Stolen by the Beastly Lycan King-Chapter 52: It Could Not Be Good
Chapter 52: It Could Not Be Good
Lorelai's legs kept trembling as she slowly paced through the long, dim hallway of her stepbrother's quarters.
It could not be good. After last night's incident with the stimulant Lady Lucia had mixed into the plum wine, her family was bound to find out that something had been wrong. After all, she was supposed to meet Duke Kalder and spend time with him, but she evidently did not.
Kai had a reason to summon her today. He would definitely be mad.
Having reached her destination, Lorelai stopped and took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the air that only seemed to suffocate her even more.
It took her a while to get ready on her own because she did not want Marianna to see her body, and the Crown Prince eventually got tired of waiting and invited her to meet him in his "dark room" instead.
The princess got a little nauseous. What if he wanted to make her watch another bloody scene? Perhaps today, his threats would not be just empty words.
"Your Highness?" Finally, she rapped her knuckles on the door and invited herself in, carefully stepping inside the room.
Unlike before, the room was lit a lot better and the princess could see everything clearly.
Unfortunately, she did not feel happy about it. On the contrary, the view that greeted her made her halt in her steps as her body numbed completely.
'Why... is everyone here?'
Lorelai's eyes widened as they scanned the room. All of her personal servants and ladies-in-waiting were gathered and lined up in the middle of the room with Kai and Lady Lucia standing in front of them.
'Lady Lucia,' Lorelai's eyebrows knitted together as she observed her smug expression. 'So she told him. And he believed her.'
"Sister," Kai finally took a step forward and looked down at the princess. "As the future king of Erelith, when I tell you to do something, I expect you to listen and obey. Tell me, does it make sense to you?"
Lorelai threw a quick glance at Lucia, who was still grinning, then returned her eyes to the prince and nodded. "Yes, Your Highness."
"Then," he took another step forward, closing the distance between them. "What happened after you had told me that you would see Duke Kalder?"
The princess felt something sharp lodged inside her throat. She wanted to swallow but found herself choking instead. What could she possibly tell him? She knew he had already made his own conclusions. Whatever Lady Lucia told him, was the truth he believed.
"Quiet, huh?" Kai smirked down at her, then brushed a lock of her soft, blonde hair away from her shoulder, sliding his fingers over her neck before he moved up to grab her by the chin.
He jerked her face, forcing Lorelai to look into his deep green eyes, and then brushed his thumb over her still-swollen lower lip.
"Where did you go last night, Lorelai?"

The princess stared into her stepbrother's eyes for a while, struggling to remain composed. Her mind was in disarray as she desperately tried to come up with something believable. At last, her lips parted and the words poured out on their own.
"I waited for Duke Kalder in his chambers but when he did not show up after an hour, I left his room and went back to my quarters."
Kai's eyebrows arched as if he was caught off-guard by her response. Then, he squeezed her chin harder and burst into laughter, finally jerking his hand away.
"Lucia," he uttered her name coldly and the woman stood behind Lorelai like a loyal guard. Then, all of a sudden, she grabbed the princess by the arms and pulled them behind her back, forcing her to drop her cane.
Lorelai was trapped now, her heartbeat ringing in her ears.
"What are you doing?!" She screamed helplessly but both Kai and Lucia ignored her distress.
Instead, the prince picked up his sister's cane and stood before Lorelai's servants, a malicious grin playing upon his lips.
"I warned you last night that I do not want you anywhere near those animals. Yet, you disobeyed me again and even made your people lie to me."
"What––what are you talking about?"
Instead of answering, Kai raised the cane above his head, then turned around, and hit the first servant on the head.
The young maid cried and pain and fell onto her knees, her trembling hands covering her face. Blood rolled down her forehead and cheek while she was sobbing uncontrollably, her body shaking from pain.
"Stop it! What are you doing?!"
Kai kicked the crying maid to the side and walked up to the next one, playing with the princess' cane in his right hand. "I really don't get it, sister. I thought you would listen if you'd be the one getting hurt, but it appears I have been wrong. Perhaps this will be more effective then."
With that, he raised his hand again and hit another woman with the cane.
"No! Stop it! I will listen, I promise!"
Lorelai wriggled her body but Lucia's grip on her arms was too strong. She cried and screamed, urging the Crown Prince to stop, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.
Over and over, Kai continued to strike one maid after another, showing no mercy, until it was finally her ladies-in-waiting turn.
Baroness Darina Fenwyn, Lorelai's favorite lady-in-waiting after Marianna, closed her eyes, sobbing quietly as she anticipated the strike. Lorelai, blinded by tears, suddenly calmed down and Darina's frightened, pale face became painfully clear.
The princess did not really know what happened. At that moment, she felt possessed; as if all that pain and grief had erased her fears, granting her the strength she truly needed.
Desperate, she hit Lucia in the chest with her elbow, making her recoil and finally lose her grip on the princess' arms.
Startled, Lucia did not have enough time to react but before she knew it, a small hand landed a powerful slap on her face, knocking her off her feet.
"Lorelai!"
