Chapter 2067: The Leander Family will not dare to attack u—
"Report."
A tall being sitting on a throne with a leisurely, almost bored look on his face ordered.
He had golden-veined obsidian skin, glowing faintly as if there was molten stone beneath it. His eyes were hollow, like glass orbs refracting faint light. A thin, unbroken obsidian halo was floating behind his head like a divine mark. He wore silver armor, smooth and polished to a mirror-finish, layered with robes of ivory and gold.
The air around him radiated purity and justice,
Or at least... that should have been the case.
But...
Something about him was different from his people.
He was Vexarion Aurendor, the Sovereign of Aurendor and the being who called himself the Herald of Justice.
*Picture*
In front of him knelt another being with similar features as him; clearly, they belonged to the same race. His subordinate, however, did not have the halo hovering over his head.
The halo seemed like the mark of leadership,
The sign of absoluteness.
At Vexarion’s orders, his subordinate finally raised his head and began,
"The worlds under Khaemorr have started removing the Chaos Energy, making it difficult for our people to sneak in. Some of our subordinates were therefore caught. We have tried initiating negotiations to bring our people back, but we have not received any answers yet."
"What...?"
The instant he heard those words, Vexarion’s expression changed.
Other than a few minor inconveniences, everything had been going in his favor. This was also the reason he was so laid back till now,
But in just a few hours, this was the second bad news he had received.
"They removed the Chaos Energy...?"
He couldn’t believe it.
Why would they do it?
"Did they deal with the Leander Family?"
"There are no such reports yet. If they had, they would have announced it, considering how much damage they have taken."
Vexarion nodded.
He agreed with those words.
The Universe sees Khaemorr and its Faction as a joke. They have become easy targets everyone could pick on. With such operations, it was only a matter of time before their Faction was dissolved.
If Sharnoth had dealt with the Leander Family, she would have announced it that very instant in order to cut off her losses.
Then...
Does this mean whatever they were planning failed?
Honestly, when they came up with such a desperate countermeasure, he thought that they might have a plan against the Leander Family. After all, even he, Sharnoth’s long-standing enemy, did not know that the woman had the Power over Chaos.
Just this fact alone was more than enough for him to seek the Supreme Worlds’ aid against her. The only reason he hadn’t reported anything till now was because he wanted to capture Sharnoth on his own and deliver her to the Supreme Worlds himself.
After all, he would gain much more that way.
Who knows?
He might even become Light’s direct subordinate.
It was truly a one-in-a-billion-year opportunity, an opportunity he couldn’t give up on no matter what, even if it meant losing a few of his subordinates.
After all, their lives held no value in front of what he would gain if his plan came through. All he needed to do was express his grief for his fallen ’comrades’ and that would be enough. Even being present at their funeral would be an honor they usually would have never received.
But it was indeed surprising—to think even after showing her trump card and turning herself into nothing more than a shining target for the rest of the Universe, she still wasn’t able to get rid of the Leander Family. It was almost funny.
Vexarion felt embarrassed that he had been at a standstill against them for tens of thousands of years. It would have been much better if he had destroyed them before.
After all, a Faction that couldn’t even deal with a mere mercenary party—how could they possibly stand against him?
He was being overly cautious.
It was a mistake.
"What about the Leander Family? Did we receive any reply?"
He questioned.
"...we did not."
His subordinate shook his head with a hesitant look on his face. He knew this had become a triggering point for his Master. The Leander Family has been ignoring their summons as if they do not exist.
They weren’t putting them in their eyes at all, and it had become annoying, especially for someone like Vexarion, who had never been treated in this manner before.
"Heh."
At those words, Vexarion clenched his fists in anger. Soon, however, he controlled his expression and smiled gently and ’gracefully.’
"They are quite an odd bunch, aren’t they?"
He laughed politely.
"..."
The subordinate knew it was better to stay silent. He had no intention of losing his head.
"What about the Transcendents who disappeared a few hours ago? Did you find anything regarding the matter?"
"...no, we did not."
Once again, the subordinate shook his head, and Vexarion...
His ’gentle’ smile widened,
"You have become lethargic these days, haven’t you, Ythric? You should work on that, don’t you think? After all, sloth is a sin. If it spreads too far... I will have no choice but to purge you."
"I..."
Ythric trembled.
Honestly, he wanted to mention a theory he had in his mind, but since he had no way to prove it, he didn’t dare to say it out loud.
After all, his Master wasn’t in his best mood right now.
Vexarion, who sensed his hesitation—
"Speak."
He ordered.
Ythric stared at him dubiously. Now that he was given permission, he somehow regained his confidence and,
"Before the Leander Family targeted Khaemorr and the worlds in its Faction, some of Khaemorr’s Transcendents had disappeared as well."
"Are you saying...?"
"It could just be a coincidence. This was also the reason I did not mention it—not till I had something more concrete. I tried contacting our spies in Khaemorr to learn more about the disappearance of their Transcendents, but the situation there is quite chaotic. Sharnoth is keeping an eye on everyone because of recent betrayals; they aren’t in a position to answer my questions."
Ythric answered.
"Cease the needless worry, the Leander Family will not dare to attack u—"
"Lord Vexarion!"
Before Vexarion could even complete his sentence, another subordinate barged in with a horrified look on his face and—
"I-It is the Leander Family!!"
