Stranger Danger-Chapter 1818: Pacifying Yin and Yang, Fixing Five Phases
The newly added patterns of the Earthly Sovereign Bell slowly lit up and mingled with the original patterns. They were now circulating with a deeper, grander, and more mysterious aura.
The stone pillars were originally the Earthly Sovereign Bell’s origin power. They were used to suppress the Endless Lord of Plagues. Now that the Earthly Sovereign Bell had regained them, it was only natural that it would become stronger.
After the Earthly Sovereign Bell had regained its origin power, the connection between Ye Qing and the Earthly Sovereign Bell became clearer and more tight-knit than before. It was at this moment he looked down at the Westmost Desert—the barren wasteland that had been ravaged by the power of plagues—with a small frown on his face.
The next moment, Ye Qing lifted a finger and tapped the old bell lightly.
Thang—!
A clear, resounding chime echoed through heaven and earth like a heavenly melody.
Unlike the ones used for destruction and suppression, this chime was stable, peaceful, and in possession of the miraculous power to restore order.
A dark yellow halo washed out to the surroundings like a ripple. It gently brushed across every inch of land.
The chaotic, rampaging earthly qi of the wasteland gradually became orderly under the profound light’s ministration, and the out-of-order energies of yin, yang, and the Five Phases were restored to their rightful places and original balance.
It was like a spring rain that nourished the living in silence.
A miracle happened then.
The howling, sandy wind of the Westmost Desert gradually calmed down and transformed into a surprisingly refreshing wind. It was weak, but it was definitely present.
The blazing sun that was so hot it felt like it wanted to burn all things to ash had turned gentle. It was no longer so bright that it was eye-piercing; so hot that it burned the flesh and blood.
The burning stench and dryness of the air were rapidly receding and replaced by a humid, refreshing air as well. It felt like sweet rain after a long drought.
Both the chaotic yin and yang and the unbalanced Five Phases had been restored.
In just a matter of moments, what was a desert of despair and desolation before was now exuding a tiny, almost indiscernible air of life.
The reason this vast, boundless desert—or the entire Xi Huang for that matter—was barren and lifeless weren’t completely because of natural disasters. Human interference was part of the reason as well.
Back then, the Earthly Sovereign was forced to sever the earthly veins, spiritual qi, and origin of life of this land in order to weaken the Endless Lord of Plagues and suppress it for as long as possible. On top of that, the Endless Lord of Plagues itself was an endless source of diseases and plagues, and it had infested this place for tens of thousands of years.
That was why the Westmost Desert had utterly lost its vitality and turned into a dead land where even a single blade of grass could not grow.
But now, Ye Qing and his allies had slain the Endless Lord of Plagues and the source of the calamities plaguing this land. Naturally, there was no longer any need to maintain the disorder the Earthly Sovereign had sown. That was why he had used the Earthly Sovereign Bell to restore the natural order of this place.
The desert was still covered in yellow sand as far as the eyes could see, but Ye Qing knew that the change was already ongoing.
It might take decades or centuries, but this despair-filled land would one day regain a shiny, vibrant coat of green. The trees would grow, the grass would flourish, and the flowers would bloom. The beasts and birds would one day return to this land and make it their home.
“Excellent!”
Having witnessed everything Ye Qing did from the start until the end, the Chief Libationist stroked his beard and gave Ye Qing an approving, proud look. “You are definitely walking in the footsteps of senior Earthly Sovereign. I can already see his great benevolence and virtue in you.”
Ye Qing merely smiled and answered simply, “You flatter me, senior. I will never call myself benevolent or virtuous. I do what I do simply because I want to have a clear conscience.”
“And a clear conscience you have!”
The Chief Libationist rubbed his palms and laughed candidly and happily. “To desire not fame or beneficence, but only peace of heart! That is what living truly is about! This deserves a toast, I say! Hahaha...”
Ye Qing joined in on the laughter as well.
Their echoing laughter gradually disappeared with the wind. Ye Qing, the Chief Libationist, and everyone else had long disappeared into the horizon.
Underneath the reformed land and charred soil, an incredibly tiny shoot pushed away the tough sand blocking its head and faced toward the gentle sunlight. Then, it stubbornly unfurled its first green leaf.
It was a symbol of life, and the prelude to light.
......
To the north of the Northern Sea and bordering the Deep Abyss, there existed an ocean that turned everyone’s face white as soon as they heard its name—the Primal Chaos Ocean.
It also happened to be the convergence point of the four seas and where all natural law and order seemed to have been abandoned entirely.
Its sea water was neither azure blue or bluish green. Instead, it was a grayish black color that was everchanging and absolutely chaotic. Sometimes, it would conjure violent waves that crashed into an invisible border with a deafening impact. Sometimes, it would calm down without warning and become as smooth as a mirror. However, the sky it reflected was twisted and broken.
The weather especially was unpredictable to the extreme. It would be a gross understatement to call the weather fickle.
Right now, Ye Qing’s group was standing at the edge of the Primal Chaos Ocean with varying expressions on their faces. They had only arrived moments ago, and yet the weather had already undergone a dozen or so dramatic transformations like a woman’s mood.
One breath ago, it was thundering and pouring like a waterfall. Purple lightning snaked across the sky like dragons, ripping apart the clouded sky and rumbling the air.
The next breath, the storm abruptly ceased, and a terrible chill permeated the area. Goose feather snowflakes began falling soundlessly as a thin layer of ice froze over the sea at a visible rate, encasing everything in ice.
Then, in just the blink of an eye, the ice and snow melted into water, and the sun hung in the sky like a giant fireball. Its fiery rays boiled the sea surface to the point where steam was rising profusely into the air, and the air became boiling hot and distorted.
......
It was clear that the Five Phases of this place had completely lost their order, and the yin and yang were out of place as well. Even time and space seemed to be distorted or displaced as the scenery before their eyes often underwent an anomalous stretching or overlapping. It was dizzying to look at.
There were no signs of life anywhere. There was only pure, primal, rampaging energies of primal chaos.
Ye Qing clasped his hands behind his back and observed the everchanging scenery before him with a calm expression and deep eyes. His aura was as steady as a mountain.
He could feel the Earthly Sovereign Bell vaguely pointing him toward the deeper parts of this sea of chaos.
After slaying the Endless Lord of Plagues, the group had crossed the vast continent of the Central Plain and arrived at this place practically without stop. It was all to slay the World Ender Jiuying.
The Blue Hole of Primal Chaos where the World Ender Jiuying was suppressed and imprisoned was located in the Primal Chaos Ocean.
