Starting as a Class Five Mutant-Chapter 589
Chapter 589 - 589
While the Goddess of Death and the other cosmic entities—Eternity, Infinity, and Oblivion—were deep in thought, Syd was quietly examining his own state.
After becoming a Creator God of another universe, he could clearly feel that his power ceiling had been greatly elevated. In fact, he could faintly sense that the forces of both universes were overlapping within him.
Of course, although he could now draw upon the energy of the other universe, the separation between universes caused some attenuation. Still, even with that, the boost was tremendous—enough to push him beyond the norm, exceeding the strength of standard Creator Gods.
Just how much stronger he had become, however, was hard to say. He hadn't tested it in combat yet.
And now, he was deeply curious.
What exactly was the power of his current abstract concept body?
Syd focused and began sensing carefully.
Light.
And since light is an electromagnetic wave—he now indirectly controlled one of the fundamental forces of the universe.
In addition, he discovered that he could now govern heat—cosmic warmth itself.
But that wasn't all.
To his surprise, he also began sensing another form of power.
"Emotion?"
More specifically—positive, radiant emotions.
Syd immediately made the connection and murmured to himself,
"So my guess was right. Balder's light doesn't only represent visible light, but the light within people's hearts..."
He suddenly recalled how Eternity had once described him:
"The one who represents light and heat, and... the positive aspect of the universe."
Syd grew thoughtful.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark and the others were nervously speculating from a distance.
Staring at the black-robed skeletal figure—Death—and the white-robed being of divine radiance—Syd, their whispers floated through the air:
"Do you think... the two of them are still going to fight?"
"Maybe not? Balder-sama's power just increased a lot..."
But before anyone could reach a conclusion, Death's skull-like jaw moved, her hollow voice laced with amusement:
"My youngest brother, newly born... I wonder, between us—the indelible powers of the cosmos—who is stronger?"
"I wanted to strike earlier, but didn't expect you to be hiding your identity. Turns out... you're one of us after all."
She paused, her voice growing more playful.
"Well, this is fine. As fellow Creator Gods, it won't look like I'm bullying you."
"I just wonder... will you be able to withstand me? If not, don't forget to yield early."
And before Syd could even frown, she moved.
Without hesitation, the Goddess of Death launched the first blow.
Under the stunned gazes of Thor and the others, twin streams of red flame shot from Death's hollow eye sockets.
BOOM!
In an instant, all they saw was fire—a blazing inferno engulfing the heavens, charging at incredible speed toward Syd.
"...Flames?" Syd frowned slightly.
They looked ordinary. Unremarkable.
Even if they were hellfire, they would mean nothing to his current abstract-form body.
After all, he could feel the transcendence of his new being.
Any attack below the level of a single-universe-class entity would likely be completely ineffective.
So why... was she using flames?
He wasn't the only one confused. Even Thor and the others found it odd.
"Just fire?"
"Even we could block that..."
As the flames surged forward and engulfed him, Syd's expression abruptly changed.
He felt it.
Hidden within those flames... was divine power.
Without question—it was the Goddess of Death's own power.
His mind raced back to the lore he had studied. He remembered—
Any attack from the Goddess of Death is lethal.
Any contact with her power... means death.
Touch = Death.
Even among abstract beings of their level, her abilities were no joke. Getting hit wouldn't kill them outright, but it would hurt—badly.
Even if the flames looked ordinary, they could burn even an abstract concept's essence.
And not just him.
Even Eternity, Infinity, and Oblivion would suffer the same if struck.
Death's divine power was unique.
Even a mortal, granted a portion of her strength, could harm abstract gods.
He recalled one infamous case—when Deadpool, empowered by Death, managed to punch Eternity and injure him.
It was absurd.
A mortal... harming a cosmic concept?
Ridiculous—yet real.
So no, Syd had no intention of "testing" those flames.
With a flicker of thought, he dissolved into light—his body disintegrating into strands of brilliance.
Tony and the others saw the flash—then watched in awe as the white-robed being slipped effortlessly through the fire, emerging untouched.
Some were puzzled.
"Why dodge... ordinary fire?"
But the Goddess of Death's chuckle answered them.
"So, you sensed it too?"
"Yes—those flames may look harmless, but they carry my divine power.
Anyone—mortal or divine—who touches them... will die."
The casualness in her voice left Thor and the others stunned.
"Wait... you die just by being touched?!"
"That's... cheating!"
"If anyone can be killed instantly, how do you even fight someone like that?!"
Their gazes turned again to Syd.
How was he supposed to win this?
On the other side, the other Creator Gods began to whisper amongst themselves.
"Death's divine power really is troublesome..."
"I wonder... how will our youngest brother handle this?"
"Besides, that was just a test—she hasn't even gotten serious."
Their eyes glimmered with interest.
Even before Syd became a Creator God, they believed Death could beat him.
Now?
Their opinion hadn't changed.
The real question was—how long could he last?
And in the shadows, Galactus—who had been watching everything—was nearly giddy with excitement.
At last...
He wouldn't be the weakest anymore.
