System Awakening Era: I Have 10x Skill Effects-Chapter 6: Aamon Solo Adventure
"You’ll leave tomorrow. Everything you need will be prepared today," Robert said, closing the file on his desk.
"I’ll keep your mission a secret from everyone. Do you have a family? We’ll protect them for you," Robert added.
"My parents divorced when I was very young," Aamon explained. "I don’t know how my uncle is doing."
Robert nodded. The world was in chaos. People thought about themselves before thinking about others. It was natural for Aamon to worry about his uncle.
"Don’t worry. I’ll have my men look for your uncle," Robert replied.
He sat back down at his desk and looked at Aamon.
"You may go now, Aamon."
"Yes, Commander Robert."
After saying goodbye, Aamon stepped out and opened the door. Robert’s aide was still waiting outside with Natasha.
When Aamon walked out, the aide entered the office to receive further orders from Robert.
Aamon and Natasha walked together down the hallway of the headquarters building and headed outside.
"What did you talk about with Commander Robert, Aamon?" Natasha asked.
"He just asked me to wait until a new squad is formed after Awakening System Batch 2," Aamon explained.
"So for now, you won’t be going on any missions. Am I right?"
Aamon turned his head and nodded as he continued walking outside—until his steps were suddenly blocked by Ralph.
Ralph’s face looked stern and serious as he stared at Aamon with clear irritation.
"What?" Aamon asked.
"Fight me. Let’s prove who’s better for Nate!"
The young man blinked in surprise and instinctively looked at Natasha beside him. She looked just as shocked as Aamon and clearly rejected the idea of the match.
"It would be much better if you saved your energy for fighting those monsters, Leader Ralph," Natasha said firmly.
"This is important. If I can’t defeat Aamon, then I don’t deserve to hold the title of Squad Three Leader."
Aamon sighed and crossed his arms.
"You can keep that position. I don’t really need it."
"What did you say?"
Before their argument could continue, the sound of a siren echoed across the area, followed by the firm voice of a woman.
Through the announcement, the woman ordered all squads to prepare themselves. A wave of monster attacks had been detected targeting the military headquarters.
Ralph and Natasha heard the announcement and immediately ran toward the front yard, summoning their weapons.
Aamon was different. He didn’t belong to any squad anymore, so he had no reason to line up with them.
Commander Robert appeared and addressed everyone—17 squads had gathered, though not all of them.
The young people still weren’t used to the strict discipline and punctuality typical of the military.
Out of the total 68 elite members, only 48 had arrived on time. The other 20 were late for various reasons.
There was nothing Robert could do. They had been chosen based on ability, not discipline.
He informed all squads about the incoming monster waves from two directions—the south and the north.
Commander Robert asked them to assist the soldiers stationed behind the barricades to stop the monsters’ advance.
Silvie had joined one of the squads and looked shocked when she noticed Aamon.
"Aamon?" she called.
Aamon turned toward her, surprised.
"Silvie? Weren’t you going to become a medical volunteer?"
"Commander Robert rejected that. Instead, he asked me to become an elite member after I awakened my system."
"Forget that for now—you’re back! I thought you were dead," Silvie said.
"Looks like I was just lucky," Aamon replied.
While they were talking, Commander Robert’s aide called Silvie and asked her to take her position in the formation.
Silvie was surprised that only she was called, not Aamon.
All sixty-eight elite members had now gathered. They had already been assigned their squad tasks.
Without delay, they were sent straight to the front lines to fight the monsters.
Commander Robert returned, but his steps stopped when he saw Aamon standing near the front yard.
"Stay ready, Aamon. I’ll ask for your help if they fail," Robert said.
"Hmm."
Robert and his aide returned to the headquarters building. Aamon remained in the yard, watching the road ahead.
There, the elite squads began eliminating the monsters attacking the area. So far, they were doing well. There was nothing to worry about.
Some of them were injured—some lightly, some moderately—but they were handling the monsters well.
Eventually, the monster wave stopped. Everyone survived, though many were wounded.
They returned to rest, recovering their energy and healing their injuries.
Ralph and the members of Squad Three returned as well. They only had minor injuries from the fight.
Ralph’s arrogant gaze fell on Aamon, as if trying to show that he was far superior.
"While you were just standing there, all of us were risking our lives fighting them."
"I thought you were special. Apparently not," Ralph scoffed.
Aamon narrowed his eyes but didn’t feel provoked by Ralph’s words.
After all, Ralph might just be one of the millions who would die as time went on.
He walked along with the others. Natasha followed because she was required to heal the wounded with her magic.
"Looks like there’s nothing for me to worry about," Aamon said. "I should prepare to leave tomorrow."

The next day.
Early in the morning, while most people were still asleep, Aamon arrived at Commander Robert’s office.
No one saw him leave—not Natasha, nor Silvie.
The door was knocked softly and opened. Robert was there with his aide.
On the table were many cans of food prepared for Aamon’s expedition.
"Are you ready?" Robert asked.
"Yes."
Robert’s aide handed Aamon thirty cans of food—enough for one month. Aamon thanked her for it.
Robert opened the drawer of his desk and took out a satellite phone for Aamon to use later.
The phone only worked one way—it could only receive messages from Robert or send messages directly to him.
"If you find any information, you can report it to me immediately," Robert said.
"Alright."
Robert unfolded a large map of the United States, showing the area of Chicago marked with a red circle.
"The nearest city is Milwaukee. You can start investigating there."
Aamon nodded. He completely understood what he had to do.
After all, his real target was the All-Seven.
"What vehicle do you want? A motorcycle? Or a car?"
"A car isn’t very flexible. I’ll take a motorcycle," Aamon said.
Robert turned to his aide and asked her to prepare one of the best motorcycles available for Aamon.
She left the room, leaving only Robert and Aamon inside.
"I don’t know when this disaster will end," Robert said slowly. "But I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse."
"The monsters coming out of the portals will grow stronger. Rifle bullets won’t be able to pierce their skin anymore."
"The world may change. Humanity could face extinction."
Robert turned and stepped closer to Aamon, raising his hand to pat the young man’s shoulder.
"Grow stronger, Aamon. Kill those monsters. Save more people."
"I know you can do it."
Aamon exhaled and placed his hands on his hips, "Of course. I’ll do the job they themselves can’t do."
