Supernatural Insight Eyes-Chapter 1765: The Past! (Second Update)
Ye Qiu followed the Hua siblings to their private pavilion, observing the wooden abode. The air was fragrant, clearly recently renovated.
"Hmph, you only thought of this place once our sister became the top prodigy of the Piaomiao Sect," Hua Wuji remarked indifferently.
Hua Wuhun knocked Hua Wuji on the head, "No matter what, Father means well. You shouldn’t always oppose him."
"He ignored us in our youth, and now that we’ve become strong and beneficial to him, he thinks of us. I find it hard to feel any fatherly love towards him," Hua Wuji stubbornly replied.
Hua Wuhun knew her brother Hua Wuji harbored resentment towards their father and family, something that couldn’t be resolved overnight. So, she didn’t say more and instead turned to Ye Qiu with a smile, "I’m sorry you had to witness this, Sect Leader Ye."
Ye Qiu shook his head. Speaking of fathers and family, Ye Qiu would have preferred having a father he could resent. He had never experienced such emotions; if it weren’t for Old Taiyang adopting him back then, he might have wandered forever, living an ordinary life.
"Wu Ji, take me around your family estate," Ye Qiu suddenly suggested. Hua Wuji agreed, while Hua Wuhun stayed behind, with Hua Wuji leading Ye Qiu on a tour.
They exited the pavilion and courtyard, arriving at a garden. The Hua family’s grandeur was undeniable—the garden was exquisitely designed, with artificial mountains and springs, reminiscent of the Suzhou Gardens.
Ye Qiu wasn’t particularly interested in these picturesque sceneries. They continued until they arrived at a training ground.
At the moment, some Hua family youths were practicing martial arts on the training ground, their shouts audible from a distance.
"These young ones, some are Hua family heirs, some are children of servants, all undergoing training together," Hua Wuji said, watching the young trainees.
"You’ll be one of them in the future, right?" Ye Qiu said with a smile.
Hua Wuji nodded, "Yes, back then my goal was to make Father notice me, so I trained hard."
"With your talent, it shouldn’t be difficult," Ye Qiu noted honestly. Hua Wuji’s potential surpassed even that of Hua Wuhun, considering he had reached the Void-breaking Realm on his own strength.
"What good is talent if others are envious?" Hua Wuji muttered.
Ye Qiu could sense the underlying implications. Without prompting, Hua Wuji continued, "I was only seven, just starting in martial arts. I thought if I trained hard, I could earn the family’s attention and gain Father’s praise. However..."
Hua Wuji recounted an incident that left Ye Qiu reflecting on the woes of being in a large family.
Sometimes, external enemies aren’t the most frightening; it’s those close to you.
Apparently, after Hua Wuji was praised by the family instructors a few times, someone became jealous and plotted to poison him. Fortunately, Hua Wuji overheard this. This realization made Hua Wuji understand that without a mother to protect him and a father who didn’t care, showing talent might not earn him praise from his father; it might lead to his demise first.
Thus, from then on, Hua Wuji learned to hide his abilities, practicing martial arts without eagerness, fearing that his young self could not evade others’ schemes. He even meticulously inspected his food, worried about being poisoned.
Lived long in such a family, it’s no wonder Hua Wuji felt no affection for them.
This also explained why he appeared so indifferent upon reentering the family, as if harboring a facade.
It was instinctual; accustomed to disguising himself within the family and hiding his true self, it became a habit.
Even when servants showed him respect, he associated their actions with ulterior motives.
Moreover, Hua Wuji had many brothers and some cousins, with a large family. His father, as Clan Leader, was very busy and had many offspring, so it’s not surprising that Hua Wuji was overlooked.
Over time, Hua Wuji developed a layer of indifference in his personality.
Hua Wuji spoke a lot, as if finding a vent, and felt much relieved after speaking.
If not considering Ye Qiu a friend, he wouldn’t have confessed so much. Ye Qiu merely patted Hua Wuji’s shoulder, and they both laughed heartily.
"Actually, my sister had it worse than me, but I can’t do what she did. I don’t feel indebted to the family," Hua Wuji shifted the topic to his sister, Hua Wuhun.
Ye Qiu could relate. Without a mother, with only the siblings relying on each other, Hua Wuji endured much hardship. As Hua Wuhun, the elder sister, she suffered a lot to protect her brother. But unlike Hua Wuji, Hua Wuhun remained grateful to the family and respectful to their father.
Just then, a voice interrupted Hua Wuji’s words.
A few figures appeared in the distance.
In a blink, they arrived before them.
"Hua Wuji, I heard you’ve broken through the Void-breaking Realm and have been defying Father in the main hall several times."
Hua Wuji’s eyes sharpened, staring at the newcomers. Ye Qiu noticed that one of the young faces was familiar, someone he had seen in the main hall before, named Hua Tianyu.
However, then Hua Tianyu had been silent, cowed by Hua Wuji’s Void-breaking aura. Appearing now, it seems he wasn’t uninvolved.
He must have called others, now seeking Hua Wuji for revenge. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Hua Tianbing," Hua Wuji called out the person’s name, aware of their hostile intentions.
Hua Tianbing!
Ye Qiu’s heart stirred. He had heard Hua Wuji mention Hua Tianbing several times during his childhood recollection.
Hua Tianbing and Hua Tianyu were brothers, sharing the same mother. In Hua Wuji’s youth, these brothers often bullied him, especially Hua Tianbing, who was not only a year older than Hua Wuji but also exceptionally gifted in martial arts. Later, due to fortuitous circumstances, he joined a major sect outside Qingfeng County, reaching the Void-breaking Realm well over six months before Hua Wuhun.
Hua Tianbing was always Hua Mantang’s pride, a disciple showered with vast family resources and high expectations from Hua Mantang.
Despite being adored by many, Hua Tianbing harbored animosity toward Hua Wuji, particularly when Hua Wuji displayed martial arts talent. Hua Tianbing even attempted to poison Hua Wuji, but ceased when Hua Wuji became reclusive.
Now facing Hua Tianbing again, Hua Wuji was furious. However, he was no longer that young boy. Though Hua Tianbing’s presence in the family was unexpected, Hua Wuji felt no fear.
In terms of strength, he too was in the Void-breaking Realm, unlikely to be much weaker than Hua Tianbing.
"Hua Tianyu, you’re no match for me, and now you’ve summoned your brother. What? Do you intend to attack me?" Since the other party made the first move, Hua Wuji wouldn’t let the opportunity to mock them pass.
As expected, at Hua Wuji’s words, Hua Tianyu’s face turned unsightly.
