Swordsman's Regression: Reawakened as a Necromancer-Chapter 101: New Title and Rewards
That was a lot of rewards.
And they were only for leveling up, Percival hadn’t even begun to collect the main rewards—the Aspect, the Swamp God Dragon’s loot, and the ultimate reward, the Basilisk Blade.
He had been rewarded a total of seventeen Skill Points alone, which brought his overall accumulation of the ability currency to 32.
⸢Skill Points: 32⸥
That was an absurd amount. Percival had never owned that amount of Skill currency in both lifetimes. He knew even with that, his choices were still limited to the Skills available to him at his present level.
He planned to buy as much as possible. Every single one available to him will be purchased, as long as they could serve one purpose or the other.
His other currency, mana coins, was an even crazier amount.
⸢Mana Coins: 53,000⸥
This time, however, he wasn’t completely overwhelmed by the number. In his last lifetime, he had owned mana coins in that amount. And even more.
The difference, however, was he had owned them when he had gotten into the higher levels: Beyond 140.
Owning them at Lvl 38 was an oddity. Although, he wasn’t just a Lvl 38 was he?
The Power Up was a bittersweet feeling. Though it was better for it to come now than not at all, he would have really preferred it if it had been granted to him when he was battling the cursed Frozen Ankylosaurus.
His theory had been correct. Power Ups came when an Awakener with a severely depleted HP manages to topple down a greater beast or threat.
With Blood Sacrifice cutting out of his Health bank and Mercius killing the Swamp God Dragon, the system must have decided that it was a fitting enough predicament to grant the Power Up.
Now, not only were all his Attributes and Wells full, but they had been expanded by the massive points increase he got from the Quadruple Level Up.
⸢Health: 28,050/28,050⸥
⸢Mana: 5,750/5,750⸥
⸢Defense: 2420⸥
⸢Attack: 6,020⸥
⸢Summon Space: 16/87⸥
He tightened his lips at the sight of his reduced Undead minions. One of the Bandit Brothers had been amongst the ones who had died.
It was a bitter taste to this otherwise satisfying victory.
His Mana, Attack and Defense had grown by double from what they were before he entered this Gate World. As a Necromancer, he already possessed more mana than his Lvl 150 Swordsman Class.
This was a true attestation to the difference in Talent.
Swordsmen naturally had a Special Talent, very few awakened advanced Talents that could push them into Legendary.
Necromancer on the other hand, held a Mythic Talent. The disparity in mana retention was incredibly vast.
Hence they depended on different things. Swordsmen depended on their skill and mastery of combat to close the gap. A Necromancer, like Mages, would widen the gap—literally—by depending on mana to cast long range attacks.
Percival didn’t have to worry about depending too much on either combat styles. He was both.
His eyes caught the First Kill Level Up.
He’d never seen anything like that before. But then again, he’d never leveled up four times at once.
It stated that whatever his next kill was, he would be rewarded a ×100 of the EXP gained. The goal was to get him into his next level or at least push him close enough.
Percival checked how much EXP was needed to get him into the next level.
⸢Experience: 213,500/240,499⸥
He accepted the information with a semi-nod. 27,000 EXP. This meant his next kill had to be at a minimum worth 270 EXP.
He wondered if he could go lower, considering that his Thresher title would naturally grant him more EXP, given that he killed the beast inside a Gate World.
But then he remembered. He had a new Title! 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
⸢The Undead Creditor: You are a true leader. You have avenged the tragic story of your Soul Soldier, and you have led your minions to victory. Truly, they are lucky to call you a leader. For this reason, each Undead pledged to your service pays tribute in magic itself."
⸢Aspect: Summoned Undead regenerates your mana instead of consuming it⸥.
That was... truly unbelievable.
It was one of the most overpowered Titles he’d ever seen. Which of the gods granted it to him? The same one that gave him the Transcendent Relic?
He wondered; if the god had given him the relic knowing he would use it, do they also know in this present timeline that he had regressed? That he had come from the future?
The thought plagued him for only a moment, before he pushed it away somewhere in his inner consciousness, and focused on the Title reward.
He selected it for details.
⸢Details: Your Undead are self-sustaining. While summoned, they feed your Mana Well instead of draining it. Each Undead restores 1/200 Mana Well per hour.
Upon killing a threat, Mana regeneration surges to 1/50, stacking briefly with each confirmed kill.⸥
Percival stared. Was this goodbye to all his mana scarcity problems? With ⸢Blood Sacrifice⸥ and this new Title, surely the only reason why he would ever run out of mana was if he had poor mana control.
He quickly equipped the Title.
⸢Title, Undead Creditor, has been equipped⸥
⸢Your Undead, Mercius Seagrave, is regenerating your mana⸥
Percival looked down at Mercius who gazed up at him, saying nothing. His blue eyes waited for a command, but also held a willing patience. If Percival left him here and returned in seven days, the Knight would still be waiting.
Loyal and patient.
"Get up, Mercius," Percival said.
The Brackenbutcher rose to his armored feet, steel creaking at the joints. Percival gazed at the lake.
"Dragons always carry a horde of loot and mana coins. Gather them all for me. I’ll claim the Aspect."
Mercius said nothing but nodded and headed to the lake. He walked over the dead Swamp God Dragon and reached the lake.
Suddenly, the water dried up and on the deep end of the chasm lay a moderate pile of gilded items. On top of the pile, like the Excalibur, was a black sword with a hilt like a curling snake.
The Basilisk Blade.
Mercius narrowed his eyes at the weapon and began his descent into the chasm.
Back where Percival stood, another message appeared before him.
⸢You killed the Swamp God Dragon⸥
⸢You have claimed the Aspect: Aspect of the Undying Lizard⸥
Like with the Crownless King, a scroll appeared before him, spreading out cinematically as it told the tale of lizards.
It narrated that lizards were the oldest animals, the oldest beasts, it attested to everything they had survived, it showed what they did to adapt, how they evolved from species to species while maintaining the same base: Lizard.
This Gate World was to test whether they could survive the only thing that had killed them in the past: Mortals.
Mortals and their damned blades.
They failed.
The scroll closed and a ding sang in Percival’s mind.
⸢Aspect of the Undying Lizard (A-Rank)⸥
⸢Aspect Description: They survived fire, rot, frost, and time itself. They shed kingdoms, climates, and ages. Only steel ended them—and even then, not easily.⸥
⸢Primary: When entering a hostile environment or encountering a new damage type, gain Primeval Adaptation for 25s. While active, gain +35% Resistance to environmental damage (heat, cold, poison, rot, pressure, corrosion), and take −20% damage from non-weapon sources.
Secondary: During Primeval Adaptation, Status Effects applied to you have their duration reduced by 50%, and repeated applications of the same Status Effect become progressively weaker.
Tertiary: If Health ≤ 45% while Primeval Adaptation is active, immediately cleanse all active debuffs and gain Adaptive Regeneration, restoring 2.5% Max Health per second for 6s. For the same duration, environmental damage is nullified.
Cooldown: 120s⸥
Percival read with a calm, yet excited mind. This was an extremely powerful and functional Aspect. Unlike the Aspect of the Briar King, it even had a Tertiary effect.
He could imagine things he could do with the Aspect. His battle in the Crucible of Frost and the Volcanic Stone Land would have been less gruesome.
Far less gruesome.
With impatience, he added the Aspect to his Aspect Chest and regarded Mercius who was returning with a handful of loot, and the other wielding a snake-hilt sword.
