Chapter 19: His magic powers have awakened

"What did I just hear?" Andras slammed down the mug on the table and jumped to his feet. "What in tarnation is going on around here, what do you mean by you can’t wake him?"

"It seems like he drifted off to sleep in the tub. He is not snoring but this seems different from when he fainted earlier. His temperature has skyrocketed," added Malachi worriedly. "I tried to wake him but I got no response. I think he might have a fever or something."

"Did you take him out of the tub?" inquired Andras.

"No," whispered Malachi.

"Damnation!" Andras was already out of the common room and shoving past his ship mates to get to the stairs that led below deck.

Andras was moving at such a fast speed it made his eyes dazzle when Malachi blinked he was standing alone at the table.

Zagan and Fagan were already out the door fast on the heels of their master.

Three cabin boys crowded outside the door to Robin’s room hovering in fear.

Afraid to remain in the room after Malachi left for fear if anything went wrong the blame would be placed on them.

From the door frame Andras bellowed "Robin!"

Andras pushed past them and found Robin still lying in the tub, the water up to his neck.

The steam had long since dissipated and his head lolled back in a peculiar angle against the rim of the tub.

His eyes remained closed and the blush on Robin’s thin cheeks were long gone his skin began to shrivel as the water cooled.

When his name sounded from Andras’ lips he didn’t move a muscle.

Andras put his hands in the tub and shook Robin, water spilled over the sides of the tub and his clothes got wet but he couldn’t care less.

"Robin!"

He placed a finger under his nostrils, a telltale sign Robin was still breathing and amongst the living.

Yet each breath was painstakingly getting further and further apart.

Andras could see the pulse throbbing near his adam’s apple and yet Robin didn’t stir or flinch.

Why wouldn’t he wake up?

Andras started to panic, as a warrior he had seen similar cases on the battlefield where exhausted victims went into shock, overwhelmed they drifted away from reality.

Now was not the time for Robin to cross over to the other side; that thought made him even more frantic and his grasp tightened on Robin’s shoulders.

Without even thinking about the ramifications he sent a surge of his own demonic energy into Robin’s body.

Suddenly, the ship started rocking heavily as it battled against heavy, turbulent waves.

"Earthquake!"

Things that were not nailed down or tied started falling off of shelves.

Crew members struggled to hold on to any surface that could give them leverage and keep from getting tossed.

Slowly Robin’s labored breathing changed.

It had felt something he shouldn’t have and Robin’s body unused to the powers soaring through his veins started to react adversely.

After a while his breath returned to its steadiness.

His strand of hair stood on end and started to flutter as if moved by some unseen wind.

Shocked that Robin’s body temperature started to skyrocket rapidly again, Andras briefly let go.

That was all it took for Robin’s body to start levitating into the air.

Then his body started to oscillate and Robin seemed to be in severe pain as something broke out from his back.

Wings.

Delicate, translucent and shimmering majestically as Robin unconsciously caused them to spread wide open like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon.

A golden glow illuminated the room as golden dust fell from wings that were fluttering faster than the speed of a hummingbird.

Seeing Robin’s wings unveil itself for the first time was so magical and beyond anything Andras had ever encountered in his lifetime that he would be hard pressed to put it into words.

All this time he had thought Robin was a null, devoid of magic and it was what kept him safe from even more death threats and attacks from assassins.

He should have known better, as the son of Titania and an alleged angel, he was probably just a late bloomer and always had the potential to inherit from one or both of his parents.

Titania, as the former Queen of the faeries possessed various magical powers.

With the earthquake, Andras had already gotten a taste of one of Robin’s abilities, nature manipulation.

Just like his mother he would also be able to influence the seasons and weather.

He was gearing up to be a potential threat to Prince Elyan and a rival to the Faerie throne.

Now that his wings had appeared, the earthquake was also not natural; it heralded to the Summer Court that another from the royal bloodline had come into his magical powers.

It would only lead to more speculation as to who had the potential to become one of the most powerful fae in all of the Faerie realm.

Andras’ jaw dropped.

Robin’s eyes still remained closed and it was clear he had no conception what was occurring with his own body.

Thankfully Zagan and Fagan crowded the door with Malachi hovering at the back so none of the ordinary crew members would be able to know or see what just occurred inside the room.

"Is he going to be okay?" asked Zagan.

Surprisingly it was Fagan who answered his brother, "isn’t it obvious. His magic powers have awakened."

He called out, "Robin!" but still this person didn’t wake up, the continuous calling finally reached Robin as his eyes fluttered open.

When Robin realized he was no longer on solid ground but floating in the air he panicked.

The feeling that shouldn’t be felt occurred when he saw Andras’ face and he started to fall from nearing the ceiling down to the ground.

After Robin opened his eyes the wings disappeared and there were no scars on his back or anything to show that wings were once there.

In that area of the back Robin had an itch he wanted to scratch but he didn’t know the reason behind the pain or irritation in that area.

"Robin, are you alright? Please say something."

His long eyelashes fluttered revealing those luminous green orbs glowed before returning to normal.

"Andras, what would you like me to say," asked Robin softly.

Relief tore through Andras so much that he almost wanted to cry, almost.

"That’s enough from you. Let’s get you dry before you seriously catch a cold. Malachi fetch me a towel."

Robin blushed as he realized he was completely naked in front of the men.

"Should I be turning my back,?" asked Fagan, amused by Robin’s natural shyness.

It was Malachi who answered, "It seems that Robin will be fine so all of you get out right now. I need to feed Robin and get him dressed for the wedding. The vicar is impatiently waiting to perform the ceremony like Queen Tiandra ordered and we are already behind schedule. That includes you master! Get out now!"
