Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy-Chapter 168: Extras of the story
Chapter 168: Extras of the story
Miret left and the others returned to the shed to find Severin trembling on his seat, his face pale and blood slowly trickling from his mouth and ears.
His eyes were rolled into their sockets and his muscles rigid, a faint red aura covered him.
His team stood stunned for a while and then they rushed him. They checked him and found nothing unusual, no wound on his body.
They lay him to the ground and watched in horrified silence.
Did Miret do anything to him?
But there was no time to go after the man, and if they did go after him, what would they do?
Serena went outside first and made a dome of ashes and embers around the shed. Then the others focused their attention on him.
Ethan removed something from his spatial ring, a pill that he tossed into his mouth. They watched in grim silence as it was forced down Severin’s mouth.
And he stopped moving.
Everyone froze.
Then they turned to Ethan with casual slowness.
"Ethan? Did you just kill the House Leader of House Chains?" Julius adjusted his glasses, his hand shook and his eyes shone with cold light.
Ethan’s face showed absolute shock and fear as he stared with helpless disbelief. "I killed him?"
Derrick was caught between amusement and surprise. He took a step forward and then back, looking at the others. "What?"
Celia and Serena stared at each other and then at Ethan.
Just then, Severin jerked and began to breathe regularly again. His clenched face relaxed and his rigid muscles softened. The red aura around him was wiped away and he seemed to be as if he was sleeping.
Julius sighed. "What’s the pill you gave him? Let’s see."
Ethan’s face lit up and he scratched his head, then he brought out the bottle where the pill was taken from to read. "Oh! It’s supposed to do that! It’ll first knock out the patient and then start to work. Says here that it works for internal and mental health!"
Everyone relaxed and they watched Severin, who was lying there breathing gently.
Although they might not be thinking it at the same time, some may even have only thought of it later, but they realized then that it was the one time they’ve seen Severin so vulnerable.
They didn’t speak much after that, but they all stood watch over him throughout the night.

When Severin woke up, he found himself on the ground with the others around him, either leaning on the wall or sitting somewhere.
Severin watched them quietly and studied the mood in the room. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but it felt as if there was some sort of understanding among them.
Severin frowned. What the fuck type of emotion was he feeling? It made him uncomfortable and reminded him of the time when one of his neighbors, a boy, tried to make friends with him.
It ended badly.
It hit Severin then that he never had friends in his life. He looked at his team members again. ’..what the fuck happened...’
Then he sighed and analyzed what happened.
The backlash from the power he used was so much that he struggled with himself throughout his conversation with Miret, and immediately the man left, he couldn’t hold himself back anymore and fell.
It was as if his internal organs were scorched with fire, and then cut with a rough blade.
’...so this is the price I have to pay for using this power?...’ Even right then, Severin could feel the pain that was tearing through his body like bad razors.
’...for an Avatar of Pain... I’m feeling a lot of it... that’s why this power is rather complicated... I’m not immune to the pain and I’m not totally going to fall to it either... I’m feeling every inch of it...’
"You’re awake." A voice cut through his thoughts. Julius loomed over him and adjusted his glasses. "But you look like shit."
Severin managed a smile. "I feel like one too."
He struggled to his feet. His bones felt as if they were scrubbed with iron sponges and his flesh tight on him.
He sighed as he sat, enduring the pain easily.
His teammates surrounded him one and two until they all turned their faces on him.
Severin tensed. He could almost sense what was coming. "You want to know what is happening. Well, this is the power that I gained from Sector Delta. A Stigma. But it comes with a heavy backlash."
Julius frowned. "You should have told us before. This is a very dangerous thing. If we were fighting an opponent that’s even more than what we fought, then we would have been caught in a very difficult situation."
It was as if the others wanted to let Julius be their spokesman. They stayed silent and let him speak.
Severin stayed silent as well.
"And there’s another thing we must talk about, Severin. We trust you but it seems as if you do not trust us. We will follow you, but you must also tell us what we are following.
"We are not blind. Let us see what you are chasing after so we can chase it together. We came from the Academy to Isolde Dusk, all without knowing what’s happening.
"Head Instructor Darius Faulkner threatened you and... us. Even now we don’t know the enemies you are fighting, but have you forgotten? Your enemies are also our enemies. They could strike us down without us even knowing who we are fighting.
"Even a weapon must know where to strike," Julius said.
Severin blinked and then frowned.
He thought about what Julius said and thought about it logically. He looked from Derrick to Serena and Celia, then to Ethan and Julius, and something amusing came to his mind.
’..are they the extras of my story?..’
Extras. Those the world has forgotten.
’..I was an extra in the real world and even more so now before I fought my way out of chains... should I then cast the same chains on others?..’
