Star Wars: Daimon's Story-Chapter 49: End of the Hundred Years of Darkness
Chapter 49 - End of the Hundred Years of Darkness
A week later, a new agreement was signed between the Republic and the Veldari Imperium. The agreement outlined the free movement of Republic and Veldari ships between each other's borders for the duration of the war. This allowed Daimon to send his fleets after the Dark Jedi faction.
A special task force was set up to start coordinating efforts with the Republic military to start hunting down the Dark Jedi fleets and ground troops. The Task Force would be called Task Force Aurora and would be led by Grand Marshal Threxar. The title of Grand Marshal was reserved for members of the Order of the Balance Keepers who served directly under either Daimon or any of the other Progenitors.
The requirements to reach this rank, required one to have attended the Academy of War and have spent 15 years as an Officer. Then you would have to be nominated by all 6 members of the Circle of Harmony. Once those two steps are done, you will be tested by one of the Progenitors to see if you meet the set requirements.
Lastly you would go in front of Daimon himself and be judged before either being appointed to the position or rejected. So far, the Imperium had 3 Grand Marshals who are military leaders in a number of roles within the military. From overseeing planetary defense during the time of war to leading interstellar campaigns.
As the Months passed, Task Force Aurora hunted down and destroyed numerous bases and facilities belonging to the Dark Jedi. Now after months, they had finally tracked down the Dark Jedi Dren Volrek, one of the original 12 Masters who fled the Jedi Order with hundreds of other Jedi Knights and Padawans.
Grand Marshal Threxar stood on the bridge of the Judicator, watching the holographic projections of the final assault against Dren Volrek's forces unfold. The Dark Jedi had been cornered within the Phaedros Nebula, a vast and treacherous expanse of gas clouds and ionized storms that made standard ship sensors unreliable.
"This is where he makes his last stand," Threxar muttered to himself.

The combined forces of Task Force Aurora and the Republic had been closing in on Volrek's stronghold for weeks. Intelligence had confirmed that Volrek was attempting to rally what remained of the Dark Jedi under his command, but with most of their forces destroyed or scattered, this was nothing more than a desperate last stand.
Threxar turned to his second-in-command, Vice Admiral Solvar. "Launch the assault. Ensure that the fleet keeps the perimeter secured. We cannot allow Volrek to escape."
"Aye, sir," Solvar nodded before relaying the command.
As the Imperium and Republic fleets advanced, turbolasers and laser cannons lit up the void. The Dark Jedi fleet, outnumbered and outgunned, formed a defensive perimeter around the fortress hidden within the gases of the nebula. Their ships, older fired back in response. Explosions rippled through the battlefield as fighters engaged in deadly dogfights.
On the surface of the world, Republic and Imperium ground forces had landed and begun their push toward the main citadel. Dren Volrek himself stood atop the fortress walls as he gazed down at the incoming assault. His yellow lightsaber coming to life. He would not flee from this battle. He would meet his foes in battle.
The first wave of Imperium commandos breached the outer perimeter, exchanging blaster fire with Dark Jedi acolytes and their monstrous abominations. Volrek moved like a shadow through the battlefield, cutting down Republic soldiers with deadly precision. His power in the Dark Side was immense, fueled by years of hatred towards the Jedi Order.
As he came across the Imperium commandos, however, he found himself halted in his tracks. Unlike Republic troopers, Imperium commandos were the elite Gen'Dai warriors, standing over seven feet tall. Their regenerative abilities made them nearly unkillable, their bodies able to heal from even the most grievous wounds. But more than that, they carried the power of the God-Emperor within them, making them formidable adversaries against even the strongest of Force users.
The Gen'Dai commandos charged forward, their massive armor-clad bodies shrugging off blaster bolts as they closed in on Volrek. He spun his lightsaber in an arc, slicing through one, only to see the wound seal almost instantly. Another Gen'Dai lunged forward, striking with a short vibroblade, forcing Volrek to retreat.
After getting some space the Dark Jedi extended his hand and unleashed a wave of lightning ripping through the battlefield. The Gen'Dai were halted momentarily but did not fall, their bodies absorbing the damage as they pushed forward. Volrek's frustration mounted, he had never faced foes like these.
