Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband-Chapter 1265: Strawberry-Flavored Lollipop
What’s he saying?
Does he not understand human speech? She’s already said she doesn’t want to eat it, not even a lick, she just doesn’t want the lollipop he’s offering.
"Miles, let go of me, I’m going home!" she said firmly.
Miles trapped her against his chest, holding the lollipop in one hand, "If you behave, I’ll let you go home."
His voice was already hoarse.
Willow Crawford didn’t know how to refuse him; she should reach out and push him away, but her small hands were tightly gripping the wall, afraid to touch his body that was so close. Beneath his thin T-shirt should be the taut muscles of a young man.
The heat from her face kept rising, the temperature between them surging several degrees higher.
Just then, the playful voice of Vivi Xavier sounded at her ear, "Willow! Willow, where are you?"
Vivi had bought lollipops and was now searching for her.
Willow Crawford was startled; Vivi was nearby and could easily discover her with Miles. She didn’t know what kind of wild thoughts Vivi might have.
"Miles, hurry up and let me go." Willow Crawford was a bit anxious.
Miles looked deeply at her, "Then give it a lick."
"..." There was no other way; Willow Crawford didn’t want to be discovered by Vivi, so she chose to compromise.
Willow Crawford quickly stuck out her little tongue and licked the lollipop.
So sweet.
It seemed to be... strawberry-flavored.
"Is it enough now?" Willow Crawford quickly ran off.
This time, Miles didn’t stop her, letting her go.
"Vivi, I’m here." Willow Crawford ran over to Vivi Xavier.
"Willow, didn’t I tell you to stay put and not wander off? Where did you go just now?" Vivi asked curiously, peeking around for a look.
Willow Crawford grabbed Vivi, "Vivi, let’s hurry home."
"Okay. Oh, Willow, why is your face so red?"
"Is it? Maybe... it’s too hot..."
Willow Crawford quickly changed the subject, but she didn’t need a mirror to know her face was flushed red, her mouth sweet, her mouth filled with the fresh sweetness of strawberry.
It’s hard to imagine him going to buy lollipops, and even buying strawberry-flavored ones.
...
Willow Crawford and Vivi Xavier got into a luxury car, but instead of going straight home, they went shopping.
On a rare weekend, the sisters took the opportunity to get some fresh air.
Willow Crawford went to a private library, walked in, and picked a design book.
The bookstore owner quickly approached, "Young lady, are you interested in fashion design? Are you studying fashion design?"
Willow Crawford shook her head, "No, but a friend of mine should be interested in fashion design."
"Do you want to buy this book for her? Then you’ve picked the right gift; this design book is a manuscript of the late master Aurelia Coco, now out of print, as my wife studied fashion design. She got this copy but now is pregnant and decided to place this book on the shelf, hoping to give it to a deserving person amidst the crowd."
Willow Crawford wasn’t studying design but had always worn designer brands from a young age, so she recognized Coco’s manuscript at a glance.
This indeed was out of print, and she didn’t expect to find it in this private library.
"Owner, I’ll take this book. Please wrap it up for me."
"Young lady, this book is quite expensive, priced at 130,000, you see..."
For such out-of-print books, you need both fate and money.
Willow Crawford was born a princess, never carrying cash with her. Her parents only gave her fixed living expenses, which weren’t enough to buy the book.
Willow Crawford thought for a moment, then removed a necklace from around her neck, "Owner, I’ll trade this necklace for the book. If you know your stuff, you’ll know this deal is worthwhile for you."
The owner ogled the necklace Willow presented; it was a classic piece from a luxury brand, worth several copies of the book, "Alright, young lady, I’ll wrap it up for you now."
Just then, Vivi Xavier tugged Willow Crawford’s sleeve, whispering, "Willow, that’s your favorite necklace that you’ve worn for a long time, are you just going to give it away?"
Willow Crawford nodded, smiling mysteriously, "Necklaces have a price, books are priceless."
"So, Willow, who are you giving the book to?"
To... Miles’s sister.
That day she saw a pen and a blank piece of paper under Celeste Linden’s pillow, suspecting she studies design, plus she noticed some fabric scraps which indicated fashion design.
Celeste Linden was originally a girl full of spirit.
"To a friend, whom you don’t know. And Vivi, do not tell mom about the necklace, okay?" Willow Crawford reminded.
"Got it, got it, it’s our secret." Vivi Xavier gestured an OK.
...
In the hospital.
Miles watched Willow Crawford and Vivi Xavier leave, then returned to the hospital room.
Celeste Linden lay on the hospital bed, dressed in oversized hospital clothes, passively letting the doctors and nurses check her, a lifeless puppet at their mercy.
Miles stood by the door watching, without entering.
"Miles, you’re back. What did you do with our school belle, why were you gone for so long?" Zachary asked nosily.
Miles didn’t respond.
Zachary was used to talking to himself; he glanced at Celeste in the hospital room and sighed, "Miles, the surgery is coming up, but sister isn’t happy at all."
Yes, he could tell; sister wasn’t happy at all.
That day Willow Crawford was right; sister’s heart was sick, he needs to bring her back.
But, how to bring her back?
Outside is too painful.
Just then, "ding" sounded, Miles’s phone chimed; a message arrived.
Opening the message, it quietly stated: Ethan Barnes has returned, now at 1949club.
Ethan Barnes, the demon who ruined Celeste Linden’s life.
Years ago, Miles’s knife pierced Ethan Barnes’s body, leaving Ethan severely wounded, subsequently treated abroad.
Now, Ethan Barnes returned.
Miles’s gaze turned icy and bloodthirsty in his cold and frigid fox-like eyes; he tucked his phone into his pocket, returning just in time. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Stay here with sister, I’m going out for a bit." Briefly explaining, Miles turned and left.
"Hey Miles, it’s so late, where are you going?" Zachary watched Miles’s elegant figure quickly vanish.
...
1949club.
This was the largest bar in the city, a famous money pit, where Celeste Linden was sold years ago as the top star.
Back then, Celeste’s first night was auctioned, and at the auction, Ethan Barnes threw money without care, buying Celeste Linden, subsequently locking her in a prolonged captivity.
Willow Crawford was dragged there forcefully by Vivi Xavier.
