Taking the Lustful Path: Starting with Sister-in-law-Chapter 14: The Village
Chapter 14: The Village
Liu Yizan could only last for thirty minutes performing the Earth Pulse Exercise.
Though his movements were steady and his focus unwavering, his body, unaccustomed to such deliberate physical activity, quickly tired.
This was his first experience with any kind of structured exercise, and he felt every muscle in his body protesting.
The only reason he could endure even that long was thanks to the endurance he had built over years of working the farmland.
From plowing fields to harvesting crops under the relentless sun, Liu Yizan had forged a body that could handle grueling physical labor.
That resilience allowed him to push through the stances and movements of the exercise.
Still, he knew this was only the beginning. 'I'll have to build up my stamina and get used to these postures. Gradually, I'll be able to sustain the exercise for longer periods,' he thought, wiping sweat from his brow.
After finishing the routine, his body drenched in sweat, Liu Yizan headed to the bathing area.
The cool water was refreshing against his heated skin, washing away the grime and tension built up during the exercise.
He dressed in fresh clothes and joined his mother and sister-in-law, who were busy with pottery work. Their deft hands moved skillfully as they molded the clay, shaping it into elegant vessels.
They exchanged lighthearted conversation, mostly about the day's chores and small anecdotes. Liu Yizan always cherished these moments, enjoying the warmth of his family's company.
But soon, as was his habit, he decided to head out to see what was happening in the village.
In this era, where cell phones and the internet didn't exist, villagers found entertainment in simple pleasures.
It was common for people to gather in one space, enjoying the natural air and engaging in casual chats about the weather or recent events.
The absence of modern distractions gave a unique charm to their interactions.
For those seeking more elaborate entertainment, options did exist but were rare in small villages like this one.
Novels, operas, and traveling storytellers provided a mix of truth and fabrication, weaving tales of far-off lands and fantastical adventures.
In larger towns or cities, inns hosted singers, circuses entertained with their daring acts, and arenas resounded with cheers for combatants.
Liu Yizan's village, however, with its modest population of 700 to 800 people, lacked such luxuries.
The close-knit community found joy in the simplicity of life, relying on nature and shared stories to fill their days.
Walking through the village, Liu Yizan observed familiar faces tending to their daily tasks or resting in the shade.
Children played in the dirt paths, their laughter carrying through the air.
The tranquility of village life, though humble, had its own charm, and Liu Yizan found a sense of peace in its rhythm.
But today, The usual tranquility of the village was shattered by a frantic shout echoing through the air. "Run, everyone! The bull has gone mad!"
Liu Yizan snapped his head in the direction of the commotion.
A man was sprinting toward him from afar, his face pale with fear as he yelled, "The bull has gone mad! Run, everyone!"
Behind the man, a large, muscular bull thundered forward, its nostrils flaring and a plow clanging noisily at its side. To make matters worse, another bull followed close behind, seemingly less agitated but determined to stick with the first.
'What's he doing plowing with bulls at this time of year?' Liu Yizan thought, puzzled.
The fields were already planted and in a waiting phase for the harvest. Yet, here was someone recklessly plowing, clearly paying the price for it now.
It didn't take much deduction to guess that the man being chased was the owner of the bulls.
Around them, villagers scrambled for safety, shouting warnings.
"Mad bull! Mad bull! Run away! Run away!" children shrieked, their small legs carrying them to safety faster than the adults.
Seeing the chaos, Liu Yizan frowned and made a quick decision.
He wasn't about to risk being tossed into the air by a rampaging animal. He sprinted toward the nearest house and knocked rapidly on the door.
The door opened to reveal Zen Yuxin, her face lighting up with a smile at the sight of him. "Oh, little Yizan! What brings you here?"
"Nothing much," Liu Yizan replied, catching his breath. "Just that a bull is in its rampaging state."
Zen Yuxin blinked, confused by his what she heard. "What—?" she tried to asked about what he meant, but her words were cut short by a distant shout, "Run away! Mad bull is coming!"

