Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 417: Lending a Hand
"I have a favor to ask, could you help me look into something," Moira Young said.
"What is it?"
"Can you find out if the rumors about me were leaked by those newspapers?"
"That’s easy, sure, no problem."
They chatted a bit more before hanging up.
Retreating back into her bed, staring at the ceiling, Moira Young closed her eyes. She wasn’t a plaything—Fiona Rhodes, just you wait.
Two days later, there was no news, but she received a video call from Joe.
"Are you back home?" Moira Young said, taking a bite of an apple.
Joe looked at Moira Young through the phone and exclaimed excitedly.
"Yeah, yeah, let me show you my hometown. It’s beautiful even in winter."
Moira Young looked at the video, with the distant snow-covered mountains, the creek frozen into ice, frost hanging from the branches, and she was filled with envy. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Joe, when are you going to take me to visit your home?"
"Haha, don’t worry Moira, as long as you’re willing to buy the ticket, you can come anytime." As he spoke, he saw Aiden Webb drift by in the background, and suddenly screamed.
"Professor Webb, Professor Webb, Professor Webb, Moira, let me see Professor Webb, the real Professor Webb."
Moira Young helplessly turned the phone toward Aiden Webb. This girl was starting to act like one of those fangirls online, calling him "Professor Webb" too.
"Bro, say hi to Joe."
Aiden Webb waved expressionlessly and then turned back to his small couch, holding an iPad to watch a movie.
"Ah, I’m so happy. Moira, does Professor Webb want another sister? I want to be one too."
Moira Young laughed, "It’s daytime now, not the time for dreaming. At night, all international heartthrobs are yours in your dreams."
Aiden Webb overheard and glanced mildly at the grinning girl, before lowering his eyes and continuing to read.
Can’t help it, she’s my sister, must spoil her.
"By the way, the stuff I left in the fridge, you guys need to eat it soon, then go to the supermarket to buy fresh ones. But it’s really cold lately, better to stay indoors as much as possible. I’ve left a note with the supermarket delivery number on the fridge, call them if you need anything."
"Got it, little housekeeper, we’ve almost finished everything. If needed, I’ll call."
"That’s good, I thought those ingredients were going to rot, didn’t expect my Moira to use them all up? Who cooked? Was it Professor Webb’s assistant?" In Joe’s impression, Moira Young didn’t even touch housework, let alone cooking.
As for Aiden Webb, such a lofty figure, especially hearing that he’d hurt his arm, it couldn’t have been him cooking either.
The only possibility left was Aiden Webb’s assistant!
Before Joe could smugly compliment himself, he saw Moira Young on the other end arch her eyebrows pridefully, raising her chin, "Of course not, I did it."
Joe was stunned and exclaimed, "No way, Moira, you couldn’t cook before, when did you secretly learn?"
"My brother taught me," Moira bragged.
Joe’s expression turned sour instantly as he heard her older brother calling from afar and complained, "Hmph, you’re not the only one with a brother, look, my brother’s calling me."
Saying this, she pouted again, "But Professor Webb can cook, that’s even more shocking than Moira being able to cook. Hard to imagine what such a cold god-like figure cooking would be like..."
Before she could finish, a snowball hit her, both of their eyes widened in shock. Moira Young was stunned hearing Joe’s brother’s wild laughter from the video, and Joe’s gradually furrowing expression, she burst into laughter.
"Bro, you’re dead."
Joe shouted in anger, and the screen went black.
Moira Young laughed so hard she fell on the couch, Aiden Webb shook his head lightly.
In the afternoon, they still went to the supermarket, bought a whole bunch of stuff, and carried it back together. This time, without needing Aiden Webb’s help, Moira Young cooked by herself.
Aiden Webb watched for a while, seeing nothing amiss, he went to the bedroom.
"Hey."
"How’s it going?"
Aiden Webb’s lips curled into a faintly cool smile, "Found her."
"Confirmed?" The person on the other side asked in disbelief.
Aiden nodded, looking out the window.
"That’s fantastic, where’s that girl now, what’s her name, wow that’s just fantastic," the person on the other end grew excited.
"Her name is Moira Young."
The other person gasped, then a moment of silence followed by a sigh, "Who would’ve thought, the person you were looking for has been by your side all along."
Aiden Webb suppressed the turbulence in his heart, leaving both ends speechless for a moment.
"Her, me, when can we meet, I want to meet her, now."
"There’s no way to meet her now, besides, she’s my sister, why are you so excited?"
"Why, have you told her, does she not want to, or is it because..." the person frowned and retorted, "what do you mean your sister? We grew up together; your sister is my sister too, you promised to give me your sister as a bride, are you taking it back now?"
"Marry her? Keep dreaming!" Aiden Webb scoffed coldly.
"How can you not keep your word? Seriously, why can’t she meet her now?"
Aiden Webb took a deep breath, "I haven’t told her I’m her brother, it breaks my heart, she’s suffered so much outside alone, now’s not the time, it needs more time."
"Aiden..." the person’s voice grew heavier on the phone.
"Don’t worry, I..." He trailed off, inadvertently glancing at the figure outside the door, hastily closing his mouth, "I’ll call you back later."
He hung up the phone, opened the door, and stared at Moira Young sticking out her tongue as she leaned on the wall, pretending casually, "Why didn’t you come in, did you hear everything."
Moira nodded, Aiden felt a rush of blood, his body trembling slightly, this wasn’t how he’d planned it.
Pulling her out of the bedroom, he spoke as they walked, "Sis, you’ve found your real sister, why aren’t you recognizing her?"
This statement made Aiden compose himself instantly, he exhaled slowly and softly said, "It’s not that I don’t want to, I’m scared."
They walked over to the dining table and sat down.
"Scared, why, if she knew her family had been looking for her, she’d surely be very happy." Moira said as she served soup for them both, calmly speaking.
"But what about you, would you be willing?"
Aiden asked, a bit anxious, subtly gripping the spoon.
Moira took a bite of food, chewed, and then said, "Bro, you can’t say it like that, everyone is different. If that girl knows her brother is you, she’ll be over the moon, I’d definitely be jealous by then."
Raising her head, pretending to be angry, she shifted the topic away from herself.
Aiden tasted bitterness in his mouth, "Don’t worry, you’ll always be my sister, nothing can take my affection away from you."
"Bro, you’re the best," Moira beamed at Aiden with a big smile on her face.
