The Academy's Time Looper-Chapter 62: A New Day
Going from waking on some random street and being barely able to view the sky due to mass amounts of smoke to this...was simply unbelievable.
The entire vast light-blue color was laid out for him to see, and the scent of freshly cooked food flooded his nostrils.
His back no longer ached when he woke up.
He could sleep through the whole night without being woken up by any drunkards or random beggars.
He could sleep calmly and well without the worry that he would robbed or kidnapped and sold off into trafficking.
He could sleep without worrying about how he was going to feed himself tomorrow.
And...he could dream.
Back in his hometown, all his desires to be rich and learn magic were so far away, but now they were right in front of him...within arms’ reach.
It was as if he had received a second chance at life.
Shaking his head, Athen smiled and sat up, leaning against the pillow while staring out the massive window to his right.
"I’m a regressor, aren’t I? What is this...my thousandth chance at life?"
Although being a regressor was a massive deal, Athen didn’t pay much attention to it for now...as it really didn’t affect his current life besides the appearances of Alice and Delphi.
Of course, the terrible and horrific scenery of the worlds he had seen back in the pitch-black void haunted him from time to time.
How could it not?
He had quite literally seen mountains of corpses piled up, rivers of pure crimson blood, a world without color, and a massive war camp that seemed to be taking on the world.
Athen was still rather confused about the circumstances of those worlds.
Were there possible outcomes...or real outcomes?
Had those been visions of the future he had seen...or memories...memories of his past selves?
The people Athen had possessed in the pitch-black void weren’t just random people...they were old or possibly new versions of himself.
If he was truly a regressor...then what had happened to his memories of past loops?
Why couldn’t he remember anything about the "Aktaio" person or the old version of himself he had possessed!?
And...why had his past selves decided to regress?
Athen had already technically regressed once back on the cruise ship, and to do it, he had to activate his time-stopping ability.
His past selves hadn’t been forced to regress then...they had chosen to by activating their time-stopping ability.
Was it because...the world had ended out like things he had seen in the pitch-black void?
Shaking his head, Athen cleared his mind and sighed.
Right now, he was in the present.
That was all that mattered.
His primary goal was to pass the academy entrance exam, and from there, he could figure things out.
Pausing mid-though, Athen watched as a cloud of marshmallow-like clouds slowly drifted across the sky, momentarily blocking his window before disappearing off to the right.
It was all...so surreal to Athen.
Like a dream...a dream he didn’t want to wake up from.
Hearing the sound of footsteps below, Athen leaned off the edge of the bed and peered down into the living room, spotting Kai sitting down with a plate of eggs and a glass of tea.
And...he had company.
No longer was he alone.
Sliding off the bed, Athen carefully climbed the ladder down from the loft and sat on a nearby couch.
Watching Kai eagerly devour his plate of bacon and eggs, he questioned.
"Any plans for today?"
Not at all surprised by Athen’s sudden appearance beside him, Kai simply nodded his head and replied.
"I’ll probably rest for a bit, then go check out the plaza and scout out some professor’s test. I have thirteen days left, so there’s no rush."
Standing up and walking to the kitchen, Athen smiled and said, as he passed by Kai.
"Let me know if you need any help...after all, I’ve already obtained a professor’s approval."
At that moment, Kai seemed to notice the shining golden ring on Athen’s right hand.
Alternating gazes between the golden ring and Athen’s back, Kai’s eyes seemed to sparkle as he asked.
"Did you get that ring as a reward? Wait, how did YOU pass a professor’ t-... never mind, just tell me which professor you beat for the approval!"
Hearing Kai’s tone suddenly go from bored to excited, Athen paused for a moment while filling up a plate of scrambled eggs.
At that moment, as the image of Professor Caldris’s figure crossed his mind, an idea suddenly appeared in Athen’s head.
That professor clearly didn’t want to work...so Athen...he was going to send Caldris the strongest students he could find.
However, pausing before he spoke, Athen considered whether or not Kai could pass the test.
The test was already close to impossible, and knowing Professor Caldris...the damned teacher had probably made it harder after passing Athen to prevent any other students from gaining approval.
Walking back with a plate of eggs and a couple of pieces of greasy bacon, Athen replied to Kai’s attentive gaze.
"His name is Professor Caldris, and you’ll find him on the top-right of a plaza in a rather secluded area. Though, I’d recommend you scout for a bit before choosing a challenge."
However, it seemed like the latter half of Athen’s words were completely ignored as Kai immediately stood up, leaving his half-finished plate of food behind.
Wearing a collared shirt with a nametag that read, "Ren," Kai simply waved before walking out of the dorm room.
Relishing the salty and smoky flavor of the bacon that Kai had made, Athen stared out the window and muttered.
"What am I supposed to do now?"
...
...
...
A couple of minutes later, Athen could be seen walking out of his dorm room and towards the magical elevator of the building.
With no briefcase in hand, he stepped into one of the magical circles, immediately feeling his surroundings shift as a downpour of noise entered his ears.
They looked so...happy and excited.
As he stared at the jolly and relaxed students sitting down and talking, a sudden thought crossed his mind.
"What if I joined them...just for a day?"
After all, he couldn’t yet use his time-stopping ability due to the cooldown period he had implemented on himself, and his mana was probably still depleted.
And...he had left his crossbow all the way up in his room.
Throwing all thoughts of training out the window, Athen merrily walked towards the sitting area of the dorm, where over a hundred students were chatting.
