Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 267: Single-Handedly
’You’ve got to be kidding me!’
The collective caution that had spread among the human troops vanished in an instant, replaced by raw amazement.
Here they stood, members of the strongest factions, chosen to halt the alien advancement. Hundreds of seasoned soldiers filled their ranks, casualties already mounting. And yet the Indomitable Alliance, a faction that seemed to have emerged from nowhere, had not only earned the honor of fighting on the front lines but had accomplished what the others could not, without a single casualty!
"No! It won’t be!"
Since humans were social creatures, one of the most powerful emotions driving their collective behavior was neither love nor fear... It was shame.
As a surge of humiliation washed over their minds, all caution seemed to melt in an instant.
They would prove it. They would show they deserved a place on the front lines. The world would have no choice but to acknowledge their worth, whether it liked it or not!
"CHARGE!"
With their mindset shifted, they let go of all hesitation, meeting the alien advancement with ruthless brutality.
And they were not alone.
Michael’s crew had not only proven themselves the deadliest, but they were also flanking the aliens. With no other alternative, the aliens were forced to pull part of their attacking force from the front line, easing the burden on the soldiers charging ahead.
Like pouring gasoline into a fire, the soldiers realized the aliens’ forces weren’t as daunting as before, which made their resolve harden even more.
The small opportunity created by Michael’s crew completely turned the tide of the battle in their favor.
Morale truly was the most vital element of any battlefield!
A faint smirk spread across Michael’s face.
"So they have woken up." He mused out, accelerating towards the alien threat.
Unfortunately, due to the scene they had caused, taking down any more alien battleships would prove a daunting challenge. Of the remaining twelve battleships, not one, not two, but three had turned their attention toward Michael’s squad!
A full quarter of the entire alien fleet was now focused solely on them!
To make matters worse, on each of those ships stood a figure radiating the aura of an Overlord, arms crossed in a posture of confident dominance. With one ship already down, it was clear that Michael’s crew was perceived as a real threat to their leaders. The aliens weren’t foolish enough to hide from the battle.
"Michael!" Claire’s voice, laced with caution, echoed.
"Your orders?"
His eyes narrowed momentarily. They were in a tight spot, but that was exactly where they needed to be. With part of the aliens’ focus diverted, it was only a matter of time before the human troops neutralized the alien’s fleet.
Now their sole task was to keep the enemy at bay while the human forces clashed with the rest of the alien ships.
But considering they were about to face Overlords as well as their minions, Michael needed to carefully consider how to split their forces. Making the wrong call could easily lead to their demise.
"Claire, Enzo, Amelia, and Cyberfang, you’ll take the forces from the left. Victoria, Richard, Ava, and Leo, stop the ones on the right."
Since Claire was undoubtedly the best mecha pilot among them, Michael judged that she would be the primary damage dealer on one side, while Victoria and Richard would share the responsibility of leading the other.
Meanwhile, Enzo, Amelia, and Cyberfang synergized pretty well together, as did Ava and Leo. It was the most balanced diversion of their forces. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Victoria gritted her teeth. "But what about the central front?"
Michael smiled, though this time it lacked its usual warmth.
"You know the answer."
Instantly, the form of his mecha blurred as he fearlessly dashed toward the center.
Having unwavering trust in his crew and their abilities, he didn’t waste time doubting them.
"Bryce." He spoke calmly. "With the forces diverted, you’ll be overwhelmed trying to manage three squads at once. Focus on the others."
"Michael, wait—"
Wordlessly, Michael cut him off as he glanced at Ruby. Despite the chaos around her, she didn’t seem distracted, diligently carrying out her task of absorbing the spiritual energy.
"As much as I hate to admit it, I might need your help... So grow strong." He murmured gently.
Ruby didn’t show any outward reaction. Whether she had heard him or not remained a mystery.
Regardless, Michael took a deep breath, his eyes settling onto the Overlord at the top of the central alien battleship, his gaze starting to blaze crimson.
Though it wasn’t apparent, the boiling rage that surged through his soul when he fixed his gaze on the Emperor still lingered.
Fortunately... He had found the perfect outlet to unleash his fury upon.
"Ah..."
A menacing chuckle escaped from his lips.
"Quite lucky I am..."
The brow of the central Overlord twitched in surprise as it watched Michael, its gaze widening in disbelief as the human forces split, with only Michael advancing toward it.
"Are they underestimating me?"
The Overlord muttered aloud, its disbelief settling a second later.
"No... That must be their leader! Does he think charging at me will provoke me to fight fairly?"
With a sneer, the Overlord ordered the cannons of the battleship to fire at Michael, the alien shuttles moving in his direction as well.
"Well, think again, you lowly human!" The Overlord bellowed, charging to meet Michael’s dash. "Your inferior race doesn’t get to duel us!"
Even the mighty Lords would inevitably find their resolve faltering in the face of the sheer size of the enemy forces they were meant to confront.
However, Michael had never expected to fight the Overlord in a duel. Quite the opposite, in fact. With the shuttles and cannons of the battleship focused solely on him, it meant the pressure on the other soldiers would lessen thanks to his actions.
"I’ve already slain one of your kind!" Michael shouted as his mecha’s blade clashed with the Overlord’s limb.
"Don’t think even for a second that your lowly alien race can hold a candle to humanity!"
Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Michael found himself single-handedly holding off an entire alien battleship.