She leaned past Liu Yizan to see the chaos for herself. The sight of two bulls charging after the panicked man made her gasp, her eyes widening in alarm.
"What are you standing there for? Get in quickly!" she urged, her voice rising.
Liu Yizan shrugged nonchalantly. "I would've done that even without your permission."
"Yeah, yeah, stop talking and just get in!" she snapped, stepping aside.
He didn't need another invitation and slipped inside.
Zen Yuxin slammed the door shut and locked it securely. She exhaled deeply, steadying her nerves, only to notice that Liu Yizan had already moved to the nearby window. He had opened it slightly and was peering outside with evident curiosity.
Her tension eased at his calm demeanor. Shaking her head, she joined him at the window. "What's going on out there?" she asked, leaning beside him to take a look.
Together, they watched as the bulls barreled through the village streets, scattering people in every direction.
The man being chased screamed and darted around wildly, doing everything he could to stay ahead of the beasts.
Zen Yuxin bit her lip. "This is going to be a mess. I just hope no one gets hurt."
"I don't think that will happen," Liu Yizan replied, his eyes still fixed on the scene outside. "The guards must have heard that guy's loud shouts by now. They're probably on their way."
He watched as the frantic man darted behind a tree, trying to evade the rampaging bull, only for the animal to relentlessly charge after him, lowering its horns in frustration.
Zen Yuxin winced and turned away, unable to keep watching. "When will they come? Will that man even survive until they get here?"
As if answering her question, Liu Yizan spotted a group of men sprinting onto the scene.
Dressed in simple village attire, their muscular physiques stood out against the backdrop of the chaos.
Their speed was impressive—while not superhuman, they moved at least twice as fast as an ordinary villager.
"There they are," Liu Yizan muttered, pointing toward the approaching figures.
The group consisted of three men.
One immediately grabbed the rope attached to the calmer bull, which had been standing on the sidelines, seemingly unaffected by the commotion. The man led the docile bull to a nearby tree and secured it tightly.
Meanwhile, the other two headed toward the raging bull and the hapless man it was chasing.
The first man to reach the scene scooped up the exhausted farmer like a sack of grain and carried him away at incredible speed, leaving the bull momentarily confused.
The second man stepped directly into the bull's path, becoming its new target.
Unlike the farmer, who had been screaming in terror, this man stood his ground with unshakable calm. As the bull charged at him, he deftly sidestepped, baiting the animal into exhausting itself.
The man who had tied the calmer bull returned, joining his companion in their game of attrition with the rampaging beast.
They worked in tandem, dodging and provoking the bull, gradually wearing it down.
By the time the third man reappeared after dropping the farmer at a safe distance, the bull was visibly slowing.
It stumbled slightly with each turn, its breaths coming in labored huffs.
Now all three men worked together.
One of them lunged at the bull's neck from the side, staying in its blind spot and avoiding its horns.
With practiced precision, he grabbed one of its horns and forced its head downward.
As the bull attempted to counter, he placed his other hand on its muzzle and shoved upward, twisting the animal's head with such force that it toppled sideways.
The bull landed heavily on the ground with a loud thud.
The other two men immediately leaped onto the bull's stomach, pinning it in place.
The animal thrashed weakly but lacked the energy to resist.
Liu Yizan, watching from the window, let out a low whistle. "Impressive. They've got this under control."
Zen Yuxin peeked through the window again, her expression a mix of awe and relief. "That was incredible. I didn't know the guards were this skilled."
"They're not just guards," Liu Yizan said thoughtfully. "They're martial practitioners. They might not have advanced techniques, but their strength and experience are enough to handle situations like this."
Zen Yuxin nodded slowly, still watching as the men secured the bull with ropes, ensuring it wouldn't cause any more havoc. "Well, at least no one got seriously hurt."
"Yeah," Liu Yizan agreed, stepping back from the window. "But I'm sure this will be the talk of the village for weeks."
Zen Yuxin sighed, shaking her head. "And here I thought it was going to be a quiet day."
Liu Yizan chuckled softly. "In a village like ours, you never know when excitement will come charging in—sometimes quite literally."