Then, from the shattered remains of the outer wall, Grand Marshal Threxar joined the battle. His presence was so immense that it caused even Volrek to turn his head. In his hands was his double-bladed lightsaber.
Volrek's eyes narrowed. "So, the Imperium sends its greatest warrior to die by my hand."
Threxar remained silent, raising his blade. The was already over, but he just wanted to test the Dark Jedi to see just how far only dedicating yourself to one side of the force could take a person.
Volrek attacked first, charging at Threxar as his lightsaber clashed against Threxar's, sending sparks flying. The Grand Marshal met each strike with equal precision, countering each blow that forced Volrek onto the defensive. The Gen'Dai commandos formed a perimeter, ensuring that no one would interfere.
Volrek growled in frustration, his movements growing wilder, more desperate. He tapped deeper into the Dark Side, sending shockwaves of power through the ground, trying to break Threxar's defense. But Threxar remained unmovable.
With a sudden feint, Threxar sidestepped Volrek's next attack and delivered a devastating blow to his side, sending the Volrek flying. Before he could recover, Threxar moved in, driving his lightsaber through Volrek's chest.
Volrek gasped, his eyes wide in disbelief. He reached for his fallen weapon, but his strength failed him. The darkness within him had faded and his life was now gone.
Threxar withdrew his blade, stepping back as Volrek collapsed.
"This is Grand Marshal Threxar," he spoke into his comm. "Dren Volrek is dead. The battle is won."
Across the battlefield and in the skies above, cheers erupted. The battle against the Dark Jedi was over. But as Threxar gazed at the fallen Dark Master, he knew that true peace was still a distant dream. The galaxy would always be in conflict with dark and light forces constantly fighting each other. He didn't know when or if he would live to see it, but one day, the God-Emperor would turn his gaze towards the entire galaxy.
As the war against the Dark Jedi intensified, Task Force Aurora became the spearhead of the Imperium's military strategy against the Dark Jedi. Under Grand Marshal Threxar's leadership, the force rapidly adapted to the unconventional and brutal tactics employed by the Dark Jedi. The Imperium's research divisions developed countermeasures to the Dark Jedi's dark sorcery, utilizing and testing new advanced weaponry.
With the elimination of Volrek, the remnants of his army fragmented. Some went into hiding, others joined the other Dark Jedi armies, but without their leader, their efforts were disorganized. Task Force Aurora began sweeping operations, hunting down the last of these insurgents, ensuring that no trace of their existence remained.
Meanwhile, Daimon watched the unfolding events with the Dark Jedi. The Imperium had gained valuable insight into the Republic's military structure, and the war had given them the justification to extend their influence further into Republic space. His next steps were already in motion.
Threxar, however, had other concerns. He knew that killing one Dark Jedi did not erase the ideology they carried. He had fought in the war to reclaim Veldari and knew what needed to be done.
He had seen firsthand the resilience of those who harbored darkness within them. He knew that this war, while a victory, was merely a battle in an eternal struggle. But as a warrior, he knew his role was not to question the nature of war; he was there to fight and to lead his men to victory.
Leaving the cleanup to the Republic, Threxar was on his way to board his transport back to his flagship, when he heard someone call him. "Grand Marshall Threxar," called the voice.
Threxar turned around and saw two Jedi whom he hadn't seen before. "Yes, may I help you two Jedi?" he turned around and asked.
"I am Jedi Knight Badek and this is Knight Adne," Introduced the Badek as Threxar shook both of their hands. "We just wanted to confirm whether or not Daimon is actually the Emperor of the Veldari Imperium?"
Threxar nodded his head, "Yes, he is. And may I assume that you two are members of the Wardens of Unity?" the two nodded, "Yes, we were just hoping to one day be able to meet the founder of the Wardens of Unity." Threxar smiled, I will inform the God-Emperor of your wish. Perhaps when this conflict has ended, your paths might cross. Until then, remain steadfast in your commitment to his teachings."
"We will," Jedi Knight Adne replied. "May the Force guide you, Grand Marshal."
Threxar titled his head respectfully. "And may balance guide you on the right path."
With that, Threxar boarded his transport, leaving the two Jedi behind, who watched with admiration as the transport took off.
Their meeting marked the beginning of increased collaboration between the Wardens of Unity and the Imperium, significantly enhancing joint efforts against the remnants of the Dark Jedi.
