Chapter 1079: Then So Be It, War It Is! [Part 1]
Lucan had never felt more frustrated in his life than he did right now.
Everything should have been perfect.
He had successfully captured the succubus princess who possessed the Chandrean Royal Bloodline. All that had been left for him to do was stay in Velmusa City for a few days and play innocent to avoid Prince Aurelion’s suspicion.
The plan he made was followed to the dot. When he finally got to leave the city, he even felt smug at the thought of the Dragonkin Prince turning green if the latter were to know that the young lady he had been flipping the city to look for was actually inside the Artemian Research Facility.
Lucan had been looking forward to his return, already imagining how he could take things easy and focus on unlocking the secret to becoming a High Archon.
And yet, one thing led to another, and the grand plan he had envisioned collapsed before it even began.
Not only did the researchers vanish, but the young lady whom they had managed to retrieve was also not the real one.
He cursed the Shadow Wolf and its entire race for not waiting until the Jinns had returned to their city before showing its true appearance.
No.
It had even waited until Lucan returned Zia to Princess Aurelion before unveiling its true form and making several suggestive comments that led everyone to believe he had deliberately duped the Dragonkin Prince.
Seeing that the Artemian Army and the Jinns were murdering each other, Lucan cursed for the umpteenth time in his heart.
"Your Highness, let’s talk this out!" Lucan shouted as he defended against the Prince’s dangerous spear strike. "I admit that I was the one who had ordered Princess Zia’s kidnapping in the City of Velmusa.
"But someone managed to kidnap her from us. Shouldn’t we work together to get her back instead of fighting each other?!"
"Didn’t I tell you earlier?" Prince Aurelion replied coldly. "None of this would have happened if you didn’t touch my woman!"
The hate, anger, shame, and embarrassment the Dragonkin Prince had all risen on the surface, making him want to rip Lucan into countless pieces.
He was the mighty Dragonkin Prince.
The current ruler of the Jinn Alliance.
For someone to dare to defy him was unthinkable, and yet, Lucan did.
He challenged Prince Aurelion’s pride and authority, which now led to this all-out war between their two factions.
Jinns and Artemians alike were dying in droves with each passing minute.
The war was brutal, and both sides were going for the kill.
Still, it was very obvious that the Jinns had the upper hand in both quality and quantity.
Facing such a situation, Lucan no longer focused on defending and unleashed his trump card.
He slammed his fist over his chest, activating the ability that he only planned to use when his life was in danger.
It was an ability that boosted his strength to the peak of the Archon, only a step away from being a High-Archon.
The sudden explosive force pushed back Prince Aurelion’s attack, forcing the Dragonkin Prince to distance himself from Lucan, whose wings were now glowing in a silver light.
Lucan understood that the way to overcome this situation was to capture Prince Aurelion and use him as a hostage.
He believed that it was the only way to make the Jinns stop fighting and return to the negotiation table.
With a roar of fury, the Artemian Commander charged at the Dragonkin Prince and unleashed a barrage of powerful sword strikes, forcing Prince Aurelion to go on the defensive.
However, Lucan’s blows were much more powerful than before, and his speed had also increased drastically.
It was only a matter of time before Prince Aurelion got overwhelmed, followed by the Artemian Commander disarming him and grabbing him by the neck from behind.
"Tell them to stop!" Lucan ordered, as he held the struggling prince in a vice grip. "Or else, I will kill you!"
The Jinns saw the situation, and some of them actually stopped fighting, not knowing what to do.
However, the Commander of the Dragonkin Army, Commander Dravon, blew on his horn for battle.
"Continue to fight!" Commander Dravon ordered. "Kill!"
""Kill!""
The Dragonkin Army didn’t hesitate to follow their Commander’s order, who led a one-sided massacre, shocking Lucan, who thought that he already got the upper hand.
"Stop!" Lucan shouted. "I will really kill your prince if you don’t stop this madness!"
Suddenly, he heard Prince Aurelion’s chuckle, which made Lucan feel his heart turn cold.
"Even if you use me as a hostage, the Dragonkin will not stop," Prince Aurelion stated. "If I die, someone else will take my place. If that person dies, someone else will take their place. Foolish Artemian. Do you really think the Dragonkins will bow down to weakness?"
The Artemians prided themselves as a strong warrior race who had conquered the world of Chandrea.
That was an achievement worthy of respect and praise. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
However, the Dragonkins were built differently.
They had not only conquered one world.
They had conquered many worlds.
They were a true race of conquerors, and they wouldn’t back down just because their prince or their leader were captured.
As long as the order to charge was given, they would charge and bring as many enemies with them to the afterlife.
Besides, there would always be a ruler ready to replace Prince Aurelion if he ever died in battle.
It was none other than the Majin Princess who had come with him to cross over Pangea.
This was why Commander Dravon ignored Lucan’s threats and even pushed the army into resuming the killing frenzy.
Seeing that his attempt was useless, Lucan was once again faced with a tough situation.
Kill Prince Aurelion and forever become the enemy of the Jinns, or...
"What must I do for you to stop this war?" Lucan asked through gritted teeth.
"It’s really simple," Prince Aurelion replied. "All of you Artemians must bow down and become my subordinates. That is the only way for you to survive. No other method is permitted!"
Lucan glanced at the city, which was now surrounded by Jinns from all sides.
Even if the rest of the army were to escape underground, they would still be pursued by the Jinns down to the last man.
Faced with this choice, Lucan made a tough decision.
"Then so be it," Lucan growled. "War it is!"
Just as the Artemian Commander was about to rip off the Dragonkin’s head from his body, the prince was suddenly covered by a bright light.
A moment later, he disappeared completely, leaving Lucan only clutching through the air with a face filled with shock.
