate beasts would die so swiftly. They’d died far too quickly; even the three Red Dust Saints were dead as well!

At the same time, he knew that Li Hao and the one who’d killed the desolate beasts weren’t necessarily working together. Perhaps Li Hao hadn’t thought much of these desolate beasts or Saints to begin with.

“Army of the great Barren Dynasty!” he roared at his troops. “We are humans, not puppets of desolate beasts! Work in tandem with the Skystar army to kill the desolate beasts!”

Quite a few of the soldiers looked around blankly at the command. The two armies were still clashing in battle and both sides had incurred heavy casualties. Barren had lost at least one hundred thousand, Skystar’s losses numbered in the tens of thousands. They were suddenly supposed to drop their hostility and help Skystar kill the desolate beasts?

What kind of joke was that??

Even though these were orders from their king, there were soldiers that did not understand them. They shouted angrily and ignored the orders to continue killing Skystar troops.

Damn it, their king had betrayed Barren!

The soldiers that defied orders and continued attacking Skystar suddenly had their eyes turn red. They flew into a berserk fury and threw themselves at desolate beasts nearby in suicidal charges.

BAM!

The desolate beasts immediately slaughtered the soldiers, but the humans managed to leave some bloody marks on their targets as well.

A sinister presence emanated from Gan Wuliang’s body nearby, filling the area. Vast sums of Barren soldiers flung themselves forward like they were crazed demons. Almost all of them were cavalry—their steeds frothed at the mouth and blew themselves apart. Just those detonations alone were sufficient to kill the weaker desolate beasts that waded into the battlefield!

Aghast, the Barren king whipped his head around to face Gan Wuliang. He was about to speak when an overwhelming presence came down on him.

“General Gan Wuliang is helping the king eradicate the rebels,” Director General Zhao said softly. “Only with loss is there gain, Your Majesty. Such is the way of prolonged survival!”

Weakening the four nations was a commonly held view among the Skystar group. Hence, no one said anything after Gan Wuliang returned from Great Li—the man had caused the death of many Great Li elites on his way out. They only thought that he’d done a great job!

Although the Barren king currently worked with Li Hao and the two shared an accord in many matters, there were many who chafed at the bit among the Barren calvary. Since that was the case, they could all die here!

The Barren king looked around, horror stricken. It’d only taken a few moments for tens of thousands of soldiers to die. Added to that their previous losses, it meant that there was only roughly eight hundred thousand left of the Barren army.

At the same time, he knew that the entire army might be obliterated here today if he didn’t acquiesce. So although he was furious at how his men were being used, he could only force out a smile.

The king turned without a word and set his sights on the closest desolate beast. He was in a very violent mood. The old man who normally didn’t seem to have the strength to wring a chicken’s neck snarled and ripped into his target like he was a desolate beast himself.

Bam bam bam!

Punch after punch followed—he beat an Immortal level desolate beast to death in the blink of an eye!

The Barren army was still executing its suicidal charge. Bodies littered the battlefield!

......

Yu Hai didn’t stop the unfolding carnage; he watched silently. He was also waiting, waiting for these desolate beasts to die. Perhaps the chaos would fully dissipate after they were all dead. The world would spontaneously revitalize because Barren had occupied a lot of land. Once all of that returned to the world, surely it would be much more stable.

He waited! As did Li Hao and the others. They were positioned in various directions to surround Yu Hai. The void overhead shuddered continuously and grave expressions were apparent on the five’s faces.

Their target was too strong. He’d killed five Saints, but his presence still billowed commandingly. The old turtle and others had actually guessed who Yu Hai was, but they couldn’t believe their speculation.

If that person was here, who was Red Dust?

They were confused, but also very grave. This was a veteran Empyrean King that they faced!

Desolate beasts died amid howls and keens of agony. Their corpses started piling up on the battlefield, nearly turning it into a mountain of bodies and sea of blood. Desolate beast bodies could be found everywhere!

Heavenly will swept through the four corners, seeming to cheer as it expelled the chaos. Chaos presence was dissipating, a fact that brought a smile to Yu Hai’s face. It would be easier for the second awakening to begin now. Zheng Yu would show himself then, to say nothing of everyone else.

......

Galewind.

Zhang An frowned and looked into the distance once more. Barren was turning from darkness to light and the chaos looked to be fading away. The world seemed more secure than before. Had Li Hao... not considered this?

Inside the city, Red Dust also frowned. Truth be told, he didn’t hold much hope for this battle starting the second awakening. He knew some inside information and that the chaos wouldn’t dissipate so easily. It would rather be the world that recovered to the point it’d reached before Boundless started absorbing energy.

A massive suction force traveled throughout the land just as his thoughts traveled here. Boundless was taking in energy again.

But these efforts were futile if the chaos fully disappeared. It would only decrease the energy in the world, but the world itself would still be stabilized. By then, those in the ruins would be able to walk out even if there was a lack of energy.

......

Yu Hai sensed the renewed suction from Boundless, but didn’t mind. So what if the city took in some more energy?

He waited expectantly when the last desolate beast died, but his expression soon turned odd.

“Young friend Li Hao,” he suddenly said to Li Hao’s group. “Aren’t you worried about the imminent second awakening?”

“There’s nothing to worry about,” Li Hao nodded. “The senior might not be aware, but the chaos will not fade away so easily...”

“Does it have something to do with the Barren humans? Does their chaos presence still exist?”

Li Hao shook his head with a smile when he saw how eager the man was. “No, it’s because the will of chaos is still present. Just like the heavenly will, its presence ensures the existence of chaos.”

“I see!” Yu Hai nodded with some regret. “That means... it’s the white horse. I wondered why those desolate beasts were so urgent and kept their eye on the girl, wanting her to return. So it’s because... the white horse is the will of chaos, is it not?”

This person truly had keen senses.

“The senior is wise!” Li Hao nodded.

Yu Hai sighed. No wonder! So this was the truth! In that case, there was no point in killing the desolate beasts. But it wasn’t too late to learn of this now. He could kill these people, then kill the white horse. That would naturally start the second awakening.

The world is still ours then!
