Chapter 614: Saying Goodbye

Jason read through the changes in his system tabs, and he made sure that he had upgraded as many subordinates as possible before he closed down the tab. Jason could have used even more points to try to upgrade more subordinates, but Jason wanted to save as many upgrade points as possible for when his higher-ranking subordinates finally reached the required hierarchy progression for an upgrade. The Rank II and III Rooks, as well as the Bishops, had very slow hierarchy progressions, and it would take a few more battles before Jason could finally upgrade them. In truth, the only member of Jason’s Legion that was growing at an astonishing rate was Gina.

[The subordinate Gina, is experiencing rapid growth mainly due to the passage of mana between her and the user. Constant intercourse allows the user to provide her with an extraordinary amount of mana.]

’Oh, right. I remember reading about that before.’

Jason had once asked the system about Gina’s growth, and it told him that it had to do with the fact that he was always having sex with her. Jason chuckled at the thought of Gina growing stronger by having sex like this was some sort of Dual Cultivation story, but he didn’t mind since it didn’t have any side effects. At her current pace, Jason had a feeling that Gina might soon surpass both Ragnar and Trigon to become the strongest member of the Legion. But even though she was going to become extremely strong, that doesn’t mean Jason could stop worrying about her, especially now that she was pregnant. Jason didn’t know how to feel about his pregnant girlfriend going out to fight against interdimensional monsters capable of planetary-scale destruction. Jason released a sigh to calm himself, and he decided that he would put a lot more protection around Gina from now on. Jason had ten Bishops, so he was going to make four of them Gina’s permanent bodyguards. Even if Jason was on the brink of death, those Bishops would make it their priority to protect Gina and make sure no harm came to her.

’Braga, Yelena, Sovereign and Trigon. You four are now on Queen Duty. From now until I give you different orders, you are to dedicate every single moment to making sure that nothing harms Gina. It doesn’t matter if I am about to be killed, just make sure you don’t leave her side.’

’Yes, my king.’

The subordinates all responded simultaneously, and Jason felt them moving out from the Alternate Dimension and into the shadows before they surrounded Gina in a diamond shape. There were already various subordinates that Jason left with Gina for her protection, but with how dangerous the enemies they were facing now were, Jason needed absolute certainty that nothing could harm Gina, and at least with those four, Jason was sure that you would need nothing short of a TITAN Rank II to get past all of them. Jason let out another calm sigh as he finally turned away and looked outside to see that the sun had finally risen and there were people moving around on the water as they got ready to begin their day. Jason and Gina would have to leave this world today before the Machina tracked them down here, but Jason made a promise to himself that he would return when things settled down and spend more time with his extended family. Maybe next time, he would come around with his mother and sisters.

....

"Thank you for everything, mother. I won’t forget your hospitality."

Jason and Gina were currently standing in the throne room of the castle. They had both gotten ready to continue their journey, and they were saying their goodbyes to Jason’s stepmother. Opposite them, Queen Bethsha had a small frown on her face as she let out a tired sigh. In truth, Queen Bethsha didn’t want Jason or Gina to leave so quickly, and she had asked Jason if he wouldn’t consider staying for a few more days so they could learn more about each other, but Jason had been adamant about leaving since he knew that the Machina were tracking him down, and nothing Bethsha said would change his mind. Bethsha had even offered Jason some of her guards as protection for when he was leaving, but Jason had refused that as well, since it would only cause issues if the guards were caught by the Machina. Seeing Vanta guards protecting a Black Enigma was going to paint Vanta in a bad light, and Jason didn’t want that.

’This boy is so much like his father. So stubborn. But I can tell he cares about this family a great deal. I suppose I can’t be angry at him when all he’s doing is looking out for us.’

Queen Bethsha let out a tired sigh at this thought, and she frowned slightly before she came up to Jason and reached out to take his face in her hands. She looked him in the eye and made sure he was paying attention to her before she spoke with absolute seriousness.

"I want you to promise me that you will be safe out there. I understand that you are trying to save your world, but that is no reason for you to neglect your own life. Make sure you survive and go back to your mother. Do you understand?"

Jason grinned and nodded in understanding, and Betsha ran her hand across Jason’s jawline and sighed as memories of Richard came back to her again. Queen Betsha had already been doing her best to not miss Richard too much in the past few years, but seeing Jason like this just made all her emotions go into overdrive. Seeing Jason was like having Richard right in front of her, but she knew that this was not her husband. This was her son. Jason’s eyes narrowed when he saw tears gathering in Queen Betsha’s eyes, but Queen Bethsha just shook her head, and she quickly cleaned her tears when Jasno asked her what was wrong. Betsha fought back the tears before she finally spoke up again.

"You’ll come visit again, won’t you?"

"Of course I will. Once all this is settled, I’ll bring everyone to visit. You’ll have a full house, I promise."

Jason gave a cheeky smile to his stepmother, and Queen Betsha laughed in amusement before she pulled Jason in for a deep hug. Jason pat her back gently, and he heard her speak to him quietly.

"You are destined for so much, my son. I could see it from the moment I laid eyes on you. So don’t you dare allow anyone stop you. Keep going down your own path and find your own destiny. I know you’ll do great things."

Jason nodded into his mother’s shoulder before he pulled back and placed a kiss on her head. Normally, Queen Bethsha would have been angry if anyone tried to do something like that to her. She was the Queen of an entire world, and kissing her without permission was heavily frowned upon, but Betsha didn’t seem to care at all since it was Jason who was doing it, and she even felt a small loss when Jason pulled away from her. Even though he was not her own son, Bethsha really felt like Jason was a part of her family.

"Jason! Jason, wait!"

A loud voice suddenly came from behind, and they all turned around to see Kai running into the room with Fritz following behind him and begging him to slow down! Kai was holding a box in one hand, and he had a large smile on his face as he finally crashed into Jason’s open arms! Jason let out a small fake grunt when he caught the little boy, and Jason chuckled as Kai wrapped his arms around him and spoke.

"I’m going to miss you so much!"

Jason tightened his hold on Kai and pressed a kiss to Kai’s cheek.

"I’ll miss you too, little brother."
