Jason was glad that the system was on his side for once, he didn't want any harm to come to these girls because he knew how vile men could be.

No rules were keeping their primal instincts in check so they were free to run wild as they pleased. Jason didn't know the history of these girls but he knew it took bravery to do what they did. They could have easily run into a far more dangerous man than him.

The girls looked panicked, even though they knew they were in trouble but there was nothing they could do right now.

"Fuck! He wasn't alone! I told you to only bring people that were alone, Lillian!" The older sister cussed out in a whisper but this was where they were mistaken.

"I did, Rachel!" Lillian responded in a hushed tone.

Rachel had the hammer raised, pointed in his direction in case he made any sudden move.

She looked at him and threatened to kill him if he made a sound, this was nonverbal because it was his voice that got them here in the first place.

He had no idea who these people were but he had a limited amount of time to help the girls.

He needed to get them to safety. Jason put his finger on his lips to shush them before gesturing for them to hide.

He didn't say a single word because he couldn't risk being heard, this would be bad.

The girls were skeptical but this was their best choice right now.

If they were with him then Jason had no reason to go through this length for them, he could easily call out to them but Rachel also noticed the worry in his eyes.

Those weren't the eyes of someone that wanted to do them harm and Jason also felt responsible because it was his voice that might have alerted them.

The girls decided to put their faith in this stranger but they feared he would not be enough to protect him. All they needed him to do was for Jason to delay them so they could slip away.

The girls had to be smart, they lacked the same physical strength as men so they had to use their brains. And they were the most in danger in this apocalypse as he knew what would happen if a dangerous man caught a lady in these times.

They hid under the bed and the moment that Jason was sure that they were hidden, he could hear the voices getting closer and closer.

"A FUCKING APOCALYPSE AND I'M ALL FUCKING ALONE!" Jason shouted, he knew that they were going to come here either way so changing the narrative was all he could do at this time.

It didn't take long before the door was broken through, the fact that they didn't even bother knocking showed their hostile intentions.

Jason looked right at the man that barged in, he was a pale-skinned man with a cleanly shaven head and a face tattoo. Jason wasn't judgemental but he knew that a face tattoo was only done by certain people.

"Hey boys, I think we found ourselves an easy picking!" The man barked and behind him came three more men. Jason was frightened, even with his passive skill active.

He was calm but the way his heart was beating felt like it would fly out of his chest at any moment. Jason didn't need to be told that these were real thugs and he knew they would hurt anyone without batting an eye.

"I thought I was the last person on earth!" Jason blurted out randomly and the men were quite shocked by this behaviour but it didn't matter, Jason felt a sharp pain in his jaw that sent him tumbling to the ground.

The man that had walked into the room punched Jason and the rest of them scattered to search the house for valuable stuff but Jason knew their search would be limited seeing as they weren't looking for a person.

Jason was dizzy and he wondered if he could take this man on if they fought and it was fortunate that he could check this.

"I could take this fucker! I'm certain!" Jason thought to himself despite having no fighting experience, Jason was feeling unnecessarily confident.

"Show me the stats of this man..." Jason muttered to himself and the system did just that.

"You know what? Scratch that," Jason quickly backed down but he knew he needed to create a sense of urgency because he didn't know what the men at the back might find.

Jason clenched his teeth and charged at the man to try and tackle him.

Despite the difference in size, Jason didn't have the strength to tackle him.

He dropped his body making it difficult for Jason to lift him, the man planted a firm elbow in the back of his neck and Jason buckled once more.

Jason knew he couldn't beat him physically but he could drive fear into his heart.

Jason bit into his ankle and the man proceeded to kick him square in the face.

"You fucking twat!" The man cussed out but Jason just started laughing with his mouth bloodied.

"What is so fucking funny!?" The man asked, he was furious as his tone carried that message soundly.

"I'm infected, you are going to turn!" Jason said and the angry look on the man's face turned to fear. On the verge of death will a man reveal his true character.

Jason knew that this was a risky play because nothing was stopping the man from killing him but he made a huge gamble.

"YOU LITTLE FUCKING SHIT!" The man cussed out and pulled out a gun.

Before Jason could say another word, a gunshot echoed.
