Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Crossing Over Death Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Crossing Over Death “The last will…”

In his sleep, Shard slowly regained consciousness with that voice repeating over and over.

In a trance, he realized he was standing once again on the endless ridge, looking up at the giant Silvermoon disk in the starry sky.

“Am I dreaming?”

At that moment, a voice came to him in the dream:

“Outlander, you have received a message.”

“What?”

Shard, bewildered on the ridge, fully awakened in his dream, was surprised by everything around him:

“Why am I here again in this dream?”

“A message has been conveyed to you through an unknown relic and method.”

As the voice faded, the voice that had echoed countless times came again clearly in the dream:

“Shard Hamilton, open your eyes, I am Lat August. This is the last will I bring to you from the world of the deceased.”

“Priest Augustus?”

In the dream, Shard felt a tingling in his scalp; he heard the message but couldn’t comprehend:

“Priest!”

He turned around, but there was no one on the ridge under the moon. Priest Augustus’s ethereal, hoarse voice still repeated, and Shard looked around bewildered, then suddenly raised his head and his hand:

“Ring of Fate!”

With the emergence of steam, the fast-spinning Ring of Fate appeared behind Shard. Under the moon, the Ring of Fate seemed coated in a layer of silver, yet this time without a sound.

“Echo!”

The first drop of Divinity imbued Spirit Rune suddenly emitted a dazzling golden light, and in this light, Shard used Arcane Technique:

“Soul Echo!”

On the ridge under the moon where only Shard had stood, a blurry figure gradually took shape.

“It’s really possible.”

Shard thought to himself.

The transparent body of Priest Augustus finally formed under the glow of Spiritual Light. He stood before Shard, surprised by his surroundings and looked up at the sky:

“Shard, where is this?”

“This is my dream.”

“This dream, it looks so bizarre.”

The priest looked even more surprised than Shard.

“That doesn’t matter, Priest, what exactly happened?”

Shard asked doubtfully. The priest’s spectral figure no longer gazed at the moonlight above but coughed and looked into Shard’s eyes.

Outlander suddenly had a very bad premonition.

“Oh, Shard, yes, there’s not much time, let’s talk business. I’m glad that I could see you one last time, it must be the blessing of our Lord. It’s simple, I have died, having crossed the boundary of death for some reason, and am—that means do not think of saving me, it’s not possible. It’s only because of the trait of the Relic, my Arcane Technique ‘The Last Will’, and the power I once gave you, that I can contact you now. This is my last will—remember it well—”

He coughed once again, not giving Shard any chance to ask questions:

“Do not look for my body, donate all my possessions to the Dawn Church’s Tobesk Parish. I leave my Potion Workshop to you, Shard, you need it.”

Additionally, regarding the Level 0 Relic that I buried in the church, ask Annette to find a way to dig it out. Don’t leave it in the church indefinitely.

Though there is no corpse, I hope to have a grave in Tobesk. Just bury my clothes in it. I once discussed the location of the grave with the doctor. Just tell him directly.

Lastly, I promised during winter to donate some quilts to Tobesk’s Sunlight Welfare Home. I hope you could contact Bishop Owen and donate those quilts in your name,”

“Priest…”

Shard reached out his hand, but it passed through the Priest’s translucent body.

Priest Augustus looked at Shard regretfully, under the massive moon disk of Silvermoon, his body rapidly became more transparent:

“Shard, I’m sorry, I’m really dead. Please accept this fact.”

He smiled at Shard, but his eyes were filled with sorrow:

“Every one of us might die, right?”

Shard could not accept this. He opened his mouth, only to find that he was like mute, unable to speak anymore.

“Don’t be sad for me. Every mortal dies, everything comes to an ultimate end. Shard, I am content having lived to this age. I am glad to have known you, and also happy to have known Schneider, Annette, and Luisa. It was you who made my later years so interesting. Shard, seeing you at the end was unexpected.

Farewell…”

A black portal silently appeared behind Priest Augustus, countless transparent hands reached out, grabbed his faint figure, and pulled him into the darkness.

The hands seemed to fear the bright light of the great Silvermoon above, but even so, they still grasped the Priest under the moonlight.

“Don’t!”

The moonlight flew out of his hand, but merely passed through those arms as if they were phantoms.

Shard reached out again, trying to hold onto the Priest, but his hand passed through the Priest’s translucent body. Looking back at the portal that extended numerous arms, dark, lonely, and deathly, Shard in the dream shivered as if he had truly seen the concept of death itself.

“Outlander, you are perceiving ‘death.'”

The Priest was pulled into the darkness, the moonlight illuminated the portal, which then disappeared, leaving only Shard in the posture of trying to hold onto Priest Augustus, with the Priest’s voice echoing in his mind.

“Priest Augustus, is he dead?”

He asked himself.

“No!”

He suddenly sat up in bed, startling the cat beside his pillow.

“What just happened?”

He gasped for air, thinking inwardly as he looked around his dark bedroom, feeling his back soaked with sweat. The curtains were tightly shut, but through the gaps, he could see the faint morning light, the night had passed.

Mia stood up, patted Shard’s hand on the bed with her little paws, seemingly trying to comfort him.

“The other had entered your dream, via ‘Echo’ your friend’s soul appeared briefly. You were able to sense the soul’s characteristics.”

“Priest Augustus? Is he really dead?”

In the dream, this fact felt surreal. After waking up and thinking about this, Shard felt the situation was even more absurd. He didn’t understand, completely didn’t understand, especially since he had just won ‘Big City Player 1853’, and Priest Augustus had only gone to Midshire Fort City on a business trip. Why had the Priest suddenly died?

“The deceased’s soul and the living person’s soul have a subtle bewilderment, he is indeed no longer living, but he has not yet died.”

“What does that mean?”

Shard sensed the implication in the words.

“He is in a delicate state, between being dead and not quite dead.”

“Is there hope?”

“Cannot provide an answer, but he is closer to death than a Circle Sorcerer is close to ‘another self.'”

Shard got out of bed and pulled open the curtains, outside he could already see the weak morning light, it was six ten:

“Dawn, death, Priest…”

He clenched his fist, looking at his reflection in the glass, dressed in pajamas:

“Priest, I won’t let you die, you just try and die! Next stop, Midshire Fort!”
