Strongest Dimensional Necromancer-Chapter 70: Envy?
Just as the head instructor finished speaking, a blue light began to shine on the grounds of the combat hall. The blue light seeped into Riven like cold water.
Seeing that others didn’t behave weirdly to it, Riven waited to see what was going to happen. The light spread rapidly and covered the whole place, shining brighter and brighter until he was forced to close his eyes.
But then the light got more intense, and Riven felt as if his body was being pulled in different directions. Finally, the feeling vanished and he opened his eyes.
Riven found himself back in a forest. He blinked. "Teleported just like that?"
He turned to look around him. The forest was dark but lacked the sinister darkness of the Shadowwood. The insects and birds were very active as well, and he heard the sound of animals shouting.
"So the assessment is starting?" Immediately he mentioned ’assessment,’ a blue projection appeared in front of him. It contained the ranking list, and already the leading one was Jasper at twenty points, but it was still in rank eleven.
"So Jasper did not have a strip but he’s already killing monsters. This will probably be very easy for him. He’s strong," Riven muttered. Currently, Riven wasn’t even in the ranking since he had no point.
As he thought of the ’strip,’ he automatically knew the direction of the ten strips, but he ignored it. The strip would be something that comes next, after.
"Alright then. What should I do?" Riven rubbed his hands. "Time to kill some monsters."
He made his sword, and then he began to run lightly in the forest. Riven might have raw power, but he lacked technique, like the one to make his movement silent in the forest. He would have been as silent as a ghost to a normal human.
But to other practitioners, Riven was like a charging bull in the forest.
Fortunately, due to the monthly assessment, the forest wasn’t dense. The undergrowth was relatively free of smaller trees. Suddenly he paused running and fell into a forward roll.
Whoomps!
Something passed through the place he was before.
All Riven saw was something heavy with fur. He came up with an upward slash and his sword met the next attack, sending sparks flying.
"What!" Riven shouted.
From the trees, something came out. It was an ape-like monster with extremely long arms. It was heavily furred and its yellow eyes watched Riven with disdain.
The monster opened its mouth to roar, but Riven was already on the move, and he swung his sword. He wasn’t relying on brute strength here as the monster also exploded forward. Instead, he used the tree behind him as a step to throw himself higher in midair, and with his speed, he passed the monster, his sword flashing.
The monster stiffened in midair, and then dropped... dead. Its head cut down.
Riven didn’t even look at the body as he brought up the ranking projection again. He was now ranked at one hundred and fifty. Out of a total of one hundred and ninety-five.
And his point is eleven.
Jasper was still leading, close to two hundred points.
Riven scowled. "The point is actually harder than it looks. I only get eleven for killing that monster. Jasper must be on a roll, or do they know where the stronger monsters are already?"
He smiled. "Time to use my cheat as well. Heed me!"
Riven summoned both the Grave Knight and Spartacus, and then he raised the monster as one of his four temporary undead. Then the four of them ran into the forest.
It was a total slaughter. Riven forgot all about everything else and threw all his energy into killing. The monsters that he was killing were rank two, but Riven was just stronger.
He raised all four of his temporary undead, replacing them with stronger monsters each time he killed one. This was his full might, and it was terrifying.
In under two hours, he raised his ranking from one hundred and fifty to the top twenty.
Spartacus was like an armored giant. He simply cut down everything that stood in Riven’s way, both monsters, and if any students should show their face, then they would get a taste of the angry sword as well.
The Grave Knight was no less brutal. It was still the one with black armor and a crystal sword. Monsters fell around them and Riven used the death to cultivate. He even created a pile of monsters to gather more aura in one place for him to feast on.
Those outside the assessment could watch the students and the ranking. It was a big projection in the combat hall that everyone could watch. The projection was split into different parts to show different sections and students.
Normally, since it’s something that happens every month, people don’t usually watch it.
But not that day. Even the rank three were to watch it. And it was because of one person. Riven. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Master Zandrel, you are lucky to have such a student," an instructor said. The instructors were watching the assessment as well, not only because of enjoyment but because if something were to go wrong.
Zandrel smiled humbly. "It’s nothing. It’s only because of Kivara that I’m only able to find him."
A lot of instructors sent a look of envy at Zandrel and Kivara.
Kivara had dominated the whole mountain from the moment she stepped foot on it. All the students who stood up to her were crushed, and even those above her ranks then were very wary of her.
The gap between her and the other students of her rank was large.
Tong was nearby and his hand clenched into a fist when he saw the ranking and his blood boiled. How can Riven be so powerful?
But he calmed himself when he remembered that he had a plan in place. Instead, he looked at Kivara and thought in his mind. "...I should find a way to take first rank from her hand during our assessment tomorrow..."
But he knew that was only wishful thinking. Instead, he consoled himself with the fact that he would finally be dealing with Riven. "...I wonder what expression she would be making then..."
