STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 755: Green necklace (Rumoured Relic)
City B - Wilderness
Jeremy Night decided to leave. He decided to head to his next destination before dawn.
He picked up his device and opened the map. When the map appeared, he began to memorize the route. It took him a few minutes.
After memorizing the path, he put away the device. Then, he glanced at the crowd.
People seemed to be coming in, but not many were going out. Jeremy turned around and left the place.
Following the map's route, he reached a sand track. Seeing it, he confirmed his location; he was going in the right direction.
Time passed.
Not long after, he realized he was the only one using this route. He didn't see any other Beast Tamers on the path.
Jeremy frowned. The old city was mentioned in one of the lists, and he didn't know why no one else wanted to go there. He pushed those thoughts aside and continued walking.
A few hours later, he reached his destination. There was only one hour left before evening. He sighed in relief; if he had delayed any longer, it would have become dangerous.
He collected his thoughts, raised his head, and looked ahead. The city border came into view.
Seeing it, he activated his X-ray vision. His vision became transparent as he scanned the building structures in front of him.
He didn't find anything useful initially. The place was filled with debris and broken structures.
According to the article he read, the rumored relic could be in the center of the city. His gaze shifted until he found the route to the main part of the city. He made his decision and started walking along the path.
To be safe, he took his handgun and held it in his right hand. He began covering the bullets with starlight power. A starlight thread enveloped the ammunition. He continued using his X-ray vision.
Rustle!
Something moved behind the ruined buildings. He caught something in his sight. He was sure it was a corrupted beast.
He continued to use his eye power and discovered that a corrupted beast was coming toward him. He knew the city had been taken over by corrupted beasts, but he didn't expect to encounter one so soon.
He paused his footsteps and looked ahead.
A green spider, over four meters in size, appeared in the street. The spider had eight sharp legs. Jeremy felt a dangerous pressure from the creature. Judging by its size, he confirmed the beast was Tier-5.
Bang! Bang!
He was used to this scenario, so he fired continuous shots at the beast. One after another, the starlight bullets traveled in a straight line. They were all aimed at the compound eyes of the beast.
Puchak!
The green spider felt the threat and tried to move away, but the starlight bullets were faster. The next second, the bullets penetrated the eyes of the beast. They were punctured instantly.
Puchak!
Blood splattered on the ground.
Shriek!
The green spider let out a weird scream and fled the area. Jeremy Night sighed in relief. If it had been a Tier-6 beast, it would have evaded the attack.
He continued walking along the path, crossing one ruined building after another. No other corrupted beast activity was nearby.
Soon, he reached the middle of the city where several crossroads met. Apart from him, there were no other Beast Tamers in the vicinity.
Next, he had to look for the rumored relic. His gaze fell on a government building; he thought there might be important items inside.
Swoosh!
He started walking faster until he reached the ruins of the government building. He walked into a ruined office room.
The room was filled with debris and dust, with spider webs everywhere. He ignored them and began to look for the relic.
He used his X-ray vision to scan the room. He saw broken wooden furniture, but then his gaze fell on an intact desk.
He was surprised; it was rare to see an object that wasn't destroyed. He went to the wooden desk and looked at the drawer.
His first impulse was to pull it open, but he controlled himself. He used his X-ray vision to scan the drawer first. He saw an object in one of them; the other drawers were empty. He then opened it.
There was a necklace inside. The necklace had a green gem, though the chain was rusted and the coating had worn off. However, the green gem appeared brand new.
At first, he thought of checking for a reaction from the unknown beast egg. He held the green necklace in his hand and waited for five minutes, but there was no reaction from the egg.
Phew!
He heaved a sigh of relief. That was it. He was going to hand over the necklace to Head Harold.
He had checked other places and found nothing, but he had found this here. He believed it was the rumored relic and didn't want to waste any more time.
He put the green necklace into his storage ring and looked outside. Nightfall was getting closer. He decided to leave; once night came, more beasts would emerge, and he would have nowhere to hide.
Swoosh!
He rushed outside, only to find the path ahead blocked by spider beasts. They had appeared on the street without alerting him.
Jeremy Night felt goosebumps. He unsheathed his blade and covered it in starlight power.
"Explosive Steps!"
He used his movement technique, his body blurring in a zigzag pattern. His blade cleaved through the beasts blocking his way.
He cleared the path forward by attacking the spiders. After sustaining injuries, the beasts fled.
He quickly left the city border and returned to the sand track. He didn't stop, continuing to run so the beasts wouldn't follow him.
Time passed.
As night fell, he used his eye power to find his way back toward the city. He planned to find a secluded area to rest, but seeing none, he made up his mind to only rest once he reached the safety of the city.
