Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World-Chapter 229
Promised Path to Defeat (1)
Two days later, the detached force of the Thunder King and the Archmage arrived at Fort Poltaron.
Soldiers began to camp east of the fort.
Five individuals were watching it on the wall.
It was Ryu Han-bin, Leon Hart, Kibie, Artis, and Effir.
The other powerful persons of Allendia, including Lord Lacrell and the five Templar Lords, continued to station in Fort Fieldrocks and Alseed. Only Han-bin’s party could move quickly using Effir.
Artis looked at the form of the enemy’s camp and spoke.
“Not in the form of a siege?”
Unlike during the Battle of Fort Fieldrocks, the enemy did not form a siege. Instead, they were divided into three units and took the form of a forward attack.
“They have 8,000 troops. Not enough numbers to surround the entire fort.”
Leon Hart spoiled Artis’s words.
“That’s big enough. The Battle of Fieldrocks is clouding our judgment.”
Besides, numbers didn’t matter.
The real threat was the two absolute powers leading them, the sinners of Latna seeking the divine position of the Goddesses.
“Those who want to be gods…”
Instead of muttering, Ryu Han-bin looked back at Kibie.
“I can’t use the skill ‘Lord Throughout Heaven and Earth,’ can I?”
She shook her head.
“Yes, it’s too much.”
One premise was needed to use the divinity inhibition skill of the Guideline.
There had to be the Complete Omphalos’s Blessing, which lifted Hollien to a higher form and the last piece they did not get.
“I’ve tried all the time, but there’s no way to separate it again.”
“Is that so?”
Han-bin shook his head in regret.
“Throw it around and become a god. Then screw it over. So the plan has failed. That’s what happened.”
“What a crude expression.”
Kibie continued with her mouth pouting.
“Even if the Complete Omphalos’s Blessing can be separated, it is desirable not to use the divinity inhibition skill as much as possible.”
Defeating the Thunder King in that way would only restore the unhandled divine power of Hollien’s time.
On the other hand, if done normally, at least a third would return.
Goddess’s faith, which could be handled entirely by Kibie’s will.
“Dealing with the remaining Archmage is not rocket science.”
“It sounds simple, but you know it’s more comfortable to use the skill ‘The Lord Throughout Heaven and Earth,’ right?”
“I know, but what do you suppose I do? There’s no way we can do that. You should at least change your approach.”
The two smiled at each other, and they turned to the wall.
The enemy lines were moving.
They seemed to be about to begin the siege.
Ryu Han-bin touched his belt.
“Anyway, I can only use this once a day…”
With the power of unique items, his Aura was converted to Mana. The converted Mana flowed according to the formula and turned into light.
“When I can use it, I should use it first!”
Magic Arrow, a basic magic spell that didn’t even require a catalyst.
“Number one, fire!”
It soared into the air with magnificence.
* * *
A pillar of light flew through the sky.
Among the detached troops, those who belonged to the senior class burst into a roar.
They had already seen it many times, the light that could cause merciless devastation.
“Everyone, brace for it!!”
“The magic of the Sword King!”
The spell was also reflected in Genovia’s eyes, standing in the center of the camp.
The reaction was completely different.
“Sadly crude magic.”
It was simply the height of inefficiency.
‘He just compressed Mana into one point.’
“It’s like a farmer putting a whole bag of seeds in one hole, right?”
She didn’t even have to use her strength to stop that.
She raised her finger.
She pulled up thin Mana, then gave it a blow like a needle.
“Poke it. Then it’s over.”
A tiny gap was made in the magnificent pillar of light.
The crevice cracked and grew bigger.
The flying Magic Arrow was violently shaken and dispersed into tens and hundreds of light.
Boom!
Ryu Han-bin at the top of the wall was shocked.
‘… The spell cracked by itself?’
His other version of it flew and turned into a heavy rainstorm of Magic Arrows.
It didn’t do much damage, and even a normal soldier could block it.
Genovia didn’t just watch it unfold.
She flicked her finger.
“I’ll give it back.”
Hundreds of Magic Arrows flying through the air stopped moving for a moment. They then turned around and fired into Fort Poltaron.
There was a disturbance on the wall.
“Huh, the attack is coming back!”
“Everyone on the defensive!”
Tons of explosions soon occurred throughout the wall.
Boom!
There was no significant damage.
It was just a normal set of Magic Arrows. None of the forces in that fort were at a low enough level to be affected.
Their morale didn’t go down, either.
“That’s why she is called the Archmage.”
“Well, that was within expectations.”
“Why should we be surprised that the Queen of the Mado Kingdom has defeated the Sword King in the fields of magic?”
Genovia, of course, didn’t mean to end the counterattack there either.
“Human psychology is funny.”
Smiling, she tilted her staff slightly.
“Whenever I see people acting like that, I can’t help but show what true talent is.”
At the end of her staff, the seeds of light flowed out and were buried in the ground.
Soon, it turned into a giant tree. Roots were exposed, forming arrow feathers, and countless branches gathered and pointed towards the fort.
A pillar of light stood tall amid the battlefield.
It was a gigantic Magic Arrow that looked the same as Ryu Han-bin’s.
Garhan tilted his head as he watched the scene.
“You said it was crude, but now you’re using the same magic?”
“I didn’t use my Mana so ignorantly like he did.”
Grumbling, Genovia waved her staff lightly.
“He shouldn’t be that arrogant.”
Boom!
The mega Magic Arrow began to fly towards Fort Poltaron.
Han-bin’s expression was filled with surprise.
Even his dull spiritual sense could feel it.
If that thing fell on the fort, half the eastern wall would explode!
