Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time-Chapter 275: Reward Notice
Chapter 275: Reward Notice
Another week slipped by.
It had now been twenty days since Han Yu had submitted his mission report to Elder Hei. He’d spent the days cultivating, restoring his Soul Qi with the stray Eight Emotions Energy wisps that came to him, testing techniques, and refining his plans, but one thought continued to poke at the back of his mind like a persistent fly:
’Where is my reward?’
He had submitted a report of high importance—possibly even sect-shaking. The feedback from the Eight Emotions Energy had made that clear enough. In the first few days after submission, pulses of emotion-infused energy had erupted from the Twin Leaf Peaks every hour or so.
It didn’t take a genius—or even a particularly clever Han Yu—to figure out the cause.
Han Yu smirked at the memory.
He’d picked up surprise, anticipation, joy, anger, fear, and even a thread of trust from the reactions. The varied intensity proved the report had struck several nerves—hard. It almost made him want to submit another outrageous report just for the energy.
"Maybe mission reports really are an underutilized cultivation method," he chuckled to himself. "Shocking the elders into giving me power... I like it."
Still, all that aside, twenty days was a long wait.
He was getting impatient.
Han Yu tapped his foot in the courtyard, arms folded, eyes squinting up at the cloud-speckled sky. He was just about to storm off and demand answers—politely, of course—when a shrill chirp pierced the air.
"Eh?"
A sharp shadow swooped down from above, wings slicing the air like spiritual fans. A messenger bird, cloaked in white and bearing the official crest of the Twin Leaf Peak Sect, spiraled down in a graceful arc before landing neatly on a branch.
It tilted its head at Han Yu, let out another proud chirp, then dropped a scroll directly into his hands.
"Finally," Han Yu muttered, unrolling the scroll with eager fingers. His eyes locked onto the sect seal—crimson wax stamped with the Twin Leaf sigil.
His heart thudded once in anticipation. freewёbnoνel-com
’Was this it?’
It was.
The first line confirmed it.
’In view of the mission results exceeding expectations, the Twin Leaf Peak Sect has revised the reward package for Disciple Han Yu.’
Han Yu blinked.
Revised?
His eyes scanned the lines quickly now, hunger driving his focus.
’Instead of the original 50,000 merit points, the sect has chosen to award you with 150,000 merit points in recognition of your service and exceptional reporting.’
"Wha—?" Han Yu’s eyes widened. "One hundred and fifty thousand!?"
He double-checked, flipped the scroll over, and then read the same sentence again.
No mistake.
Three times the original amount.
And that wasn’t all.
’In addition, you may claim either one Spirit Tool of your choosing from the Inner Vault, or a specialized alchemical pill suited to your cultivation path, pending Elder approval.’
Han Yu stood there in the courtyard, scroll flapping lightly in the breeze, mind racing like a horse on spirit fire.
He had expected a bonus maybe—ten percent, if they were being generous. Twenty, if Elder Hei had greased the wheels on his behalf.
But a threefold increase?
That was unheard of.
"This... this is more than enough."
The calculation ran instinctively in his head. The Undying Life Charm required seven key materials. He’d already acquired one—Fireborn Beast ashes—from his personal mission to the Slumbering Caldera which ended up turning into the main mission.
He’d originally taken this mission precisely because the 50,000 merit points were enough to buy at least two more components:
Jade Heart Silk, 10,000 points per strand. He needed two.
Reverse Blood Fruit, 30,000 points.
That would have left him with nothing, but at least three ingredients would be checked off.
But now?
With 150,000 merit points, he could buy all three and still have 100,000 to spare.
"Two strands of Jade Heart Silk... 20k. Reverse Blood Fruit, another 30k... that’s just 50k total," Han Yu murmured, eyes gleaming.
He didn’t even need a spirit abacus to know this changed everything.
The other four ingredients were far rarer—and far more expensive. But with this windfall, he could actually plan for them. Perhaps even bid on one during the next Sect auction. Or trade with other disciples or elders now that he had bargaining power. Perhaps he could even get them through the black markets.
And that spirit tool or alchemical pill? That was a bonus cherry atop a very rich cake.
Han Yu exhaled slowly, smiling as he rolled the scroll back up.
"That should keep the dreams of sudden death at bay for a bit," he said, pleased.
The Undying Life Charm was a survival masterpiece. It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t explosive. But it gave him one thing he desperately valued in his unpredictable world—
A second chance.
And now, with half its materials in hand, that second chance felt a little more real.
But as he was thinking about this, his mind wandered to another object he had obtained during this mission. The vial of liquid living flames he had obtained from the hidden altar.
Han Yu’s gaze went over to the floorboard under which he had hidden that vial. He knew it was too risky to keep it on his person, thus he had hidden it there. After all, who knew of others would scan him with their spirit sense and find it.
Considering the fact that the Mist Eye Sect was probably after it, even the Twin Leaf Peak Sect wouldn’t let him keep it. That little vial could very well be a tactical advantage for the entire sect.
’Plus I still don’t know what that flame is.’ Han Yu thought.
He had half an inkling to open the vial, but quickly shook his head as that would be far too risky. That vial was made from a crystal he didn’t even know about and couldn’t be pierced with his spirit sense.
This clearly screamed that it was meant to isolate the liquid flames.
