Surviving The Beast World With My 'Sassy' System-Chapter 29: Flashy Upgrade
Lavayla didn’t reply as her eyes reluctantly left the points and went to the status screen.
Updated Status Screen
[Status Screen – Wild Genesis System]
Name: Lavayla Kingsley
Gender: Female
Status: Alive (Healthy)
Race: Human
Survival Rank: D-class (This rank indicates the host can survive only with minimal danger exposure and consistent protection from Beastmen~)
System Sync Level: 85% 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Current Points: 123,050 Points
After skimming through the details, she let out a low hum and told Nessa, ’My survival rank and system sync level has increased.’
’Yes, host~! Honestly, this is one of the fastest increases in those two that even I was surprised that you pulled it off!’
Lavayla snorted, but the system continued enthusiastically, ’Host, didn’t I tell you? As long as you complete missions, you’ll earn plenty of points. Not only did you accumulate a lot of points, but you also managed to increase your survivor rank. Even though it’s just by one level, it’s still something to be proud of! Going from unranked to D-rank is a significant achievement in just a few hours, and you’ve reached over 100,000 points now. You’re close to becoming rich!’
’I knew you were the right host because of our high compatibility. I also knew we would work together perfectly. And we did, host! I can clearly see the future of leading this Beastworld to prosperity!"
Lavayla rolled her eyes. "Yeah, shut up. I remember you once said that accumulating a lot of points doesn’t mean I’ve sacrificed my life. You mentioned that if I did and ended up dying, the points would go to waste. Well, I’m curious how I managed to rack up over 100,000 points. Care to remind me?" She paused, then clicked her tongue. "Oh! No need—I remember! I was almost killed by a crazy lion beastman. So yeah, I’ve got it now. Next time, don’t claim that earning points doesn’t involve danger because it fucking does.
The system hesitated for a few seconds before cautiously saying, ’B-but host... you’re alive right? And–’
’Yeah, I’m alive because I’m fucking lucky.’ She shifted her hold on the baby, brushing her fingertips in gentle circles across his small back.
’Yes, host! You are really great! But I still want to tell you that there are missions where you can get more than 50,000 points without endangering your life, really. But you will have to unlock them!’
’Right, whatever. I’m hungry, give me something to eat.’
’Host, you mean I should sell something to you? Here~’
The mall materialized again, but this time Lavayla’s breath hitched a little — not from awe, but from sheer disbelief. Compared to the barebones panels she’d seen before, this one glowed like a fully renovated department store in the middle of a digital festival.
’Alright, host~ So we have–’
Then Nessa gasped loudly. ’Oh my! I forgot about the new system features due to the increase in the sync level! Let me update it! Wait a minute, host!’
Before Lavayla could question it, the entire interface froze with a soft chime, shimmered in a ripple, then burst outward into a storm of golden particles. It looked like the mall had exploded into confetti fireworks — sparkles drifting around her like weightless embers.
She blinked slowly. ’Nessa... what did you do?’
’A little optimization~!’ the system sang. ’Since your sync level passed eighty percent, you have officially unlocked the full Wild Genesis Mall framework! Ta-daaa!’
Light surged through the mall, brightening every corner. The flat panels folded in on themselves, rearranging like moving puzzle pieces until a massive circular plaza unfurled — a floating bazaar suspended in a warm golden glow. Tiered arches rotated overhead, each labeled with neat, luminous headings.

Lavayla exhaled slowly. ’Oh, for fuck’s sake. You upgraded the UI?’
’Not just upgraded, host!’ Nessa sounded like she was bouncing on an invisible trampoline. ’I optimized, expanded, refurbished, and—’
’Nessa.’
’—beautified~’
The food plaza opened first, unfolding like a festival market. Lanterns bobbed gently overhead as if carried by a phantom breeze. Ribbons spiraled around the stalls, and tiny holographic fireworks burst into the shapes of dumplings, noodles, and sparkling fruit slices.
It was ridiculously cheerful.
’This looks... unnecessarily cheerful,’ she muttered, unimpressed.
’It’s festive!’ Nessa insisted. ’Food should be welcoming! Comforting! Like a warm hug, but edible!’
Rows of items arranged themselves beneath their floating signs: Provisions, Edibles, Perishables, Prepared Meals, Ready-to-Eat (RTE), Confectionery, F&B. Everything gleamed with a curated glow, displays rotating temptingly. The Prepared Meals carousel turned slowly, showing steaming bowls and plates she couldn’t smell but swore she somehow could.
’Host~ look, look! There’s even a tier system now!’ Nessa squealed. ’You have access to Tier One and part of Tier Two, because my host is soooo accomplished~’
As more rings expanded — showing silhouettes of locked scrolls, chained items, glowing bottles — Nessa’s voice dropped into awe. ’Those are Tier Three and Tier Four items. Locked for now. But one day—’
’Yeah, yeah.’ Lavayla flicked her wrist. ’One day when I’m not almost dying while babysitting a baby.’
’You’ll get there, host! And think about it—now your shopping experience is aesthetically pleasing!’
She narrowed her eyes at a banner that read:
"SPECIAL OFFERS SECTION!"
Curiosity prodded her, so she tapped it, and the panel flipped to reveal:

• Random stat snack bundles
Flash Sales
"Host~ don’t blink! Limited-time offer!"
Combo Bundles

Lavayla let her face go blank for a moment before silently closing every panel.
’Nessa.’
’...Yes, host?’
’Just show me the food before I uninstall your personality.’
’Right away!’ Nessa chimed, absolutely unbothered. ’Welcome to the new Wild Genesis Mall, upgraded for your convenience~!’
Lavayla sighed, stroking the baby’s small back. At least the meals looked edible — and honestly, kind of delicious.
Then, after far too much arguing over discounts the system insisted she didn’t need but she absolutely demanded on principle, she finally picked her meal, bought at 3,000 points after forcing Nessa to honor the accursed 30% discount, and completed the purchase.
A warm, fragrant tray materialized in her hands — a bowl of shimmering Healing Broth, which the system claimed was an extravagant Minestrone Soup containing up to twenty ingredients. It looked hearty and steaming.
Lavayla grinned as her mouth watered. She uncapped the fancy bottled water, took a small sip, then steadied the tray across her lap and picked up her spoon.
The bowl of broth in front of Lavayla had almost finished when the baby stirred, and she looked down at him, but he didn’t open his eyes, so she assumed it was just an unconscious twitch and resumed eating. A moment later, though, the baby shifted again, this time letting out a soft whimper as he rubbed his tiny face against her. She immediately dropped the spoon and scooped him into her arms, noticing how his small hands pushed clumsily at his eyes before he gave a muted little yawn that tugged an unconscious smile from her lips.
