Strongest Dimensional Necromancer-Chapter 54: Ice Forest
’...I’ll be cut in two with that... how’s he that fast and how’s Gavrex able to dodge that... these two are just so impressive!...’ Riven strained forward as if by doing so he would be able to catch every last bit of the action.
Kivara glanced at him and her lips actually twitched but she soon concentrated on the fight.
Gavrex leaped away, his speed more like a ramming bull. He whispered some words and the ground shuddered as if a mighty beast wanted to raise its head. "Forest of Ice!"
Suddenly, the whole platform changed as spikes grew from the ground like trees, each spike also grew a spike of its own like thorns.
Gavrex grinned and then he bent over and stretched out his hand, forming a battle hammer of ice. When he lifted the hammer he brought it closer to his face and blew some white mist from his mouth on it, making the hammer harder and stronger. "How do you like that, Tong! I’ve advanced in my Shape technique, pushing it to the highest. For that, thank you!"
"But how will your speed be useful here? I made this specifically for you!" Gavrex boasted. He seemed happy that he was able to create something to counter his opponent.
Kivara nodded. "Not bad. Not a bad way to use a Shape technique."
Riven couldn’t help but nod as well as he began to think about how he could use his own Shape technique. ’...how can I improve on it... create another sword... or improve on the ability of healing that it has...’
Riven was thinking all this absently while he watched the fight, waiting for Tong’s response.
Tong looked at the forest of frost and nodded coldly. He raised his sword, the silver light dimmed from it and then he slashed out with only his pure strength, cutting down two of the spiked trees.
"This is not strong enough to stop me," he said.
Gavrex seemed to be expecting this because he didn’t argue. Instead, he took in a deep breath, sucking in a massive amount of frosty air and then with a roar he breathed out like a small dragon.
The frosty air bellowed out of his mouth like smoke, but the smoke carried hints of blue energy that spread all around the ice forest. Immediately there was a change to all the spikes. They cracked as they hardened, gaining a blue sheen like crystals.
Riven knew they had gotten stronger. "That’s Enhance technique, right?"
Kivara nodded. "Gavrex is going all out. Tong’s advantages in speed have been dealt with. How will he react to this?"
Tong didn’t seem too bothered. He slashed the nearest tree but with his sword covered in his lightning aura form.
Ping!
Sparks flew from the contact as if it was metal on metal, and not ice. If he should strike it more than once then the ice spikes might shatter but there lies the problem. Will he strike all the spikes one and two before he got to Gavrex?
The students that were whispering earlier began to whisper again.
"Wow, Gavrex is really giving it his all."
"No wonder he didn’t challenge Tong at all last month and went into isolated training. He was preparing something like this!"
"He must have reached the low advancement in rank three because how can his Enhance technique cover that much space and he’s holding two powerful techniques together at the same time!" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"With this he might actually topple Tong!"
They whispered and debated among each other as they waited for Tong to make his next move.
But unexpected to all, it was Gavrex that made a move.
The short bulky boy shouted, he roared as he raised his hammer and then he slammed it down.
Crack!
The ground shattered and the trees nearby shuddered.
Like a storm, a ripple spread among the spikes, getting more furious and ferocious as it got closer to Tong’s side. All around Tong the trees seemed to come alive, the spikes immediately shot out, all at Tong!
Riven sucked in a sharp breath together with everyone else. He just watched the enchanted spikes shoot at Tong at blinding speed. Wasn’t he just witnessing a murder?
Boom!
The whole platform shuddered at the explosion that followed, the shockwave of cold that followed was strong enough to make the robes of nearby students flap and Riven felt the cold from his place.
"Where are the healers? Maybe they can still save him," Riven said as he imagined countless spikes jutting out of Tong’s body.
Kivara scoffed. "Watch Gavrex."
Riven didn’t understand but he did. At first there was nothing special about the way Gavrex was standing. It was a standard standing way for warriors.
But then his eyes caught the smaller details. Like the way Gavrex was tensed, his veins bulging with the way he gripped his weapon.
And the way his eyes were intently focused on the ice dust where the explosion happened.
Riven’s heart sped up. ’...what was he looking for... what happened... what’s going on...’
He turned towards Kivara but she didn’t answer his unspoken question. He turned back to watch just in time to see something flash in the dust storm.
It was Tong and he was unharmed, shot right up through the ice dust. Then he did something as if he was stepping on air to further lurch himself up and away directly above Gavrex.
Riven swallowed.
Tong ignored gravity as he hovered above, his legs blurring as if he was running in the air but he was only staying in one place.
He raised his sword above his head.
And all the students flinched in reflex as if they were remembering a memory! Riven soon learned why.
Tong’s sword brightened. It gained a silver luster like the brightness of thunder. And then it lengthened to four hundred centimeters.
Even from afar Riven leaned back. The pressure that was coming from Tong had increased and was deadly! It was as if Riven was standing below the sword lightning. Or the sharpness of a blade was right there pressed on his neck.
’...this... isn’t this too dangerous to be called sparring? This is killing!...’ Riven shouted in his mind. But even then he felt his blood ignited. ’...I want to be fighting like that too!...’
Then he looked towards Gavrex, expecting the boy to be surrendering. But it seemed like he had other plans.
