Sweet Love 2x: Miss Ruthless CEO for our Superstar Uncle-Chapter 107: Within View
The morning was quiet.
Light filled the sitting room near the foyer, flattening the sense of time. It came through the tall windows, softened by sheer curtains, and spread evenly across the carpet and low table. The house was already in its routine—breakfast was finished, the children were upstairs with their tutor, and the staff was busy with their tasks.
Franz sat at one end of the sofa with his jacket folded beside him. He had his phone in hand but wasn’t using it. Gio stood by the console table against the wall, looking at a document on his tablet. A folder was open on the coffee table between them, showing its contents in a careful but messy arrangement.
"Send it through legal first," Franz said without looking up.
"It’s already queued," Gio replied.
Franz looked up.
"Before anyone else sees it?"
"Yes."
Arianne entered the room quietly. Gio finished his sentence and lowered the tablet. Franz looked up as she walked over.
"Good morning," she said.
"Morning," Franz answered.
Gio nodded in acknowledgment.
She walked across the room and sat in the chair across from the sofa, placing a thin portfolio on her lap. She quickly looked at the documents on the table before turning her attention back to Franz.
"Did production restart?"
"Yes."
"And the inspection?"
"Cleared."
Arianne watched him a moment.
"No delays?"
Franz shrugged. "Not that I know."
They moved on without pause.
Gio continued to scroll through his tablet and tapped once to save a note. Franz went back to his phone, his thumb gliding over the screen until the device turned off again.
The room returned to work.
Arianne noticed the way they spoke more than the words themselves. The exchange moved faster than usual. She opened her portfolio and looked over the morning brief without saying anything.
Franz checked his phone more often than usual over the next hour. Gio stepped away twice to take calls in the hallway and came back quickly each time. When he returned to the console table, he appeared composed but seemed slightly more focused.
When Arianne walked across the foyer to get a file from the nearby cabinet, she saw Gio and Franz standing by the fireplace. Gio held his phone between them, and Franz kept his gaze on the screen.
They didn’t react when she walked in. Gio finished his sentence.
"That’s traceable," Gio said.
Franz looked at the screen.
"How quickly?"
"Within hours."
Franz nodded once.
They both looked up as she came closer.
"Is everything set?" she asked, pointing to the phone.
"Yes," Franz answered.
She looked at them for a moment longer than needed. They didn’t shift as she watched. Gio put his phone back in his pocket. Franz stepped aside to let her reach the cabinet.
She took out the file she needed and left the room without saying anything. In the hallway, she paused. Not to listen—just to feel the shape of what she’d walked into. Something was moving. She didn’t know what yet. But she felt it.
Upstairs, Lily and Leo practiced their handwriting with their tutor’s help. The soft sound of pencil on paper occasionally drifted down the stairs.
By midday, Franz sat at the dining table to go over a revised shooting schedule from Daryll. Gio stayed nearby, switching between calls and reviewing documents.
When Arianne came back from her short call, she paused at the dining area entrance. Franz and Gio were talking quietly, not trying to hide what they were saying but discussing it in low voices.
"...that limits exposure," Gio said.
Franz nodded in agreement.
They finished their sentence before looking at her.
She stepped inside.
"Vendor confirmation arrived," she said, placing her phone on the table. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Gio quickly provided the needed details, his tone the same. The information was accurate. Timing right.
Franz moved his chair slightly to create space at the table.
At dinner that evening, the twins watched them closely. Lily sat straight, leaning slightly forward as if trying to measure distance with her gaze. Leo tapped slowly on his tablet and then turned the screen toward them.
HOLD HANDS.
He made the request clearly.
Franz briefly looked at Arianne. He didn’t question her; he just agreed. He reached out his hand across the table.
She placed her hand in his without hesitation.
Their palms met flat, firm and simple. Lily watched their hands like they were the only thing in the room. Leo didn’t look. He didn’t need to. He’d asked. They’d answered. That was enough.
The conversation flowed without interruption.
"The document review moved up," Gio said.
"To when?" Arianne asked.
"Tomorrow morning."
Franz looked up.
"Before the audit?"
"Yes."
After a few minutes, Franz pulled his hand back to grab his glass. Lily leaned in closer to Leo and quietly said something Arianne didn’t hear. Leo nodded.
Later, once the twins were taken upstairs and staff began clearing the dining room, Arianne walked through the sitting room on her way to the stairs. Franz and Gio were again by the fireplace, the lamp’s light creating a small pool around them.
Gio held his tablet instead of his phone this time. Franz stood a bit closer than before, leaning in slightly. They spoke quietly, close enough that the words stayed between them.
Arianne slowed as she came in.
Neither man jumped in surprise. Gio finished his sentence.
"...before it widens."
Franz gave a single nod.
They both turned to look at her.
"Long day?" she asked.
"Not particularly," Franz answered.
His reply was even.
She walked further into the room.
"You’re coordinating more," she said.
"Yes."
"With Gio."
Franz didn’t deny it.
"Yes."
He didn’t give more details.
She looked at him for a moment. His face showed no change. Calm, as she had come to expect.
She gently fastened his collar, a routine rather than a thoughtful act. The fabric shifted under her fingers. He remained in place.
"Then coordinate," she said quietly.
Franz watched her.
"We will."
Gio lowered his tablet slightly and looked between them before going back to the screen.
She walked past them toward the stairs without asking more questions.
Upstairs, the twins had left their bedroom doors partly open, even though they were told not to. As she walked by, she heard Lily say quietly,
"It’s working."
Leo replied softly, and Arianne heard the sound of keys tapping.
Arianne kept walking. She didn’t stop. But she heard it—"It’s working." The words stayed with her down the hall. They weren’t wrong. Something was working. She just didn’t know what yet.
From the upper landing, Arianne could see into the sitting room below. Franz and Gio were where she had left them, lamplight casting long shadows on the wall behind them. Franz briefly reached for the tablet, then handed it back. Gio nodded once.
It wasn’t secrecy. It was coordination.
From the landing, she watched them adjust position without speaking. The exchange was quicker than before. She adjusted her expectations without comment.
She did not go down the stairs.
Franz moved to the side to create a clearer view of the hallway. Gio spoke again and then put the tablet in his pocket.
They paused before heading to the foyer.
Arianne watched from the top of the stairs as the lamplight shifted across the polished floor. Their shadows stretched in front of them for a moment before blending into the light in the hall.
Upstairs, the twins’ door creaked softly as it closed further.
The sitting room below emptied, leaving the lamp on and the documents stacked on the coffee table. The house held its shape. The lamp stayed lit. The documents waited. Whatever was moving, it would move again tomorrow. She turned toward her room.
