The Ancient Genes-Chapter 824 An Unfeeling Monster
Chapter 824 An Unfeeling Monster”Where shall we go today to have fun?!” Janet’s cheerful voice rang in the room of the hotel as she looked at her two friends, Elly and Aria.
”Didn’t we have enough fun already? I want to prepare myself for the competition. So, excuse me..” Aria refused her outright.
”I too am not in the mood to go out. Besides, something just doesn’t feel right about the city..” Elly spoke with an apprehensive look on her face.
Aria looked at Elly with a little frown on her face. Even though she wasn’t as sensitive to the air as Elly was, she was better when it came to noticing things. She had seen guards moving around, the people too seemed to be discussing various recent incidents in the city that had happened one after another.
Hence, Elly wasn’t wrong to say that something didn’t feel good, but did this mean that something bigger was about to come? Elly’s words surely hinted a little in that direction, but Aria shook her head.
’I am thinking a bit too much..’
”It’s going to be boring today..” Janet cried with a devastated look on her face as her shoulders drooped a little and she sat on the couch while wrapping her arms around her knees as a gloomy aura covered her.
”Well, why don’t you go and meet Max? You said he was here..” Aria spoke as she glanced at Janet. To be honest, she wanted to know where Max was. After all, she had some business with him.
That playboy dared two times with her friends!!!
She had to put some sense into his head, and let him know how disappointed she was in him.
”Well, I planned to pay him a visit. But he said he is busy..” Janet replied with a sigh. With her character she would have still paid Max a visit, if he was just normally busy, but she knew he was not.
Aria could only sigh inwardly. It seemed that she would have to wait.
…
Oven House, Capital Orca.
The capital had recently enjoyed a time of peace. There were not any major incidents in the past two month. Everything was going well. At least on the surface.
This was very true for the Oven House.
This House had been the quietest in the capital. If it was not for their huge mansion, people might have forgotten that they existed for a while.
But, unbeknownst to these people, there was a gradual change in the power structure of the House. The Lord of the House was under a heartbreak after his eldest son went missing. Even though it wasn’t officially declared, rumors had gotten out that he had met some mishap in Orena while training.ƒ𝑟𝐞𝗲𝘄𝙚𝚋𝑛o𝙫𝒆𝒍.𝒄𝘰𝓂
With the Eldest Son gone, the power struggle between the two brothers ceased to exist, and everything slowly fell in the hands of the younger son. Even the Lord deemed his youngest son, James, as his last hope.
The factions supporting Werner, James’s older brother naturally were like a headless chicken with their leader gone. Yup, a little spices and cooking before they were good to go. And, James naturally did that before swallowing them into his own faction.
And, right now, everything was in his control. Just the way he wanted it.
”It’s finally all in my palm now..” James smiled as he looked outside the window with his eyes on the city. He had achieved everything he wanted for his short term goals in the human world. To be honest, he could have just left this place now and returned to the Demon world for good as he had already earned himself a place as one of the Demons Stars.
But, James was not done yet, he knew that even as one of the Stars of the Demon, he was not on the same level as the top guys who had the Royal Blood in them. He needed more if he wanted to reach that level.
Hence, he stayed behind, and took control over the Oven House. His next aim was the whole city, but to be honest, even that was just a sham, his true aim was only one guy.
The guy who had failed his plans at one step or another a dozen of times now.
It was Max.
”He will be my last prey before returning to the Demon World..” James muttered with a smile.
Actually, James was born with a strange condition where he wouldn’t feel emotions.
People said there was warmth in a mothers touch, but to him it felt no different than any other. The world felt cold to him. He didn’t even shed any tears even when his own mother passed away.
People naturally began to point at him for it, and hence, he began to act. An act that would last on forever, an act of knowing how to feel when he didn’t, an act to smile when he didn’t want to, cry when he didn’t want to, an act to try to be one with world when he wasn’t meant to..
He who was supposed to leave in the world on his own, didn’t feel things. Since, there was nothing to interest him and nothing that made him feel anything, he had always felt out of connection with the world until that one fateful day.
The day when he felt his presence, the day when he experienced emotion for the first time.
The day he experienced the presence of the King of the Demons, Vaccaria.
”Bang!”
A loud noise rang across the room as the glass pane shattered into pieces while James stood in front of it panting, and trembling in slight fear. There was a look of madness in his eyes, these emotions of his couldn’t be anymore true. He wasn’t faking it like he always did.
Whenever he remembered that day, he would have nightmares.
”Hahahah!!!” James couldn’t help but laugh as he looked at his trembling hands. He was in rage, but happiness too. This was the moment he realized that he knew what fear was, and it was also the moment he realized what feeling an emotion was. And, this brought him happiness.
From this day, he had begun his pursuit of finding emotions…
But, nothing had been much of a help to him…
Until he came across Max, the second person to make him feel something that others couldn’t…
He couldn’t recognize what it was, but he knew there was something he felt while facing him…
He wondered what would happen if he killed the people who made him experience an emotion. His only dream in this life was to kill Vaccaria. He felt that a new world was waiting for him beyond the fear that he experienced.
And, in order to achieve that, he was willing to take any path. After all, he didn’t care for things and people. Not even his own self.
But, this list of people which was supposed to stay at one were not two, and this seemed to unlock another feeling in this unfeeling monster.
And, he was about to go lose…