In the years following the defeat of Dren Volrek, the Hundred Year Darkness continued to rage, though its intensity diminished as the Dark Jedi suffered repeated defeats. Task Force Aurora relentlessly pursued the Dark Jedi, destroying isolated pockets of resistance and securing strategic worlds for both the Imperium and the Republic. Worlds which were closer to Imperium space and not of importance to the Republic or were economically destroyed because of the war, was given to the Imperium.
By 6935 BBY, most of the Dark Jedi strongholds were eradicated, and many Dark Jedi leaders had fallen. The joint efforts of Imperium and Republic forces had managed to substantially weaken their enemies, but peace remained elusive, with insurgent cells continuing guerrilla tactics from hidden enclaves and remote systems.
Daimon leveraged these decades to consolidate the Imperium's power further, integrating liberated worlds into the Imperium. He fortified borders, established new academies, and invested in infrastructure to ensure economic prosperity and political stability. His influence expanded steadily, and the Imperium entered an era of growth with the new worlds being integrated into the empire.
By 6920 BBY, Grand Marshal Threxar, stepped down from direct military command, becoming an advisor and mentor to a new generation of Imperium commanders. His legacy was honored throughout the Imperium, his strategies against the Dark Jedi studied across military academies.
These strategies would help with dealing with both internal and external threats. This was the first time that the military was deployed to fight in a war, and they wanted to make use of this war to develop new strategies and get valuable real life training experience for officers.
By 6905 BBY, the remnants of the Dark Jedi were finally reduced to scattered, isolated factions without significant strength. Republic and Imperium patrols kept constant vigilance, and while the republic slowly regained stability, the scars of war remained.
In 6896 BBY, exactly fifty years after the fall of Dren Volrek, the galaxy entered a period of tenuous peace. The Dark Jedi had been captured and as expected, they were exiled from the Jedi Order. They were put into a ship which was stripped of all star charts, a navigation system, and left to drift within the void of space.
Daimon took advantage of this opportunity to be the one to establish the Sith Order to make it a little better than it was. This would set up the foundations for him to create a future enemy that the Republic and the Imperium will have to fight in the future.
While Balance was the ultimate goal, it was essential that the Force went through a dark and light faze in order for a major change to occur.
This cycle of light and dark, rise and fall, was not an error in the Force, but a design. The Force did not seek stillness. It sought motion and evolution. For centuries, the Jedi believed that light alone was the path to peace, and the Dark Jedi clung to the belief that power through passion alone could bring order. Both were incomplete. And that incompleteness led to stagnation, arrogance, and collapse.
The Hundred Year Darkness, for all its horror, had shattered these illusions. The atrocities committed by the Dark Jedi forced the Republic to confront its complacency. The rise of the Imperium forced the Jedi to see that order could exist outside of their philosophy. And it was Daimon, the one who embodied both sides who understood what others refused to admit; the Force demanded imbalance before it could be restored.
The Dark Jedi were a symptom, not the disease. They were born from suppression. The Jedi's fear of emotion, of passion, of uncertainty, created fertile ground for rebellion. That rebellion had to burn through the galaxy like wildfire before anything new could grow. Volrek, despite his cruelty, was necessary. So were the lives lost, the cities razed, the alliances broken and reforged. Each moment of darkness carved a new way in which light could eventually flow.
Threxar, despite being a military leader, understood this in his own way. His silence during battle wasn't emptiness, it was discipline forged by walking both sides of the line. He did not hate the Dark Jedi. He pitied them. They were consumed by a truth half-understood. Just as the old Jedi were blind to the full spectrum of the Force's will.
Daimon's creation of the Sith would not be born of evil, it was an act of preparation. He knew that light, left unchecked, would grow brittle. He needed the Sith not to conquer, but to challenge. To keep the galaxy evolving. To keep the Force alive through struggle.
The Wardens of Unity, too, were a product of this understanding. They were not Jedi, nor Sith. They were seekers of harmony, warriors of equilibrium. Their presence was a turning point. A movement away from extremism and toward understanding.
In the end, it was never about destroying darkness or preserving light. It was about learning from both. Letting them clash, bleed, break, and from that collision, forging something stronger.
