Strongest Boyfriend In The Apocalypse: Every Girl Depends On Me!-Chapter 46: Smart Little Son Of A B*tch
"I’m sorry to inform you, Mrs. Williams, but I have bad news."
"Bringing the girls to the Base today will no longer work out. Something came up with that special little boy called Ethan complaining about their safety, and somehow, the Commander promised to get them to the executive compound just to prevent him from leaving."
"Since he’s a Raid Leader, and the Special Force would need his help to explore Atlanta, the Commander wants to keep him by all means."
Making the voice message was Mister Fred in his office with an ugly look on his face.
You would never see Mister Fred having this kind of look on a normal day, but today... today had just appeared to be a different day.
Mister Fred knew he could have been better off if the Commander was part of their conspiracy, but he unfortunately wasn’t, and the last time a couple of girls went missing, it was only taken to belief that they got ambushed by a herd of zombies on their way to the Female Raid Training Base, and they couldn’t make it.
Mister Fred would have loved another successful operation, but at this point, he was beginning to feel like that was far from happening.
"That smart little son of a bitch!" he cursed hard, recollecting how Ethan unknowingly spoiled all his plans.
But Mister Fred still suspected that something could have made Ethan raise an alarm, right?
It was understandable that one could make suspicious thoughts, but not to the point of trying to get them out like he kept exactly every freaking plan, right?
And at one point, he began to wonder if perhaps Ethan had gotten to know what he was doing, and the consideration of that suddenly sent a shockwave through his heart.
If that became the case, then there was definitely going to be some big trouble around.
Just when he was ending the call, he suddenly heard a knock on his door, only to open the door to the "smart little son of a bitch."
Ethan stood right at the door, and the look he landed straight away made Mister Fred flinch a bit before he tried his very possible best to stay composed.
"Ethan Reyes! What have you come here to do? Want to see me?" he asked with a smile appearing on his face, one he forced so hard to make.
"Actually, yes. Mister Fred, I came to see you," Ethan said, giving a gesture that asked for him to come in.
At once, Mister Fred allowed him in as he shut the door.
They both stood and conversed, since none of them were willing to have a seat anyway.
Ethan gave Mister Fred a vibrant look as he began talking.
"So, what have you come here to discuss? If it’s about the raids and explorations, I can swear that I have nothing to advise you about that. I have never been a patrol officer of the Special Force in my life," Mister Fred said with a joking look on his face.
And to mess up with his cunning vibe, Ethan smiled back and objected.
"No, Mister Fred. It’s not about the raids."
"It’s about the insecurity," Ethan added.
"Insecurity? Here?! How is that mixing up? This is one of the safest places in the United States of America at the moment. How can it be insecure?" Mister Fred asked with his brows raised, maintaining a very confident tone.
"I didn’t really mean about the apocalypse. Maybe... but I do think it’s more about us than the monsters. I do think that not all people around here are willing to play by the rules, especially when you talk about the new entries. One of them had tried to kill me, which we all saw a few days ago."
"More crazy attempts could still be made on other people, and my friends are not excluded."
Mister Fred nodded, giving a gesture that he was understanding what Ethan was all about.
And it didn’t seem like Ethan was done yet.
"I don’t joke with my friends. They are as much a family to me as my real family in Atlanta. And I won’t go easy if anything bad happens to them. No matter the cause, every single person who gets involved in harming them will pay folds after folds."
At that point, Mister Fred was no longer grasping the direction of his statements, or should he just call them threats?
At this point, the understanding of Ethan possibly knowing his movements suddenly rose, and Mister Fred got more tense.
Ethan soon noticed the look on his face, and he immediately stopped because it seemed like he was already going too far.
"I’m... I’m sorry, Mister Fred. I shouldn’t be telling you these. I should be demanding your help to protect my friends. You are the Manager of the Refuge, which means everything could still be in your control, much like the Commander’s."
It was when he said this that Mister Fred’s face settled, and one thing he didn’t know was that Ethan was watching and noting every expression that he made after every statement.
Certainly, Ethan had no idea who would have caused the deaths of his friends.
It could be the monsters, as expected.
It could be some people within the Refuge.
Or it could just be something else that could cause a disaster.
Ethan hadn’t figured it out for sure.
But he was hoping he would discover it soon enough.
"Umm, I understand your feelings, Ethan. I honestly do. And I’m going to assure you that your friends are going to be fine. Not just your friends, but every single person inside the walls. We will make sure that every threat is eliminated, just like we have been doing since this place was founded.
Now all we need from you is a good job at Atlanta, and a safe return with your team. You should be more worried about that than this, because the securities are surely going to do their best," Mister Fred said.
Ethan gave a satisfied nod at that statement.
"Thank you, Mister Fred. It’s really going to be great to get back here in no time," he said.
"Definitely, Ethan. I wish you and your team the best of luck. Also, I’ll just have to wish Atlanta the best of luck as well," Mister Fred said with a smile.
And with that, Ethan nodded and walked out of the building.
While he walked away, Mister Fred was at the doorstep watching, his face reflecting a bold point of what he had in mind.
"This kid... he’s really going to be a huge problem for us."

A young man who appeared to be in his very early twenties was running alone in the lonesome woods, his face well focused on the target he was chasing.
With a knife in one hand and a stone in the other, this young man was chasing a squirrel, searching for food to survive.
He got to a point where a clear opportunity appeared, and he thrust the stone toward the squirrel.
THUD.
"Whoa! Damn it!"
He turned dark after he realized he had missed for the twelfth time, and he was already getting exhausted.
With a scowl, he quickly grabbed another stone and continued chasing the squirrel, which at one final point got to a tree and finally climbed high, leaving him completely hopeless.
Yet another fail on the seventh squirrel he had seen. The last time he went to try digging a squirrel hole, he almost got bitten by a snake. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
This young man was already giving up, fearing that he might just get too hungry and tired to save himself from a zombie if one eventually attacked.
With his teeth clenched, he settled under one of the trees in the woods and rested.
This was what he had always done after failing every attempt on one squirrel, and at this point he was already deciding on giving up chasing one.
"Maybe mushrooms would do..."
However, he soon discovered that there were no edible mushrooms in this part of the woods, and where to find one? He eventually didn’t have an idea about that as well.
"Is this how I’m going to starve in the woods? Is this how I can survive?"
"No way... I’m literally going to die."
"I don’t want to die."
"I can’t die."
He made that promise to himself and got up, but while he was trying to make an attempt, he suddenly heard a strange voice behind him.
"You will die..."
"In there, all you are going to get is more battles for your life with monsters, starvation, and then you will eventually succumb to the unforgiving endpoint of suffering... death."
Fear gripped his heart at that point, and he suddenly tried turning, though shivering, only to see a young woman standing not quite far from him.
His face tightened the moment he grasped a look at her stance, physique, and aura.
She wasn’t the typical lady one sees every day.
And while he was busy observing her appearance, she finally let out her last greeting.
"But if you don’t want to die, you can come with me."
