Tangled Hearts - The Alpha's Baby Mama-Chapter 46: Was the lingerie on purpose?
Chapter 46: Was the lingerie on purpose?
Selene POV
"Shit!" I froze as my eyes widened and colour drained from my face.
"Selene!" Noah called out again walking into the bedroom.
I felt a lump in my throat as my heart raced, and I turned to look at Xavier nervously. He didn’t seem perturbed. If anything, he was still fumbling for me. Pushing him away from him, I grabbed the first cloth I saw and slipped it on.
"What are you doing?" Xavier turned to me with annoyance.
"We cannot let him find us like this," I whispered hoping my voice was not loud.
"Why?" Xavier said adamantly "You’re my wife,".
"We’ve been through this, Xavier," I said with gritted teeth "Put on some clothes and make yourself invisible. I’m going to go out there, make sure you don’t make a noise,".
"That’s bullshit!" he exploded as anger flashed in his eyes "You know..."
I heard footsteps coming towards the closet and without thinking, I shoved Xavier into the small washroom there throwing his clothes inside with him. I had barely closed the door when the door to the closet opened and Noah stood at the door.
"Selene!" he had a worried look on his face "Are you alright? I’ve been calling out your name, didn’t you hear me,".
"Oh!" I swallowed hard, trying not to feel guilty as I left the door and went towards him "I was just lost in thoughts. W-Why are you here?" I asked.
"I came here to say I’m sorry," he sighed and reached for my hand "I hate it when we fight and I shouldn’t have spoken to you the way I did. I’m truly sorry,".
Guilt washed through me, clouding my face as I stared at the sincerity in the eyes of the man standing in front of me. It killed me that I was doing this with him.
"Selene?" He called out my name looking at me strangely. I had slipped into daydreaming again.
"I’m sorry too," I said quietly "And I’ll be better, Noah. I can’t promise you a lot of things but I promise to be better. I swear,".
"Yeah," he nodded and then his eyes strayed from my face to my body and I saw him pause as desire flashed through his eyes. "Y-You’re naked?"
"What? No!" I exclaimed with horror as I stared at the see-through blue lingerie I had slipped on. I hadn’t noticed that it was that transparent "I was just looking for an outfit for date night. You remember right? Xavier is taking me and the kids out,".
"And you want to get dressed up for him like this?" Noah questioned, his voice oozing with jealousy.
"Of course not!" I shook my head rapidly "Why would you even think that?"
"Okay," he nodded as his eyes kept alternating between my body and face "The run...did he tell you about it?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded but I’m not sure,".
"It’s nothing, I’ll be running too with the pack. A few of my trusted soldiers would arrive tomorrow morning with a new private plane for us. We’ll be on our way the next day after the run; right?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Okay," he nodded again as his eyes strayed to my exposed body "C-Can I kiss you though?" he suddenly asked catching me off-guard.
My eyes strayed uncomfortably to the door that had Xavier behind it. What if he gets angry and jumps out? With Xavier everything was unpredictable.
I nodded my head and drew close to him, hoping I could steer him away from the closet into the bedroom but he started towards me first until I was backed against the counter in the middle of the room.
Trapping me in between his heat, his mouth descended on my lips eagerly. I had a bird’ eye view of the washroom I had stored Xavier inside. The door opened slightly and Xavier poked his head outside. Our gaze met and I saw how angry he was.
Giving him an apologetic stare, I tried to extricate myself from Noah who was running his hand all over my body, moaning and panting. Managing to pull away from him, I gave him a wide grin.
"The girls will be back soonest, I best get dressed,".
"Okay," he nodded running a hand through his hair.
I also noticed the bulge in front of him but I didn’t say anything. He gave me one final smile before he left. I saw him to the door, locking it after him. When I returned to the closet, I met Xavier, half-dressed and leaning casually on the counter. He straightened as soon as he saw me.
"Really?" he scoffed "You had to kiss him with me a few meters away from me. Are you two-timing?"
"Don’t be ridiculous, Xavier," I reached for a robe and covered my body "It’s not like I had a lot of choices. He was all over me,".
"My uncle is lusting after you and you were aiding him. Was the lingerie on purpose?"
"Not now, please," I sighed picking up the dress I wanted to wear for the dinner date "You should start getting dressed too. We don’t have all the time plus you’ll need to help me dress the girls up,".
I removed the robe and let the lingerie I had it pool at my feet. Feeling my body tingle with the aftermath of both Noah and Xavier, I slipped into black matching panties and a bra. Xavier was watching me and it didn’t help either.
"What was the apology all about?" he asked "Why did you guys fight?"
"It’s none of your business," I said coldly slipping into the black short sequined gown I had selected for the night.
"Sounded pretty intense," he shrugged "So, you’ll come with us to the run, right?" he asked again.
"Yeah," I nodded "But I’ll run alongside Noah," I said sparing him a triumphant glance.
"You can’t run with Noah, Selene," He folded his hands and stared at me.
"Why not?" I threw back "He’s my fiancée and...".
"Do you intend to mate with him later on?" he stopped me mid-sentence "It seems you’re not conversant with how things work in our world. If you run alongside a male werewolf during a full moon, pheromones would be released and automatically you’ll feel drawn to the person and sex will happen,".
In reality, this would be my first run with a pack since I was born. Back then, I had been too weak to run with Xavier every full moon. So, I didn’t know there were rules too.
"Well," I shrugged "I guess I’ll have to run on my own,".
"You can’t do that unless you’re an Alpha or Beta," he said calmly "And I’m not talking of being born with Alpha blood. Even Lycans cannot run alone... the privilege is reserved only for Alphas and Betas,".
That would explain why Noah always remained back at the pack house whenever it was time for the full moon run and here, I was thinking it was because he was very considerate.
"Don’t bug me with all of this unnecessary information," I sighed wearing the diamond stud earrings I had picked with a matching necklace pendant.
"I do hope you can still remember that we have a signed pact still ongoing. So, naturally, she should run alongside me,".
I didn’t say anything, I kept staring at the mirror as I fixed my hair. Seeing that I was no longer speaking, he murmured something about going to get dressed and left me alone.
When he was finally gone, I took in deep restorative breaths as I left the closet to the bedroom and then sprawled on it waiting for the girls to come back. A while later, the door opened and the girls ran in with Lucius following closely behind them.
"Dad’ Maeve ran immediately to the closet.
"He’s not there," I said quietly watching as she ran out of the closet and out of the room ignoring me.
"She’s still not talking to you?" Lucius asked giving me an amused smile.
"At this point, I’ve decided to let her be and hope she’ll come around eventually,".
"Just like her father," he snorted as his eyes gleamed with amusement "Vina reminds me of you more but Maeve sulks like Xavier. Honestly... you should be glad that there’s only one of her,".
"She wasn’t always like this," I sighed "If nothing she was quieter and more mature but since she came here... I can hardly recognize my child,".
"She just needs her father," he said quietly looking directly into my eyes "And this is not me trying to come in between you and the kids or advise you but I feel she’ll thrive more if she stays around him,".
"But she’s been doing so much better before here," I sighed.
"Only she has a lot of anger buried in her heart and now that she can finally find people who dote on her... she’s acting up, seeking attention from all corners,".
Something crossed my mind and I decided to ask him at once.
"Anyways, did you go out to the mall this afternoon?" I watched him closely.
"Nope," he shook his head "I can’t remember the last time I was there too. There’s just so much to do and little luxury to hang out. I hope the pack runs well soon,".
"That means Xavier didn’t meet up with Belinda today?" I murmured loud enough for Lucius to hear me.
"She wouldn’t dare," his eyes flashed with anger.
