STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 777: New development!
The Room
The following day, Jeremy started his day as usual. Last night's breakthrough had given him new motivation.
Following his daily schedule, he completed his morning routine in one hour. Then, he entered the practice room.
Outside
Head Harold read the reports stating that the remains had been handed over to the families. All the remains had been identified.
Only then did he put his heart at ease. This progress was possible because of Jeremy Night.
Harold had given him one of the rare treasures from the inventory, a treasure known for strengthening the mind and aiding in a breakthrough.
He thought Jeremy Night's accumulation was now enough.
He suspected the boy might have achieved a breakthrough already. He planned to confirm the news once the kid came outside.
Buzz!
Suddenly, his device rang. Harold collected his thoughts and picked it up.
He saw that the person calling was none other than City Governor Martin. He answered the call immediately.
"Governor Martin, what's up?" Harold asked.
"There are signs of a beast tide from the unexplored area. It could possibly become a Beast Invasion," Martin revealed the latest news.
"What?" Harold stood up. "How long has it been? Why is the rate of these attacks increasing lately?"
"We don't know," Martin replied. "Unknown changes might have occurred in the depths of the unexplored area. Now the beasts are rushing towards the wilderness. If they don't stop, they might reach our city."
Harold understood the gravity of the situation. He realized the Governor needed backup.
"Okay, what do you want me to do?" Harold asked.
"Send your members to the front line. The other forces are sending their teams as well," Martin said before ending the call.
Harold put his device on the table and pressed the emergency button.
Alarm!
A red alarm sounded across the building. Hearing it, everyone began heading to the lobby. It was the protocol.
The members knew something serious had happened; otherwise, the alarm wouldn't have sounded.
Meanwhile, Jeremy was practicing inside his room. The power was cut automatically because of the alarm.
Jeremy opened his eyes, noticed the change, and turned off his equipment manually before walking out.
When he heard the alarm, his expression changed drastically. He quickly changed his clothes and left the room.
He saw other members rushing out of their rooms as well, everyone moving from the corridors toward the lobby.
A few minutes later, Jeremy was standing in the lobby along with the others. More than a hundred people had gathered. The atmosphere was tense.
Jeremy didn't know what was going on. The last beast tide had ended recently, and the wilderness had returned to a state of calm.
He thought of the criminal gangs, but the Governor had wiped out their activities. He doubted it was retaliation from them; they wouldn't dare dream of it.
Even professional criminal organizations like Darkshade were afraid to cross that red line. He figured it must be related to another issue.
"Jeremy!" someone called out.
He turned around and saw Senior Melinda and her team. Technically, he was part of the same team, but he usually avoided team missions.
"Hey there," he greeted her.
He saw Freya, Theo, and the others as well. They were looking at him, and he sized them up in return.
Melinda noticed the changes in Jeremy Night. He seemed to have grown stronger, and she raised her eyebrows in surprise.
She wanted to ask about it, but she glanced at the nearby members, knowing they might turn the conversation into something ugly.
"Sister, do you know what this is about?" Jeremy asked.
Melinda collected her thoughts and said, "No, I checked the news before coming here. Everything seemed normal."
"It could be an upcoming problem," Jeremy added. Melinda nodded.
Freya and Theo observed Jeremy Night as well. They sensed the newcomer was different, though they couldn't pin down exactly what had changed.
The other members glanced at Jeremy before looking away, uninterested in getting to know him.
It didn't take long for most of the members to arrive. Those currently outside would receive the message on their devices.
"Quiet!"
Head Harold's voice rang out a second later. Silence filled the room, a pin-drop silence. No one dared to make a sound. They saw Head Harold walking out onto the second-floor balcony.
Harold swept his gaze across the crowd. He saw everyone, including Jeremy Night. The change in Jeremy's aura didn't escape his eyes, and his own eyes flashed with a glint of approval.
"Everyone, I got a call from City Governor Martin. It is an emergency," Harold said.
Gasp!
The members were stunned. They knew the situation was serious, but they hadn't expected the Governor to call personally.
That only happened when the Governor needed to mobilize the full power of the City Beast Tamers.
"I think you guys have already guessed it. We have a Beast Invasion type situation," Harold said, before relaying what Governor Martin had told him.
A few minutes later, everyone's face was filled with shock. If it were an ordinary beast tide, they wouldn't have worried as much.
But if the beasts were coming from the unexplored area, they were extremely dangerous. There could be beasts of all types. If they weren't careful, they would die.
Jeremy Night's expression was solemn. He had faced beasts from the unexplored area before and knew the terror they carried.
A swarm of insect-type beasts had forced him to flee once; if not for his special ability, he would have died then.
Now, even more types of beasts could appear. The happiness brought by his breakthrough vanished instantly.
Jeremy glanced at the others and noticed everyone looked scared and worried. Melinda remained silent, which was enough to signal the gravity of the situation.
Seeing that morale was dropping, Head Harold said, "You guys don't have to overthink it. Governor Martin said it is a possibility."
"I believe they will resolve the situation before it reaches that point. We just have to prepare for the worst case. So, all of you, get ready and head to the frontline outside the city gate," he added.
