Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 437: Missing Groom
Bradon looked sincerely apologetic and that made it very hard for me to blame him for anything. It was true that the organizers did most of the work anyways. Although he looked like he wanted to do more, I doubted that when it really came to it how much he could actually contribute to preparing a wedding.
"I want to get as much work out of the way so that when the time comes nothing and no one will disturb the wedding or distract me from it. Then after that, I wanted time for the two of us to enjoy a peaceful honeymoon together. Just the two of us," Bradon said.
His voice and his words soothed my feelings of anxiety. I had a hunch that Bradon was working so hard to ensure that he would have some time to spend with me. Hearing about the honeymoon surprised me in a very pleasant way.
"I guess this would be our second honeymoon in a way," I said as I recalled the first honeymoon that we went on together.
So much had happened between then and now that I was starting to lose count of all the adventures and the twists and turns that we had to take to get to where we were.
"It’ll be the best wedding and honeymoon ever, trust me," Bradon whispered to me tenderly.
Bradon moved his face closer to mine and I willingly offered him my lips. His kiss felt so tender as his warm lips brushed softly against mine before our kiss quickly deepened to reflect our desire. The wedding preparation and his work left us little time with each other and it had been a while since we were last intimate. Bradon licked my lower lip teasingly, making me moan from the desire that started to burn inside of my core.
There was no denying just how much I wanted him, and I didn’t even feel the need to hold myself back. When his tongue invaded my mouth, I moaned even louder than before into our heated kiss before I began kissing him back passionately. Bradon groaned into our kiss as I ran my fingers through his hair. His large hands moved to caress the small of my back before dipping lower.
"Ahh..." I moaned when his hand moved to caress my hips.
Our kiss grew hotter and wetter as his large manly hands began cupping and then massaging my ass. I could feel my nipples hardened with desire as an undeniable ache developed in between my thighs.
Suddenly, Bradon froze and he slowly broke our kiss. I stared at him in confusion as I tried my best to catch my breath. It was clear that Bradon was distracted, and it didn’t take long for me to realize that his phone had started to vibrate in his pants.
"What is it?" Bradon said, immediately after he answered the call.
The look that he shot me was clearly apologetic and I knew that the chances of us continuing where he had just left us was extremely slim. His brows suddenly drew together in a deep frown before he held us his hand to say farewell to me. All I could do was smile supportively to him as he turned to leave.
Since Bradon was still on the phone, I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to him. I watched Bradon leave through the door and disappear from sight. Even when he had already exited the room, I couldn’t bring myself to move.
"It’s just work...again..." I mumbled to myself.
Although I told myself that I needed to suck it up and be understanding because he was putting in the effort to clear his work for our sake so that we could both enjoy our upcoming wedding and honeymoon in a carefree manner, there was a sense of dissatisfaction that I found quite difficult to shake.
That night before I went to bed, I began wishing hard that nothing too surprising would happen at our wedding. It felt futile to wish for nothing to happen considering the fact that Desmond seemed more than determined to be there, but I hoped that it wasn’t asking for too much for the surprise to be something that Bradon and I could handle.
...
**The day of the wedding**
The day of our wedding finally arrived. I knew that something was off the moment that I opened my eyes. Although I haven’t spoken to or seen anyone, my gut was already telling me that the day would be a needlessly adventurous one. My body felt heavy with dread the moment that I got to my feet.
One of the maids quickly told me that my sister had arrived and was waiting for me in the living room. I simply nodded in acknowledgement before heading downstairs to where Diana was waiting for me.
"You’re here early," I greeted her before yawning.
"That’s not the point. Do you know that your groom-to-be isn’t here anymore?" Diana asked flatly.
"You mean Bradon? He isn’t here?" I asked as a sinking feeling developed in my stomach.
"He want out very early this morning according to that guy called Zain," Diana replied.
She stared at me with challenging eyes as if reprimanding me for not knowing where my husband-to-be had headed off to. I was definitely surprised that Bradon was already diverting from the plan of the day that we had agreed on with the organizers.
"And it’s just the morning..." I mumbled to myself.
The day had barely begun and he was already nowhere to be seen. We were supposed to head to the venue together and meet with the organizers there way ahead of time so that we had time to prepare.
"Where did he go off to? Is he working again? It’s his wedding day, for crying out loud," Diana complained loudly.
"I’ll give him a call..." I quickly told my sister.
Diana rolled her eyes at me once and then again when Bradon did not answer my call. I wasn’t sure how to feel at that moment. There was a mix of confusion, frustration, anger, and then simply worry.
