The Alpha King's Witch Bride-Chapter 375: _EPILOGUE
THREE MONTHS LATER.
With each passing week, sightings of creatures born from the Vein grew more rampant—monsters of chaotic energy hunting the living at night.
But the alliance, bound by the Odessa Accords, didn’t sit and let it overwhelm them.
The cities were slowly being rebuilt. Wolves no longer had to isolate themselves in their packs away from witches and humans.
Both sides mingled, coming together to rebuild what they had once destroyed.
As for the people of Blood Oak and indeed the rest of the North American packs... None dared question Kaelos’ rule again. Sure, a few bad eggs remained—but they were silent.
It was a new era on Earth. One which, safe to say, left space to something underestimated.
Love.
.
.
"We’re gathered today for the union of two... Unique individuals." Elder Yune spoke with a loud voice that boomed through the event hall.
The older woman had taken the role of the Pack’s spiritual leader.
Blood oak was particularly lively today, most of the pack members gathered in the hall for a peculiar event. Rainbow fairy lights dotted the walls, the crystal chandeliers glowing like mini galaxies.
And on the stage were the two people the pack was gathered for.
Caroline and Regina.
Caroline, who could now make herself visible by utilising her Silverborn energy, was dressed in a dazzling, sleeved, white gown. Her ginger curls fell down her shoulders like flames.
Standing in front of her was Regina. In contrast, she wore a sleeved gothic black gown which flared to the base. The gown had lace embroidery at either side and a knee-high slit running down the left.
They held hands, staring into each other’s eyes, under the silent gaze of well-wishers and supporters.
Including the Luna Queen and Alpha King themselves.
Odessa and Kaelos sat side by side, the latter resting her head on her husband’s shoulder while Elder Yune continued with her soliloquy.
"Caroline Runeheart and Regina Thornhill. Two souls who’ve been able to redefine love through the harshest of ordeals." Elder Yune’s lips cracked into a faint smile.
"Their love is literal proof that even death can’t really get in the way. And today... We’re here to unite them under the blessings of the goddess."
She tapped her staff on the floor, sending a soft chime that echoed through the hall like bells. Then she turned her head to Caroline.
"Do you, Caroline Runeheart, take Regina as your partner? Through thick and thin? Sickness..." She paused, scanning her eyes on Caroline’s spectral form.
The crowd immediately understood and giggled. Odessa placed a hand on her mouth, hiding her amused smile.
She really was happy for Caroline.
She’d felt so guilty for summoning her to earth and even wanted to send her back. But here she was. About to get married to someone amongst the living.
"Only someone like Regina can be with a ghost without blinking," Kaelos whispered to Odessa, grabbing her hand when she relaxed on his shoulder. "You know... Maybe we should renew our vows. A wedding of our own. Our original wedding wasn’t really—"
"You’ve already given me a ring and gone on your knees." Odessa cut him off, closing her eyes. "The great Alpha king Kaelos knelt before me. That’ll do for now."
When the crowd hushed, Yune continued.
"Sorry about that." She smiled at Caroline who didn’t seem phased by what just happened. She was too focused on looking into the eyes of her bride.
"Do you, Caroline Runeheart, take Regina as your partner? For as long as your incorporeal form allows?" Elder Yune asked, her expression more solemn now.
Caroline nodded hastily. "Heck, yeah, I do!"
Some people giggled again.
Yune turned to Regina, asking her the same question.
"I’ll love her for as long as my mortal black heart allows." The latter grinned, brushing her fingers tenderly on Caroline’s hands.
Yune nodded, raising her arms towards the ceiling. "Then by the power vested in me by the moon goddess—and a license I got from the humans— I pronounce you ONE."
Regina took the lead, pulling Caroline into a kiss. The latter slung her arms around her, leaning deeper into the kiss. They were in their own world, the cheers and claps of the people blurring away.
Odessa’s eyes watered, her smile never faltering despite how strained her face felt.
"This is it." She whispered, eyes lowering to her stomach. For the briefest second, she felt the pulse of two beating hearts.
Twins. Her second chance at motherhood is growing inside her already.
"... This is the world I promised to build for you guys." She pressed her palm on her stomach, turning her eyes to Kaelos.
The Alpha king brought his gaze to his wife, both their smiles brightening. Through the cheers, claps and celebratory whistles, they kissed.
Love was alive in the air. In this little corner of their world...
.
.
But—
Yes. There it is. The dreaded "but".
You thought this was a happily ever after? Sadly, in a world where chaos literally sleeps beneath the surface... True peace is nothing but a pipe dream.
Perched on a building close to the event hall was a raven, its eyes glinting under the sunlight. It cawed silently, gaze locked on the cheerful event hall.
With a shrill, it flew, heading away from the pack. It flew beyond the boundaries of the Blood Oak woods, soaring above the reconstructions and rebuilding being done in the major cities.
Finally, it got to its destination—a hotel in Greenville City. The bird flew into a dimly lit hotel room, falling to the ground. Then it shifted, black smoke clouding its form.
In the place of the raven now stood a man. Tall, long black hair that blew into the wind coming in from the window behind him. And a face colder than frost.
A silver ring with a crimson sigil gleamed on his finger.
"She’s pregnant." The man said with a deep but eerily calm voice.
The room was pitch black, tinged with the scent of blood and decay. Something definitely died here. Or someone.
"Excellent..." A silvery female voice responded through the darkness, a pair of red eyes glowing in the dark. "Now we wait. The next generation will be perfect to usher in my return."
As she spoke, the darkness shifted like it was nothing but smoke. And in that darkness... She grinned.
"This world isn’t ready for what I have in store..." she whispered, her laughter bleeding into the shadows.
And somewhere, underneath the continent, the Vein pulsed — waiting.
