Summoner Online: I Became the Tutorial Boss with a 999+ Villainess-Chapter 45: The Broken Artifacts
With his blade aimed at the monsters looking towards him and his team, Thomas could not help but smile.
Despite the fact he was outnumbered by them, he still felt confident. It was a match he could win with ease.
Why?
Because he had the Third-Grade Artifacts with him.
Due to his connection with one of the developers of the game, he was offered three Third-Grade Artifacts as a starter pack for logging into the game. It was a perk of knowing the right people in the real world.
The first was supposed to help him steal a monster’s EXP after killing them, but he soon learnt that also worked on players as well.
The second was there to continuously multiply his damage by ten every time he landed a hit. As an Assassin class, it was the best he could ask for. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
And then the last one.
The last did two things. First, it helped continuously transfer all damage received into HP, meaning as long as they were getting hit, they would still be having high HP. It was damn near immortality.
The second part to that was, he could instantly duplicate this artifact’s effect to people as many times as he wanted, as long as they were in the same Guild with him.
As such, because of these buffs that he carried, he was more than certain he would be able to clear out the dungeon quickly.
Looking at the two women standing right next to the Shadow, he marked them, already taking them as his first targets.
"You heard them, boys. Kill them all."
The silence settled for a while.
Then from nowhere—
Both parties charged at each other in a wild clash.
Skeletons and Imps immediately launched against the players, pinning them to the ground so fast they could barely scream before they were killed on the spot.
At first, it looked as though some of those players were just unlucky, until more and more players began to drop just from the lowest-level monsters attacking them.
The Generals watched the entire thing play out from afar, watching as the battle unfolded. It was a great way to showcase their leadership in front of Kai.
Some of the demons were getting killed; however, for every fifteen men that had died from the human side, only two demons had been dropped.
And with time, Thomas was starting to understand that something was terribly wrong.
"Oi, what is going on here? Why are my people dying so quickly? Their HP should be near infinite; they can just—"
Before he could complete those words, he noticed the moment a monster pounced on one of his teammates. Their artifact effect immediately turned off, almost as though it was destroyed, allowing the monsters to kill the players without any kind of stress.
"No way..."
Thomas took a couple of steps back, his gaze slowly turning towards the Shadow of Victims.
He watched as the Boss was simply sitting there, watching from a planned distance.
Thomas frowned at the sight.
While he was not sure what was happening, he knew the Boss had to be the one behind the effects.
To him, he thought perhaps it was the Boss’s ability, and if he could kill the Boss, the ability would turn off, and his players could finally stand a chance.
"Die you bastard!!!"
It was quite clear that he had made his choice.
With a single leap, he soared forward, his blade glowing a golden hue as he shot right above the entire army of monsters, heading straight for Kai while dodging the rest of the monsters who were already chasing him.
Kai did not move a muscle from where he was.
Not even a single hint of fear played on his face.
With enough speed and agility, Thomas was able to leap far into the air, dodging the Generals that seemed to have formed a defensive wall right in front of the mansion.
However, just as Thomas was falling toward the stairs with a big smile on his face at the thought that he was going to kill Kai and claim his victory... he froze up in shock at what happened next.
Firstly, unless he was mistaken, he was certain he saw Emilya standing in the shadows not too far from Kai.
And then—
Lyra and Carlotta, who had only moments ago been standing right next to Kai, suddenly appeared right next to Thomas in the air, flanking both his sides.
Frozen in shock, Thomas could not react quickly to their attack.
While Lyra grabbed his head, Carlotta took hold of his ribs.
And then—
Tear.
They tore him into two like paper, pulling him from both sides in an instant.
The rest of his body parts fell to the ground along with the rain of blood.
Lyra held in her hand a piece of his head and shoulder, and as for Carlotta, all she had in her hand were chunks of meat and bone.
"Eww, disgusting. Human flesh." Carlotta threw the meat to the side, wiping her hand on her dress. "Urgh, and I was thinking I would not get my hands dirty today too."
"Is that so? You sound like you are complaining." Lyra chimed in.
"Of course I am, I don’t want no human blood on my hands."
"Really? Quite the opposite for me. I do enjoy ripping them apart." Lyra threw the head of the player to the side with a smile.
Before looking to their Lord, they turned to the massacre that was happening not too far away from where they were.
Every monster in the dungeon was basically slaughtering the players. Many of the players who had hoped to run away were killed brutally, their body parts scattered across the ground.
"Looks like they are angry. They are not showing the humans any mercy." Lyra smiled.
"Serves them right. They came here looking to kill Lord Kai. I am sure they were surprised when they realized my Lord was two steps ahead. Hehe." Carlotta had a proud look on her face.
"My Lord truly is as impressive as always. Even now, I am sure he already foresaw this victory."
Meanwhile...
’Holy shit!’
Kai watched the notifications scroll past his eyes faster than he could read them.
