The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 218: A Second Potion ()
"Two for the price of one...it seems Imain has done me a favour instead. I should have known to be grateful...too bad he no longer lives and I cannot offer my thanks." Morden muttered.
"Will My King listen to my request now?" Caedmon asked.
Morden smirked slightly and leaned back into his chair, nodding his head,he gestured for Caedmon to speak.
"The potion that forged the mate bond between Zariah and I, I have never seen anything as potent and outstanding as it. It is the exact replica of the true mate bond...even I cannot easily tell the difference, and Alpha Zariah is completely none the wiser, even pushing King Askel away to give me a fair chance." Caedmon said in awe.
"Alpha Zariah’s identity as a hybrid also worked in my favour in convincing Lords Kodin and Melven, now I have no more hindrance to completing the bond with Alpha Zariah, but Askel."
"Askel will never let Alpha Zariah go, not even if she chooses me at the end of the month. He will definitely pose a challenge to the death to reclaim Alpha Zariah, he has also constantly interfered this month despite being asked not to... the only way I can be certain of success is if Askel is out of the picture." Caedmon reported in distaste.
"You know clearly we cannot kill Askel just yet, so what is it you want exactly?" Morden asked.
"If My King can give me another potion, one that severs the mate bond as surely as a rejection would..." Caedmon trailed off as Morden’s expression changed.
"I understand the potion requires extreme ingredients that My King finds difficult to part with, but I promise you, it will be worth it. If the potion is also used on King Askel unknown to him, he would never be able to tell how it happened..."
"The mate bond losing its power at this time when King Askel’s credibility is under question will make it even more difficult for Zariah to accept King Askel, and especially if there is someone else the Royal Lycan elders and Queen Sancia support to be the new Queen,
"Unlike Alpha Zariah whom they dislike, it will stir internal discord and cause them both to drift apart even more." Caedmon said meaningfully.
"The farther apart Askel and Alpha Zariah are, the higher my chances become. In doing so, My King will make Askel lose his true mate and equally recover both shards of the eye of chaos with ease... equally, the shard rumoured to be in the Crimson Moon territory will be much easier to recover also." Caedmon said.
Morden was quiet for a moment, seeming to ponder over Caedmon’s words.
"The potion to manipulate the mate bond requires the life blood of an earth witch as a main ingredient... other than myself, there are only a few others of that left...my mother’s sisters. The old witches adore me, they have no idea. I have already killed one... I can afford to kill another." Morden murmured with a shrug.
Caedmon released a breath he did not even realise he was holding. Despite his sigh of relief, Caedmon still felt a cold chill of terror run down his spine at Morden’s words...
Earth witches were rare and powerful, there were only about four of them still living. Morden had sacrificed one for the first potion, and now he was willing to sacrifice another... even when all four witches were blindly loyal to him because of their ties to his mother.
Yet Morden seemed to have no reluctance to bring an end to their life for just a few drops of blood, it made Caedmon wonder if those witches who were practically family to Morden were so easily dispensable? How much more Caedmon himself?
Caedmon knew it was hypocritical to think so, he had just made the request for the potion himself, otherwise Morden had not intended for that.
However, Caedmon had come with the expectation that Morden would reject him or would require at least much convincing, but it had not taken much at all, just a report of Morden’s benefits and Morden was all for the idea...did he not realise that it meant the life of one who had been loyal to him for so long was forfeit?
There was no remorse or lingering thought, Morden did not seem to even think too much of it. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Is that all? Once you have the potion in hand, your success is assured?" Morden asked Caedmon to be sure.
"So long as Askel is derived of the mate bond, Alpha Zariah will not find him worth holding onto."
"Not long after, when My King ensures the failure of the peace accord, I will convince Alpha Zariah to return to the Crimson Moon with me and the shard of the eye of chaos in the Ethereal Palace will be left to you for the taking, My King."
"As for the shard in Alpha Zariah’s possession and that in the Crimson Moon territory, I will recover both with ease...all that matters is fully gaining Alpha Zariah’s trust." Caedmon assured.
Morden pursed his lips, thinking over Caedmon’s words for a short time before he nodded.
"The seed of discord is already sown amongst the Ethereal Alphas, the peace accord cannot hold when the center for the accord itself is in disorder and the disorder will only grow stronger, calling for a change in leadership..."
"Alpha Zariah was the only variable to my plan, if Alpha Zariah is taken out of the picture, Askel is left vulnerable, this is indeed an appropriate time." Morden murmured.
"It will take a few days at least to get it done. You will have to wait and not return to the Ethereal domain, otherwise if you have to return here to retrieve it again, it will draw suspicions your way." Morden said to Caedmon.
"I understand. Shall I do it so you do not have to?" Caedmon offered, referring to killing the earth witch.
Morden lifted a confused glance to Caedmon, clearly not appreciating the sentiments.
"Just one old witch? Why would I need you to do that for me?" Morden asked blankly.
"Because..." Caedmon began to say but he trailed off.
’Because she also raised you...’ Caedmon completed within his mind, another chill of terror running down his spine.
