System Awakening Era: I Have 10x Skill Effects-Chapter 8: First Humanity Faction
Aamon agreed. He walked alongside Lucy and the members of her group. Unlike Black Shade, their group was called Haven.
Their leader was Jonas, a middle-aged man who was 53 years old. Lucy was his second child.
Jonas was fortunate that he had managed to save his family when the Trial Planet disaster happened.
They traveled on foot, avoiding the city streets so Black Shade wouldn’t ambush them. Aamon went with them.
After about fifteen minutes of walking, they finally arrived at a large residential complex owned by a city official.
Jonas and the Haven group had turned that place into the center of their headquarters.
The gate was open. Jonas stepped inside, followed by Lucy, Aamon, and the other members of the group.
Aamon raised his head. Two people armed with bows were standing guard on top of the compound wall.
"Our goal is to save as many survivors in the city as possible and prevent Black Shade from expanding their power, while also helping the Army drive the monsters out of the city," Jonas explained.
"Yeah," Aamon said. "I can see your sincerity."
When Aamon entered, many tents had been set up in the front yard. People came out of their tents, looking at Jonas and the others who had just returned after picking up Lucy.
Their attention shifted to Aamon, a man wearing a distinct military uniform that was clearly different from theirs.
He still held his sword, a simple sign that Aamon was also one of the survivors.
The house door opened. A middle-aged woman ran over and hugged Lucy tightly. Relief was written all over her face.
"Thank goodness you’re alright."
A man stepped forward beside the woman. Aamon could guess they were Lucy’s family.
"Did you find any other survivors, Dad?" the man asked.
"No. Our goal wasn’t searching, it was rescuing Lucy," Jonas replied, turning to look at Aamon. "Fortunately, that man came and saved Lucy from the monster attack."
The man turned and smiled, feeling grateful to Aamon for saving his sister from danger.
"What’s your name?"
"Aamon."
"You can stay and become part of our group, Aamon," the man said. "There’s shelter, protection, and a place for you here."
Aamon smiled, thanking him for the offer. However, he emphasized again that he wouldn’t be staying long in Milwaukee.
"You’re not from this city?" the man asked, introducing himself as Albert.
"No. I’m from Chicago."
The atmosphere suddenly became noisy. Many people were surprised that Aamon came from Chicago. He became the first outsider in their group.
"Oh, Chicago? What’s the situation there?" Jonas asked curiously.
"Survivor groups haven’t formed yet. Everything is still controlled by the Army."
"That makes sense. The monster activity there must be much heavier than here. It would be extremely difficult and time-consuming to rescue survivors there," Albert added.
Jonas asked Lucy to take Aamon inside so he could rest. The man assumed Aamon’s goal was to go to the Army headquarters since he had arrived in the city wearing a soldier’s uniform.
He couldn’t force Aamon either, even though Jonas acknowledged his ability to kill monsters alone.
Lucy happily invited Aamon into their house. The two of them entered and sat on the sofa in the living room, and food was prepared for the young man.
"So, what exactly is your purpose for coming to Milwaukee?"
"About that... I can’t tell you. It’s related to my secret assignment from the Army," Aamon explained while drinking the water in his glass.
"Ah, you’re right. The Army probably has a plan to deal with this disaster, right?" Lucy asked.
Aamon fell silent.
He couldn’t answer that truthfully because in the future, the Army would be completely powerless in front of the survivor factions.
Maybe today they were superior because survivors were still weak.
But years from now, survivors would grow stronger, and at a certain level, they would even be able to withstand conventional rifle bullets.
"Yes," Aamon said. "They have a plan."
Lucy nodded. For her, she felt happy being able to interact with Aamon, someone who possessed knowledge that survivors desperately needed in this period.
She really hoped Aamon would join the Haven Faction, but no matter what, Lucy couldn’t force her wishes on him.
While the two of them were chatting casually, one of the group members rushed into the house and informed Lucy.
"The airdrop chests appeared again."
"Really?" Lucy asked.
The woman quickly stepped outside and looked up at the sky. Dozens of airdrop chests were being dropped from the sky at different times, not simultaneously.
Sometimes one airdrop would be separated from another by a significant time gap, around 10–30 minutes.
"What should we do?" the man asked.
"Form ten teams of three people. Go to every airdrop location!" Lucy said firmly.
"Alright."
Lucy turned to Aamon.
"Sorry, it looks like I have to leave you. I need to go with them to hunt those airdrops."
"Of course. Go ahead."
After the teams were formed, they immediately left the Haven compound.
Aamon did the same, but in his case, he would go alone.
He looked up at the sky, watching several airdrops falling near Haven’s territory. However, Aamon’s attention was fixed on the farthest airdrop.
He targeted that one so he wouldn’t run into members of the Haven group.
He summoned his sword again and ran into a city alley. He moved through the alleyways and city streets, crossing a bridge with his eyes fixed on the drifting airdrop.
Several spider monsters noticed Aamon’s movement. They began chasing him from behind, and the young man realized the monsters were targeting him.
"You guys really don’t know when to quit!"
He gripped his sword tightly, blue light igniting from it. He turned around and faced the two spider monsters targeting him.
[Sword Skill: 1000 Swords Movement]
Aamon activated his skill domain and ran forward toward the monsters. The moment they entered the domain, their attacks appeared slowed down in his eyes.
He launched attacks at both monsters, alternating between them. When the tenth strike landed, blue light burst from the monsters’ wounds and exploded.
The effect was impressive, especially since Aamon’s Attack Power and STR had increased with the help of his sword.
He defeated the two spider monsters in less than five minutes.
[Congratulations! You obtained drop items:]
[+50 EXP || +20 Contribution Points || +20 Coins || 2x Monster Core]
The fight ended.
Aamon continued moving through the city streets until he reached the edge of a river, where the airdrop lay on the riverbank.
No one had come to take it yet. Aamon was the first to arrive and claim it.
He extended his hand and touched the airdrop chest. A panel appeared in response to Aamon’s touch.
[Common-Tier Resources Airdrop Chest]
[1x Red Butterfly Gem || 1x Flame Stone || 5x Red Sapphire || 10x Monster Core]
Aamon clicked his tongue.
Crystals and gems weren’t bad. They could be used effectively to enhance weapon or equipment strength.
But in the current situation, gems and crystals were... practically useless.
Classes hadn’t formed yet, and the personal enhancement menu hadn’t opened either due to the survivors’ low levels.
I’m really unlucky.
Just as Aamon was feeling disappointed, a golden light suddenly appeared in the sky.
A rare airdrop chest that shocked everyone.
Aamon’s eyes widened, "That... a Rare-Tier Airdrop Chest?!"
