Kael felt the weight of the pressure as the pack leader advanced, its glowing red eyes locked onto him as if he were the only target. The sound of the other wolves positioning themselves around him was deafening. But Kael didn’t hesitate. He raised his hands, focusing his energy as the wind began to stir, rustling his hair.

"Ventus Malum," he whispered, unleashing a gust of wind that swept away the nearest wolves, temporarily forcing them back. But the pack leader did not retreat; its fury only seemed to grow. Kael knew he couldn’t rely on weak attacks.

The first strike came from a dark-furred wolf, leaping swiftly toward him. He conjured a barrier of wind, forming an invisible curtain of compressed air that forced the wolf to swerve mid-air and crash to the ground with a heavy thud. The impact shook the earth, but Kael wasted no time. He turned his focus to the others—his allies were already in action.

Darek, his massive axe raised high, stepped forward to face the pack leader. He roared, as if challenging the beast, and swung a powerful horizontal strike. The alpha wolf, its muscles tensed and eyes gleaming, attempted to dodge, but Darek was quick—the axe carved into the wolf’s flesh with a deep, resounding impact.

"Now we’re talking!" Darek growled, but the wolf immediately retaliated, slashing at him with razor-sharp claws, nearly catching the warrior. Darek barely managed to roll aside, evading the deadly blow. At the same moment, he pointed his axe skyward, letting out a fierce battle cry.

Lira, meanwhile, had taken an elevated position, using the trees as cover. She had already loosed two arrows while Kael focused on his magic. The arrows cut through the wolves with surgical precision, striking one that had been moments away from attacking Elaris. Lira’s marksmanship was swift and deadly, keeping the wolves at bay.

"Headshots are more fun!" Lira shouted, nocking another arrow as her feet danced effortlessly across the tree branches. Her movements were fluid and natural, each shot an extension of her agility. The wolves struggled to keep up with her speed.

"I thought they were just three idiots..." Kael smirked as he observed his allies. He knew the chaos was only beginning.

The alpha wolf finally made the move Kael had feared. With a thunderous roar, it lunged straight at him, claws poised to tear him apart.

"Watch out!" Kael shouted, creating a wind wall as dense as a fortress, pushing the wolf backward. But the sheer force of the beast’s attack sent Kael skidding across the ground.

He couldn’t afford to be knocked down. Kael gathered his mana and extended his hands, creating a vortex of wind around him. The tempest rapidly expanded, violently blasting through the pack and momentarily scattering them. He then moved swiftly, leaping into the air and using his wind magic to enhance his speed.

"Now..." Kael unleashed a cutting wind blast, striking multiple wolves at once, slicing through their flesh and forcing them to retreat. He then summoned his shadow sword, its dark energy pulsating ominously.

But he had no time to follow up—the alpha was already back, charging toward Lira. Without hesitation, Kael sliced through the air and propelled himself forward with a burst of wind, sending a powerful shockwave straight into the beast’s body, slamming it into the ground with brutal force.

The leader rolled across the dirt, crashing into a boulder as it struggled to rise, but Kael wouldn’t give it the chance. He raised his hands, channeling his magical energy once more.

"Wind Tornado."

A vicious storm of wind erupted around the wolf, lifting it into the air as it was caught in the merciless cyclone. The beast howled, its claws slashing at the air in desperation, but the storm held it captive. Kael felt a surge of satisfaction as the creature was helplessly suspended, his wind magic keeping it in place.

At that moment, Darek charged once more, his massive axe poised for the final strike. He wasted no time, bringing the weapon down in a decisive blow straight to the alpha’s neck.

The impact was devastating.

With one last, agonized howl, the pack leader collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

The remaining wolves, now leaderless, began to hesitate. But Kael knew they couldn’t be underestimated. They were hungry and vengeful. Lira then shot another arrow, and Elaris cast a fireball that illuminated the forest, incinerating one of the wolves in flames.

With one last scream, Kael raised his hands and, in a final act of power, summoned a massive wave of wind, devastating the remaining wolves as if they were mere straw in the wind.

When the storm dissipated, Kael looked at the adventurers, exhausted but with a triumphant smile.

"Good fight. We’ll all survive this, for now." He took a deep breath, sweaty and tired, but feeling the adrenaline still coursing through his veins.

Darek raised his axe, grinning with his usual brutal charm. "Not every day you see an eleven-year-old kid take down a pack leader, huh?"

Lira jumped down from the tree, placing her arrow back in her quiver. "I wonder... what else you can do with that wind? You really have some interesting skills."

Elaris, who had remained in position until now, placed her hands on her hips, clearly exhausted but still firm. "A full explanation, please. Now."

Kael gave a wry smile, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "My master is really good," he replied with calm confidence, shrugging his shoulders.

The adventurers looked at him with mixed expressions—confusion, curiosity, and a hint of admiration—as Kael turned toward the corpse of the pack leader. He began to move away, taking deep breaths to recover his strength.

For a brief moment, everything seemed to slow down. The sound around him disappeared, and Kael felt something was wrong. The air had changed, heavy and dense, as if the very environment was holding its breath. Before he could react, a fierce sound ripped through the silence.

A guttural roar echoed through the clearing.

"It can’t be...!" Lira screamed, already nocking an arrow as Darek raised his axe.

The pack leader, whom they had all assumed dead, rose with a supernatural ferocity. Blood dripped from its wounds, but its eyes glowed with a primordial hatred, radiating an intense red light. In one final burst of strength, the wolf launched its massive body directly at Kael.

Kael felt the impact before he even processed what was happening. The wolf’s muscular form hit him like a battering ram, the air forced out of his lungs as he was thrown backward. Everything around him became a blur of motion and pain.

"Kael!" Elaris screamed, reaching out as if she could catch him, but it was too late.

The attack was devastating. The force of the impact sent Kael flying off the ground, his body spinning uncontrollably through the air. He tried to cast a spell to slow his fall, but the energy was still dispersed from the sudden attack. Before he could react, he crashed through a barrier of branches and leaves, disappearing from the others’ view as he tumbled down a steep incline.

Kael rolled down the slope, his body slamming against rocks and roots. He tried to grab onto something, but the incline was too steep, and gravity dragged him relentlessly. Finally, he stopped when he hit a small clearing at the base of the slope, his body crashing into the ground with force. He groaned in pain but was still alive—for now.

Above, the adventurers ran to the edge of the cliff, looking down. The descent was long and treacherous, and they could see Kael unconscious among the dense trees.

"He fell too far! There’s no way we can reach him without a larger group and climbing gear!" Lira said, her voice tight with urgency.

"Shit... Is he alive down there?" Darek asked, clenching his fists.

Elaris, trying to stay calm, used her staff to cast a light spell that illuminated the spot where Kael was. She sighed in relief as she saw him move slightly, but the distance was vast.

"He’s alive, but... alone," Elaris murmured, her mind already working on alternatives.

Meanwhile, Kael opened his eyes, blinking slowly as his vision came into focus. He felt a sharp pang in his shoulder and the side of his body, but there were no fatal wounds. Looking around, he realized he was in a completely isolated part of the forest, surrounded by dense vegetation and steep rocks.

"Great..." he muttered with sarcasm, trying to get up, but the pain made him stagger. "Why is it always me who ends up in these impossible places?"

He looked up and saw the adventurers, small and distant at the edge of the slope. There was no way they could descend to reach him.

Kael took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the situation. He was alone, injured, and in unfamiliar territory. The forest around him felt different, denser, and a sense of unease began to grow.

"Now it’s just you and me, Kael," he murmured to himself, trying to gather his strength and magic. "And I hope this isn’t the start of more problems... though it probably is."
