Chapter 234: Doubts (Ch.234)

Vivienne walked into her home, her mind still reeling with thoughts and she did not take notice of Elder Jared who stood at the top of the staircase, staring down at her.

"I see you have made up your mind then?" Elder Jared asked,

His voice startled Vivienne and she jumped, her eyes wide and panicked. Noticing her father’s presence, Vivienne was quick to hide away the vial she held in her hand before he would take notice of the strange item.

"I do not know what you mean. I will never be willing to return with Kirk, not after everything I have been through. And to think that you would ever contemplate sending me away after swearing to me you would make him pay for hurting me, only goes to show just how little trust I can place in you."

"If everyone else could easily cast me aside, my own father should have my back...you should be on my side..." Vivienne’s tone was exhausted but she made her stance clear. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"I am your father and I am an elder of the Royal Lycan pack! My duties to King Askel are equally of importance! You should have thought of that before jumping in the middle of a situation bigger than you can comprehend! Did you consider me when you ignored my advice?! Did I not warn you not to be deceived by Her Grace?!"

"That she would only look out for her own best interest?! But you never listen! If I do not send you away and Alpha Zariah seeks you out again, do you think you will live?!" Elder Jared snarled.

Vivienne winced visibly, it was rare for her father to ever raise his voice at her and so Vivienne was not certain how to react to it, she could only tremble in place, tears welling up in her eyes.

Regretting his actions almost instantly, Elder Jared inhaled deeply, running a hand through his hair.

"The Royal Lycan elders were summoned to a meeting with King Askel at dawn. I feared your judgement would be brought up and trembled all through but there was never a mention of you. I could not even face His Grace and had to excuse myself from the gathering a short time ago to return home."

"No matter how I look at it, this is the best solution. King Askel is currently pressed with duties he neglected in his time away and has not been able to return to his quarters. We must act fast before King Askel has the time to contemplate a judgement for you." Elder Jared said anxiously.

"Vi, listen to me. I am not sending you away to be mated again to Kirk. If you do not wish to be reconciled with him, you do not have to. But sending you away is the right thing to do and Kirk’s pack is the only other place in the Ethereal Domain you can at least be welcomed." Elder Jared reasoned.

"Even if your offence against the Alpha King and the Crimson Alpha is discovered, Kirk will not give you up. He owes you that much... I am only sending you there because I am certain he will protect you with his life, if nothing else. You were his Luna for so long and he has repeatedly expressed his regrets." Elder Jared coaxed.

Vivienne’s nose flared at how her father simplified the situation, as if the years of indignation and dishonor she had faced could simply be overlooked just because Kirk was now apologetic and offered a sanctuary.

"I would rather die...than accept help from Kirk. I would rather die, than return to him... that is all I have to say on the matter. If you must still send me with him, best know what returns to you will be a corpse." Vivienne made it clear to her father.

"Vivienne!" Elder Jared snarled in frustration.

"I will find my own way to survive, so stay out of it!" She hissed and stormed away, heading up to her room.

Within the safety of her room, Vivienne slammed the door shut and locked it before she brought the vial up to her view, her hand clenched into a tight fist.

’Father says he was in a meeting with King Askel, does it not mean King Askel was truly away from his quarters like Alpha Zariah relayed to us?’ Vivienne’s wolf brought up a curious question.

Vivienne frowned slightly, she had not even registered her father’s words up until now.

Vivienne had assumed Alpha Zariah kept her from seeing Askel even when she had pleaded so desperately, but it now seemed as though that was not the case.

’Have you ever considered that there is truly no justification for our actions and we would do the same had we been in Alpha Zariah’s shoes or worse? Do you not recall how we dealt with those she-wolves Kirk was intimate with?’

’We know better than anyone, just how devastating it is to find your mate in bed with someone else...’ Vivienne’s wolf relayed to her pointedly.

Her wolf had always been the voice of reason and Vivienne was more hot headed, never stopping to think for a moment before she jumped into anything.

"But she... she neglected Askel first. She chose someone else..." Vivienne defended.

’Still yet, Alpha Zariah is Askel’s rightful mate. And if truly she had chosen Alpha Caedmon over King Askel, would Alpha Caedmon approach us with such a malicious method? What reasons would he have to resort to this if he had been successful in winning Alpha Zariah’s love?’ Vivienne’s wolf quizzed.

Vivienne was stumped, she did not have any words and so she stared down at the vial, her mind reeling.

’And even if everything is as you have said and Alpha Zariah is a loathsome existence. Must we also stoop to this level? We have always lived honorably, do you not find it shameful to have gotten involved in this?’ Vivienne’s wolf asked again.

Confused and full of doubts,

Vivienne broke down into sobs, crumbling to the ground