“Effir!”
“Yes!”
The black Wyvern flew into the air.
Ryu Han-bin became curious as he climbed on quickly.
“… When did you transform?”
“The atmosphere was serious. I thought it was going to be like this.”
“Your senses are amazing.”
Regardless, he didn’t think they would be late, and it was all thanks to her.
Effir crossed the sky in a straight line.
Han-bin thrust his Gigant deeply toward the flying pillar of light.
-Stabb!
At that moment, the Mado Queen’s Magic Arrow dispersed into four.
Faaaaaaaaaaa!
The first one in front of him exploded through the penetration of the Gigant…
Boom!
The other three were still flying to the fort!
“Ugh!”
“What’s this?”
Frustrated, Effir tried to turn around, but the explosion didn’t make it easy.
The power of the Mado Queen’s Magic Arrow didn’t decrease even after it was divided into four.
“If you want to use magic in a normal way, isn’t it common to have a variety of situations in mind?”
Genovia wore a fishy smile.
“Of course, I even expected that it would be blocked along the way.”
Leon Hart, Kibie, and Artis moved through the wall.
At that rate, not only the walls but also their allies would be swept away!
“Damn it!”
“Stop it!”
Assuming a stance, Leon Hart pulled Prana up.
-Spiritual Wall, Althea’s Curtain!
Kibie swung her long spear, extending her Aura forward.
-Aura Break!
Artis raised the Fire Dragon King’s staff high.
“Flame Overdrive!”
A thick spiritual barrier, a pitch-black Blade Aura, and columns of light flying in front of a huge fiery shroud wrapped around their position.
Three explosions occurred in the air.
Boom!
All three were strong enough to handle Genovia’s mega Magic Arrow.
The problem was…
“I told you, didn’t I?”
The third Magic Arrow that flew in split into 12 again!
“I figured those would be blocked as well.”
Even if they blocked the three missiles, there were still nine more.
The pillars of light, which hadn’t been stopped, beat the fort walls sequentially in an instant.
“It’s not a beetle horn fight, but what’s the point of the knowledge and wisdom that the ancients have built up if the unprepared one wins?”
A series of explosions broke out, and the entire front side of Fort Poltaron was blown away.
* * *
The eastern wall of Fort Poltaron was destroyed.
Watching the scene from afar, Garhan nodded.
“I checked the Aura of the incarnation. I’m sure she’s there.”
Genovia shrugged and replied, “They’re not reckless enough to set aside the incarnation of darkness in fighting a psychological loophole.”
A woman approached them and asked, “Shall we move?”
She was a black-haired beauty wearing an Anti-Polymorph Necklace.
As if she wanted to fight right away, her whole body was emitting a murderous spirit.
Genovia dissuaded her.
“Not yet, Manakiras.”
Genovia was a Mage, a believer in probability.
Based on her calculations, it wasn’t yet time for them to step up. Some people had to move first.
Garhan beckoned behind his back.
“It’s your turn.”
Four individuals stepped forward.
Middle-aged male Sylph, a pretty human in her 20s, young Elven and old Dwarven men.
There were different races and genders, but they had something in common.
They were all wearing silver necklaces around their necks, too.
* * *
The Mado Queen’s magic was powerful.
If it had been a single shot, it could have somehow gotten out of range, but nine shots were dropped into the entire wall simultaneously.
Casualties were reported among the relatively weak soldiers, as well as among the high-level knights involved.
“Ugh…”
“Phew, damn it…”
Led by Seira and Leslie, the Spiritist unit ran around frantically and performed healing arts.
“Preleu’s wind, come into my hands!”
“Sorondi, heal my patient!”
Meanwhile, Leon Hart, the strongest Spiritist, continued to aim for the enemy.
The real battle hadn’t even begun yet.
He couldn’t waste Prana.
“Everyone, to your position! Bring the wounded to the rear! Instead of the walls, build a defensive shield around the collapsed debris!”
By continuing to give orders, Leon Hart restored the disorganized ally camp.
Then, the enemy moved.
The Knights on Golem Steeds took the lead, followed by heavy infantry.
It was a traditional siege charge, encircled by the Mage unit and archers at the rear of the left and right flanks.
But there was also something unusual about them.
“Growl!”
In the center of their camp, four giant Dragons were running rampant.
‘Dragons showed up? That’s not really surprising, though…’
Despite being a winged race, they moved on foot.
It seemed funny at first glance, but it was a wise choice.
If they were among the troops, even Ryu Han-bin, who was on Effir, could not easily hit them and run away.
‘We have going to go in there and fight a rough battle with the army.’
If so, they had to prepare quickly.
Dragons were powerful enemies, but if they stuck to the ground, Han-bin’s party would be able to fight them enough with the army.
“Everyone, prepare for battle!”
Leon Hart encouraged allies with a shout.
Suddenly, the enemy stopped in the middle of their rush!
Soldiers split from side to side, revealing Dragons who opened their mouths in unison.
Vroom!
Air was sucked in. They roared.
‘Breath? At this timing?’
Leon Hart was embarrassed.
The distance was too far. It was a close call to the effective range of Breath.
Soon enough, an explosion shook heaven and earth.
Quaaaaaaaaaa!
Four lines of Breath were fired directly against the fort.
But it didn’t have much effect.
It was thanks to the immediate skill execution of Leon Hart and Artis.
-Spiritual Wall, Althea’s Curtain!
“Flame Overdrive!”
Their offensives were blocked by the spiritual barrier and the flame curtain.
Leon Hart’s face, which deployed a spiritual art, became stiffer and stiffer.
They couldn’t decipher it.
‘… What’s the trick?’
