Chapter 401: The Aftermath (2)

"Is that why none of you survived?" Silas asked slowly.

"Two of us are still alive, but I don’t think either one of us has the capability to truly fight anymore," Patrick replied calmly.

He knew very well that the Fourth Head of the Wansu City compromised by allowing the two of them to live. But having seen the darkness of Wansu City, Patrick truly didn’t want to be involved anymore.

His house arrest was actually something that Patrick actively brought up in the past.

Because only in this way would it be possible for others to leave him be.

He never made trouble and only stayed here and slowly grew stronger. There were no resources for him to advance quickly, but his own talent allowed him to become a powerful rank 6 magic warrior. For this reason, Patrick was very calm when he faced the Fourth Head of the Wansu City and the others again.

Patrick had no interest in the power struggle of Wansu City.

"Is it really the Fourth Head who...?" Silas asked quietly.

"Who knows?" Patrick shrugged. "It’s said to be an accident that they’re targeted when they took a mission outside, which resulted in their miserable condition. That brat from the White Family and the one from the Red family teamed up together and only the man from the Red Family returned, heavily injured. He failed to receive treatment in time and ended up as a cripple."

Silas nodded.

He knew this person, he’s Yun’s father. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Yun’s father used to be a brilliant genius from the Red Family, his name was famous and there were many people who loved him.

But after his accident, it could be said that his name slowly disappeared.

And it was only because of Silas’s interaction with Yun that he found out about Yun’s father’s glorious past. But it was all in the past and by now, Yun’s father didn’t seem to be willing to even go out of the Red Family Residence.

Yun’s mother came from the Green Family, which was why she took the Green Family’s surname.

"I was also attacked right after I took a mission out," Patrick said calmly. "But I survived because I concealed my family’s secret magic spell and came back to question the Fourth Head of the Wansu City. He said that he will investigate this matter but it didn’t take a month before I was provoked and fought heavily in Wansu City."

It was also because of his action of fighting that Patrick realized that he had fallen into a trap and couldn’t extricate himself.

"The elders and the Fourth Head of the Wansu City jointly set up a trap for me and I fell for it." Patrick shook his head.

"Is it really him?" Silas asked again.

"Yes." Patrick looked at Silas. "If it’s my incident, I can say for sure that it’s the Fourth Head of the Wansu City."

Silas’s heart tightened when he heard that.

It was no wonder he saw Aya’s undisguised hostility towards the Fourth Head of the Wansu City and her words when she confronted him at that time was still very clear in his ears. That the Fourth Head of the Wansu City would never let her off and would instead hand her over.

"What actually happened?" Silas asked.

"Oh, the war has just ended and some people from other cities come to negotiate peace." Patrick shrugged and then looked at the distance. "They targeted your uncle and wanted to let him take the blame after injuring them, but I beat them all up and killed them. They’re angry and the Fourth Head of the Wansu City is not willing to start another war.

So the two sides negotiated and it’s agreed that I’ll either go to Yansu City to atone to my mistake or stay in confinement for the rest of my life.... Well, the second option is given after I made another fuss in front of the Fourth Head of the Wansu City."

Patrick wanted to laugh when he thought about how dark the Fourth Head of the Wansu City’s face was when he found out that he was truly unruly and that those rules and regulations couldn’t control him.

As the head of Wansu City, the Fourth Head of the Wansu City was actually hoping that he would be the most powerful and control all of them.

But how could they be willing?

The four families’ teaching had taught them about their abilities and this made Patrick unwilling to submit to others. He’s arrogant to the bones and Patrick was proud of it. So no matter what the Fourth Head of the Wansu City did, he could not make Patrick listen to him.

So the compromise was made.

"Yansu City is dissatisfied, but the Fourth Head of the Wansu City can’t do anything to the Black Family." Patrick smirked. "After all, the previous Black Family Patriarch was still alive at that time and he was hoping that I can become more powerful after a few years of confinement."

Unfortunately...

It’s impossible.

"War started again afterwards and he passed away, your father wanted to get married to an ordinary woman, so the elders are dissatisfied with him. The position of the Black Family Patriarch finally fell on your uncle and no one could stop him.

We might be cousins, but I don’t have a good relationship with him. It’s already good enough if he didn’t stab me when I was down, so I can’t really hope that he will release him. It was truly unfortunate that the Black Family Patriarch died in the war, but nothing can change that."

Patrick was calm as he narrated what happened in the Black Family afterwards.

And these things were something that Silas himself knew. Even without the Fourth Head of the Wansu City’s intervention, his uncle had long wanted to take control of the Black Family.

Without Silas’s father and Patrick on the way, the Black Family Patriarch managed to succeed in that position.
