Survive As The Brute's Wife-Chapter 173: Meeting The Monster
"It is time, Glarald," Alexandra looked at him. "Blow the horns!"
The Queen was not happy about the call for war. Neither were the advisors to the King. They wanted to investigate the disappearance of the Orb. And they appeared to be happy that the Orb is no longer in their home.
Alexandra and Iorhael watched the advisors discussing among themselves. Theodus and Ailwyn were standing on both sides of King Glarald. Theodus’s eyes met with Alexandra’s for a moment before he looked away.
Alexandra was about to say that she only needs hundreds of the elite soldiers of the Uileag forest. She didn’t want the bloodshed to happen and the elvish soldiers are trained in deescalating tensions. And she wanted those soldiers who use magic well to control the darkness.
"Are you not going to listen to the Great Father?" Iorhael shouted before Alexandra could speak. "Such insolence! Are you the kinsmen I once knew?"
He was so mad Alexandra’s words are not taken as orders and followed as such without delay.
Alexandra stopped Iorhael from speaking further. The last time she broke their trust and she cannot expect them to obey her words this time just because she says she regrets the past. The damage she caused in the past is insurmountable.
She does not need to be treated with reverence. Not when the fate of the world is in balance. She just needed proper negotiations to get the help she wants.
"I’ll go where you want me to go, Alexandra," Theodus stepped forward. Alexandra was touched and shocked. She didn’t think that THeodus would be the first one to step forward to aid her.
"I am following you, father," Ailwyn joined his father.
Freda walked to Theodus and held his hand. The expression on her face shouted that she does not want Theodus to leave her. And not when the King is not agreeing to participate in the war. She got her husband after a long, and now she didn’t want to lose him again. And her son is willing to follow his father blindly. It made her anxious.
Theodus nodded and with a tender smile patted her hand. Freda relaxed. When her husband looks at her like this, she knows that he has thought this through.
"You know who took the Orb, don’t you, Alexandra?" Theodus asked her, for all to hear.
"It was Arioch. We even have proof, right?" she turned to look at the messenger who came to inform of the theft of the Orb.
"We have his foot," he bowed to Alexandra and Iorhael.
"The council should know that Arioch is the reincarnation of Adonis Lukyan!" Theodus spoke for all to hear. "And, you have a plan, Alexandra?" he left the stage for Alexandra.
"Every moment we are wasting here, Inanis is close to getting released on this world. Do not think that staying hidden behind a spell would keep your Kingdom from getting eliminated. Darkness comes for all. I saw it." Alexandra spoke. Those were not words of hope. But this is what the elves needed to hear.
"I saw the destruction too. And there is one way to save the future of this world. There is one way to stop Inanis from destroying everything." Iorhael reaffirmed her point.
"Why did you let the Orb get stolen then?" one of the wise advisors asked.
"Well, some things have to happen for us to have the light return," Alexandra said. "That is the only way."
Iorhael held her hand. She has a lot of tough decisions to make. And they are not even sure if they are going to succeed. But they will have to try. That’s all they can do.
"Send us your elite soldiers who are well versed in spells. And we will need some to stop the desert tribes from annihilating the Lethusian soldiers." Iorhael said to Glarald.
King Glarald sat on his throne rubbing his forehead watching all the exchanges between his advisors and the others. He looked at his wife’s face, and she shook her head. He then averted his eyes and looked forward.
"We will listen to our elder," he said and stood up. "Deploy the troops. Aid the humans. And the elite soldiers will follow The Elder and the Great Father."
Alexandra let out a sigh of relief. Iorhael kept on mumbling as he was not happy he needs to beg them for what he is entitled to.
"Ungrateful imbeciles..." he mumbled. "I am never stepping foot inside this place that disrespects my Arimelda..."
Alexandra smiled. Iorhael is too loyal to her.
"I’ll go meet him for a moment," she whispered in his ears and he glared at Alexandra.
"You keep on looking at him, and forgetting the other important issues, Arimelda," he admonished her. "That’s how Darkness will set loose..."
"No, it won’t happen. I need to see his face before I..." She looked down. "It will be hard on me, Iorhael. You understand, right?"
"Eh, whatever..." Iorhael patted her back. "If I were with you you probably wouldn’t have fallen in love with a human and your father would have rested easy," he said.
"Well, if you stayed with me all the time, my father would have turned his attention towards you getting suspicious about your intents towards me," she chuckled.
"Ah!" Iorhael shivered and hugged himself. "I would rather die than fall prey to your father’s schemes. He is such a ... He should change..." he said.
Alexandra laughed. "Isn’t he braver than you? That day father kept on asking him if he will rule over me and he refused and told him to his face that he will not rule over me. He said he will treat me as his equal."
"I bet your father was not happy about that," Iorhael looked at her seriously.
"Yes," she giggled.
"But your father was right. He should rule you," Iorhael said.
"Why?" Alexandra asked.
"You two are not equal, Arimelda. And you two are different. He knows being a human better than you. Shouldn’t you be taking his advice and not the other way around? I think that was your father’s way of saying that he has accepted him into the family. But your husband refused the offer."
"Oh?" Alexandra didn’t understand Iorhael’s words quite well. She was not in the mood to analyze it as she was filled with other thoughts. She kept those words in her mind for her to analyze them in the future when she is free.
"Keep Marcus with you all the time. Protect him well, Iorhael. I love that boy," Alexandra left the hall.
"Kefir, find Ithildin!" she commanded and the next moment Kefir appeared, spreading his wings.
"Are you going to let Inanis be released?" Kefir asked. But then he looked at her and then smirked. "You’ve planned well, Arimelda. I applaud you," he said with a smile and soared to the skies.
Alexandra took a deep breath. She did lose the Orb with a purpose. But she wasn’t sure if it will work or not. Rather than thinking about the Orb, her mind was more worried about Maximus. She wanted to see with her eyes his true condition.
She didn’t want to kill him. She wanted to cure him. If there is another way available to her, she will do it, but there is none. She wanted to talk to him one last time to see if he could change his mind.
[Is revenge that important to you, Max? Can you back off?]

Arioch woke up and he was in the middle of the desert. He squinted his eyes as the first light of the day rose from the East making the entire place shimmer.
In front of him was a dune that stretched as far as his eyes could see. He looked at his leg which was hurt. The wound was sealed and the blood loss has been controlled.
He tried to locate the Raven but it was nowhere to be seen. He saw something shining beside him and that was the Orb. He immediately grabbed it and hugged it to his chest.
He felt so thirsty because of the blood loss. And he gulped and checked his waist for the leather water pouch he had. But it was missing. He looked around if he could find water.
But there was nothing around.
He heard some weird noise that was like the bellows of the furnace. Wondering what that is, he looked around.
He saw something blowing away the sand in the distance. Wondering if that is a geyser, he wanted to get closer. But he could see two big holes from the side of the dune from where the hot air was gushing out. And it was rhythmic.
And it was then he realized what that is.
The Rephilim!
This is the monster he needs to find to release Inanis.
"Oh, can you see it, Great One..." Arioch murmured to the Orb. He could see that tiny droplets of his saliva ended up on the Orb as he spoke.
He wiped them with his sleeves asking forgiveness for his disrespectful behavior.
It was then that he felt the whole place shake. The sand from the dune started to slide and fall, and a loud growl echoed in the place.
