Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 65: Watching
Azrael turned around to see Cleopatra staring right at him with intensity. Her lips were still curled upwards in that confident way, and she was waiting for an answer to what she believed was a legitimate question.
Azrael tried to lean away from her, but there wasn't that much space behind him, making it impossible.
"I couldn't turn it down. Scar didn't give me a choice."
Cleopatra blinked in confusion when Azrael mentioned Scar, before she seemed to gain a look of understanding. Cleopatra hadn't met Scar because she was already in her second year when Scar started to teach the first years.
Before Scar, they had an old man who had an unbelievable fixation on artifacts. It was almost impossible for the man not to talk about one artifact or another during class.
Cleopatra's smile only widened as she leaned closer. In the front of the car, Maddison stared at Cleopatra and Azrael's closeness with a look of confusion on her face.
Cleopatra spoke in a voice that only Azrael could hear.
"I've been keeping my eyes on you, 'reject'. And you're yet to disappoint me. You should be proud."
Cleopatra's breath tickled Azrael's ear, and Azrael leaned away from Cleopatra in surprise.
Cleopatra's smile became almost sadistic before she went back to sitting properly, and Azrael wondered what in the world she was talking about. Cleopatra didn't say anything more after that, and it was obvious that the conversation was over.
The car drove them over to the administrative building, and Azrael saw some other cars of the same make parking at the side of the building. Teachers and students came down from those cars, and Azrael could only guess that this was a private service that the school only gave to the teachers and members of the student council. Azrael had never seen any of these cars in his life.
Even the road that they took to get here was different from the one the shuttle usually takes to school, and Azrael felt a small pang of envy rising from inside him when he saw how well these people were being treated. But he immediately got rid of that as Cleopatra told him to get out of the car.
Azrael came down, and he was surprised to see Scar coming down from another car with a woman. The woman was the same one who had entered Scar's office after Azrael and Jane were leaving the captain's meeting. That had to be Terra, the teacher in charge of Class B.

The woman was constantly talking, and Scar didn't seem like he was even listening to her. Scar's eyes met Azrael's and narrowed for a moment before Scar ignored him and began to enter the administrative building with Terra following after him quickly.
Cleopatra told Azrael and Maddison to follow her as she began to head into the building, and they passed some of the teachers and other staff members while heading to the elevator. They waited for a while for the elevator to fill up before they took it to the very top of the building. There, Cleopatra spoke to both of them with a look of seriousness on her face while holding both hands under her chest.
"Now listen here, both of you. The person you're about to meet is the most important man in this entire school, and I don't care how uncultured you both might be outside of this building, but while you are in front of this man, you will be at your best behavior. You will not sit unless you are asked to, you will stand once you are asked to. You will answer every question with the utmost enthusiasm. If I am led to believe, even for a moment, that you are showing him any form of disrespect, I will make it my personal mission to ruin your lives, both in this school and outside of it. Is that understood?"
Maddison nodded quickly and Azrael gave a single nod.
Azrael was now certain that they were going to see the headmaster of the school. Azrael didn't know the man in any way; the only time Azrael had seen him was when they were at the Divine Potential Accessment a week ago, and that had not been the best introduction with how much the man talked that day.
But even with the introduction, Azrael could tell very easily that the headmaster held a level of importance in the school that was higher than anyone else.
Not only was he the headmaster, but he was also the most respected among all the staff. There was a docile way that the other staff members and students acted around the headmaster, almost like he was their father and they were always trying to impress him.
Azrael knew that Cleopatra would not hesitate to do exactly what she said if they disrespected the headmaster.
Cleopatra looked from Azrael over to Maddison once to make sure that they both understood how serious she was at that moment and when she didn't see any form of rebellion in their gaze, she turned and headed for the door at the end of the hallway.
Maddison wrung her hands together in front of her nervously and released a tense breath as they neared the door. Maddison was also curious about what they were doing here and, in a way, she feared they were going to be interrogated again like when they were with Vice-Headmistress Francesca.
Maddison hadn't created any plans to help Azrael this time, so if they were going to be investigated, then it was more likely that they would be found out. Maddison had no idea what to do.
"Relax."
Azrael's voice came from beside her and Maddison turned to see him staring straight ahead. Azrael turned to look at her and gave her a rare smile.
"Just relax."
Azrael said this in a confident way, like he knew exactly what she was thinking and he had a solution to everything. Maddison felt her own confidence get a boost at the sight of that smile and a pleasant heat rose on her cheek before she nodded while releasing a tense breath.
Cleopatra stopped in front of the headmaster's door, knocked once, and waited for a voice to respond.
"Come, come. No need for formalities, Cleo."
Cleopatra opened the door, and Azrael set his eyes on one of the largest offices he had ever seen in his life. The entire office was probably larger than their classroom, with rows upon rows of books stacked on a bookshelf to one side. There was a conference table on the right with about twenty chairs and a projection screen, and in the center of the room was a large desk where the white-haired headmaster was seated. The man had been writing something down on his table, but once he saw the students enter, he dropped his pen and smiled at them kindly.
Azrael felt Maddison release a breath she had been holding in, and Azrael couldn't blame her. He also felt relief when he didn't see any authorities in the office.
Headmaster Sozin looked as grandfatherly as ever. His white hair and beard were well-trimmed and he was wearing a white shirt and trousers. He had a kind look on his face, but underneath that, Azrael could feel a pressure that made him cautious in front of the man. Like this was someone who you did not want to see angry.
